OFFICIAL WOTM RULES
xx An Introduction xx
Wolves of the Mist is an intricate and exciting roleplay. It's origins are unique, as it started with little but a simple idea. A small thought for a story plot, no backstory, seven highly dedicated members, some very crude layouts, and basic rp-experianced people. To make a long story short, this plot was twisted and rped excellently to a point that I, the admin/creator, could log in and not know exactly what would happen when I posted. We could all keep each other guessing.
Over a year later, we have been through much together. Though only some of these "original seven" are still here, we have gained members who are equally as talented and dedicated. Our history is required reading for new members, but don't worry about that just yet ;; you should most definitely read through this first
You should know that if you have never rped before, if you have rped for years, if you are proboards illiterate or a whiz at HTML, if you're from Australia or Canada or anywhere, we'll take you in. We are open-minded people, we are people with wild imaginations (to say the least) and people that have desires to write. It doesn't matter how "good" or "bad" at it you think you are....that comes after.
It starts with the imagining part.
*the underlined letters in this thread and the Story Thus Far combine to make up the codeword, which serves as proof you read this and the backstory. Write them down as you go (Hint: thirteen letters)
xx The Packs xx
WotM is based primarily on four packs of wolves, though lone wolves are also rped....and don't forget about the dead wolves, too xD. These four packs have gone through three total name changes having to do with the plots we've gone through and the backstory that was eventually developed. You'll become aquainted with these old names after a while, but the names of the existing packs are the important ones.
The Siverian Pack, named after the previous leader Siveria, is a pack of typically slim and lean wolves of swift tongues and pawsteps. They are clever, sharp, and enjoy the heavy use of sarcasm. Other traits associated with these wolves that reside mainly in woodlands are stubborn determination and loyalty 'til death. They don't give up easily ; they are fighters when it comes to matters of pack, pride, and heart.
The Destinian Pack, named after their former leader Destiny, tend to be of muscular build. They are versatile and speedy ; they are studious things, and fiercely proud of their practices. They can be a bit touchy, prickly, or easily upset, but they are also practical thinkers. If they were to lean one way or the other, pessimism would be the more common trait than optimism, but this is very subtle.
The Sheeran Pack, named after the fallen alphess, Sheera, are bright and cheery hearted wolves. They are typically thick-pelted and tough-limbed, as they make their home closest to the mountains. Compassion and loyalty are undying for these wolves. They are masters of happy-go-lucky bliss and have quite the way with words. Looked to as the nurturing type, they use charisma to win their way out of most fights. They are sometimes thought of as weak for this, but they have deep bonds with their packmates, and would put up a brilliant fight if needed.
The Yozoran Pack, dubbed Yozoran after their old leader, Yozora, are tricky wolves. They don't take many wolves seriously, which is both ignorance and strength ; they do not let others hold them back. They can be full of themselves, also, but there are certainly prized things about the Yozorans. For starters, they don't take crap from anybody xD. Other definitive strengths include their unpredictable battle habits, their energy and confidence, and also their well-honed night vision. They are usually built long and lanky.
Loners and Rouges do not roam with these packs, and usually only trespass if they want to join the pack or cause trouble in their territories. They have their own sections of territory elsewhere, too.
Other basic ideas here are the ranking systems. Newborn wolves are known as pups, and are usually pups for six rp months, which is not the same in human time. (Time is very free and moldable in this rp...to an extent. It is usually obvious what this means when you start rping.) After pups, for pack wolves, comes the neophyte stage. Neophytes learn how to become warrior wolves via the teachings of current warriors of their pack. Some wolves study to become herb healers, the healer wolves of the pack. There is only one healer per pack, and one healer neophyte at a time. After a long period of training, wolves go on to be lupus proeliators, which is Latin for wolf warrior. Most of the time, we just call them warriors xD. When wolves grow old and retire, they are known as seniors. Also, there are higher leader ranks in the packs. The highest of these is the alpha, who is the main leader of the pack. The beta is the leader's advisor.
It might seem like a lot, but don't worry ;; you'll have it down pat in no time. =]
xx Rules of Conduct xx
(Most of this is common sense, but past problems have proved it is helpful to have in writing )
- Courtesy No put-downs, discrimination, harassment of any sort, or rudeness will be tolerated. Constructive criticism is all well and good…if someone asks you for it.
- Do not give out personal information. And vice versa.
- No Spam. This includes flooding the cbox, using chatspeak (lol) in roleplay, and double posting; you must wait until another person posts before you can post again
- OOC vs. IC. Roleplay relations are not real relations, including character arguments and such.
- Debates. Political and opinionated topics are prohibited due to problems between members. We allow wolf conservation news and debates centered on plot as well as suggestions on how WotM could improve as an rpg.
- Staff. Staff are here to enforce rules and answer questions. If you find something wrong with how they do so, PM me, please do not verbally abuse anyone.
- Swearing. It is allowed, but please keep it to an absolute minimum.
- Activity. Routine activity checks are held, and I also go through and delete the members who don’t post a bio within a week of joining.
- Nothing that violates TOS:
www.proboards.com/tos.html - Plagiarism. I have tools to monitor this on WotM, and if I catch you at it, the consequences will be brutal.
- No power-playing, or controlling any aspect of someone else’s character.
- No God-modding. No perfect or invincible wolves.
- High Ranks. No single rper can have all the high ranks in one pack or two alphas at once.
- No breeding or rape rps. Yuck!
- Gore. Go ahead…but if someone tells you to tone it down, please tone it down. xP
- Names. To differentiate, we try to name them all differently.
