Wolves of the Mist - Acca's Guide To Challenging a Fight

Introduction

"So what if you can see, the darker side of me?"

The earth is but a century old, created and blessed by the paws of a divine being known simple as the Golden Wolf. He enchanted his dear homeland valley with four packs of wild lupines, each unique and differing in their talents and impurities. But the four warred and all but destroyed each other -- the survivors moved on, and renamed themselves as four new packs.
But eventually, fate led them back to their mythic valley. The four packs have forgotten the old ways, and a series of plagues was released to chase them -- they may have defeated sickness and disease, but there are others that are still hot on their trail. Hellfire, the wolven hell, has exploded into the living realm once more, and the oldest enemy known to the wolves moves closer and closer to reassmebling. In the middle of all of this, wolves are going missing. Three packs are glaring war at the fourth, the perfect distraction for the real threat to take charge...

Plot

Plot #4 "The Resurrection"
Flames erupted at the Moonless Meeting of July, bringing with it an impenetrable smoke that flooded the valley and a plethora of wolves that claim to be sighting the dead. Wolves are disappearing without a trace, and all evidence suggests there is treachery coming from the Yozoran Pack. A second disaster, a cruel, inescapable tornado massacred the sickened forest, and now, with so many deaths, the wolves of the forest want action. A war is sure to rise against the Yozorans....but there is more in the mist than what has been seen.
The wolves of Hellfire, wolven hell, have been reborn into the world, and if killed, they regenerate a few days later. Exiled pack wolves, rouges, loners, and even the unwilling are being recruited into the new Hellfirian Band, but something even worse is making its appearence -- a traitor is coming to lead these defeaters of death. Blood will flow as one with the mists....

The fire will again be lit,
The deadly past has come again,
And soon will come a gorey end,
Nothing can defeat this power,

Acca's Guide To Challenging a Fight

Introduction
Now, of course, this guide is more of how to make a challenge, not really a how to fight guide. That's a guide for another time. This is a pretty much advance guide, so this'll show some things different than what you're used to. Now challenging can be for anything, but on this site, more likely wolves are going to challenge for a high rank or food. Even though leaders usually decide ranks, you never know when your leader and beta are going to both die at the same time.

Basics
Now, like most threads, you need to indicate whether it's open, plot, private, etc. With challenging threads, I like to post [challenge] in my thread title. That way, unless your wolf specifically wanted to challenge them, all other RPers know it can't be their wolf you're wanting to challenge (unless you're trying to challenge an entire pack). So, here's an example of a title:

OK, now that we have a title, time to get a little advanced...

Advanced
For me, all the challenging threads are part OOC and part IC. The first two or three post will be OOC and explaining why you're challenging, what happens if someone wins and someone loses, and the mini rules of the challenge. Here's an example, say a wolf want to challenge the leader of another pack for their rank. First, I would post what I want and why I want the position. Second, I'd post my terms, which is basically what would happen if I won or loss. An example would be me winning I would earn control of the pack, the other wolf winning would mean they could kick me out of the pack, kill me, etc. Last I have the rules. You don't need them, I usually have them to make a challenge more of a challenge. Some rules for me would be 1,500 word limit per post, who gets to do the IC intro of the post, and stuff like that. Last but not least, I ask the person if they ACCEPT or DECLINE the challenge. Here's an example of a challenge thread I did on another site:

Regeane, your time has come to a close. I have sat in the window sill for too long watching the Black Legion fall into decay, I will not stand it any longer. I see only one option, a challenge, niece, I do not wish to shed your blood, and I know you will not easily step down. Prepare yourself Regeane and come meet me, or renounce your claim as Baroness of the Black Legion.

My Terms.
If I win- The Black Legion is mine end of discussion. You and any of your children may stay, I do not want us to be enemies, we are family after all. The Black Legion stays the Black Legion, I only want to see it flourish and alive, after all. Your life will not end this day no matter the outcome, nor shall mine.

If you win- The Black Legion is yours, and I am at your disposal, my life is not to your disposal.

-1,500 word limit-though loose, if you go over a bit, no big deal.
-1 intro- yours is optional
-2 attacks- you may include your first with your intro
-No limit on dodges, I think we are both reasonable.
-8 day time limit.

So, my niece, do you ACCEPT or DECLINE?

You don't have to do exactly that, that's just an example. You could have no word limits, you could make it where winning something would just be winning food, you can make an endless number of attacks. Whatever you want.

Conclusion
Well, now that you have your post, time to PM the person you're challenging. Now that person has less to post since they didn't make a thread. Usually, the second poster can post what they will do if they win or lose. Then they can choose to either accept or deny your challenge. Here's just a simple post I got from the person who challenged me:

I've been searching for her without sleep, without rest, and without enough food, and you would have me take away time from that to help you deal with your power cravings? Shame on you.

And if I lose, I will leave this place, for it will never be the same as it once was, regardless of what I do.

I fear you have lost your way, Sham. I'll have to put you back on it.

See? Not much eh? Since the challenist has accepted your challenge, you can go out of OOC post and post a real IC post. You don't always have to do an OOC post, I just find that easier and I always post an intro first, but you can get right down to fighting if you wish. Who wins or lose can all depend on natural things, with obviously the healthiest and strongest wolf winning, or if it is one vs. two, most likely the two wolves working together are going to win. Also, don't get mad at another member if their wolf wins. RPing is suppose to be fun, if you can't handle that, than RPing's not for you. Remember, though, do not powerplay. Your wolf can't hit another in one post, you need to let the other RPer choose if they get hit or not. Of course, that's why I recommend putting a limit on the number of dodges. Other than that, hoped you enjoyed this guide and hope you start challenging some wolfies!
