Vuelo and Birch bundled up together near the banks of the frozen Twilight Lake. The brothers squinted hard and sniffed, trying to find any wolves that could help them. "Hello!? Can somebody help us?" Birch called.
The brothers had been seperate from their sister, Twilla, long ago. Lupus knows where she was now. The only reason the two had made it across the mountains was the guidence of Ash, a rouge wolf who had taken them in. Ash had seemed kind enough, but Vuelo had seen her fighting with some pack wolves. He'd been tempted to sneak away, but Birch had convinced him to stay. Ash had taught them to hunt and even a little fighting. Ash had gone off on a hunt a week ago and had yet to return. Both brothers feared the worst had happened. They knew they shouldn't expect her to come back;; she would've been back well before now if she was alive.
So now they crouched low to the ground, exposed and lonely. They had nowhere to shelter in the winter cold. The two seven moon old pups were utterly lost.

A slender ivory femmora padded toward the Twilight Lake. Trailing behind her was an ivory brujo pup, a black heart emblazened on his forehead and bright amber eyes glowing through the darkness compared to Star's subtle sterling grey. A black crescent moon and star stood out on the femme's hunch as she walked, her steps light toward the half-frozen lake. Star and Kuroshin had been together for a long time, Kuroshin raised by Star with his siblings, Kasa and Shiro. The three pups had been the pups of a well loved healer named Merci in the old packlands. After traveling, they had found Kuroshin's uncle, Merci's brother, Halo and now dwelled near him. Halo was off hunting and that left the other two with nothing really to do.
"Did you hear something?" Kuroshin barked, pricking his ears and looking around.
Star stopped walking and looked around. "It sounds like....pups. Stay here."
The femme bounded through the undergrowth littering the bank of the Twilight Lake until she found what she was looking for. There they were, two pups huddled close together in the moonlight. Her sterling eyes softened and a small smile curled on her maw. Star had a soft spot in her heart for pups, all pups and served well as a foster mother.
"Are you two alright?" Star asked in her gentle tones, padding a bit closer to the two younglings.

Vuelo whipped around, pelt bristling and ears back with hostility. "What do you want?!" He spat with venom that would've made Ash proud.
Brich sighed with irritance and glanced up at this stranger. "I apologize for my brother's stupidity. I'm Birch, and that's Vuelo. And we're no pups...we're seven moons old," Birch told her, voice calm but guarded.
Vuelo glowered at him. "What if they're those weird cannibal wolves?!" Vuelo protested. He knew well that all the "cannibal wolves" had snuffed it on the twenty-first. Vuelo just wasn't a very "open" wolf when it came to strangers.
"The cannibals are dead, remember? Liviana and her friends made sure of it." Birch grunted. "And why didn't we go with them?" Vuelo snapped, paws kneading the ground with anxiety. "Because we're looking for Twilla, remember? She wasn't there!" Birch protested. He turned away from his brother and faced Star. "Twilla is our sister...we haven't seen her in many moons. We heard that she traveled with the Destinians for a short time. Have you heard of her?"

"Sorry, no I haven't" Star barked, smiling at the pups and sitting back on her hunches. "I'm just a fae wondering around and taking care of this little scamp." Star flicked her tail at Kuroshin as the pup made his way out of the undergrowth. He was a moon or two older then Birch and Vuelo and almost identical to his uncle, Halo except Halo's black heart was on his chest, Kuro's was on his forehead. "Come on Star, you're wasting time. If they don't want your help then why bother?" Kuroshin barked, sitting back on his hunches next to his foster mother. "We still need to find Kasa and Shiro."

Vuelo snorted impatiently. "Yes, let's go, Birch! We're wasting daylight!" He gave his brother a not-so-friendly nudge.
"It's nighttime, dufus!" Birch growled in retaliation. "Where are you headed?" Birch asked, curious. He wasn't sure if Twilla would stay with the Destinians. In fact, from the scents in the valley when they had arrived, she hadn't. They'd lost her trail in the snow not too far from the lake.

"We're not sure" Star admitted. "We're looking for two of my pups that went missing some time back. Kuroshin's uncle is helping us look for them." Star pricked her black ears as a sound came to her. Kuroshin leapt to his paws, suddenly brightening and a smile on his maw.
From the undergrowth steped a large, regal-looking ivory brute. His coat shimmered in the moonlight over powerful muscles. A black heart was clearly seen against his colorless pelt, placed upon his chest. Flaming topaz eyes cut through the darkness and three scars slashed across his muzzle from a bear fight. The brute looked over at Vuelo and Birch and then at Star. Star smiled.
"This is Halo" she told the two other pups. "Halo, this is Vuelo and Birch. They're looking for someone, maybe you've seen through the other loners?"
Halo studied the pups before sitting back on his hunches. "What does the wolf they're looking for look like?" Halo asked, looking over at the other two pups for an answer.

Vuelo started to snarl, but Birch's tail suppresed any further rudeness from his brother. "Her name is Twilla, and she's about seven moons old. She'a light brown, creamy color. Green eyes. Rather mischeivious. She was travelling with the Destinians for a short time, but we lost her trail near the water," Birch told Halo. He studied the brute with respect. Halo was not one to mess with, and he wasn't about to let Vuelo blow their chances at seeing their sister again.

Halo looked out over the water, thinking over the description given by the pup. Halo had found Kuroshin and Star near here as well, and had known right away Kuroshin was the son of his sister. It seemed they had been trailing behind the packs. Out of curiousity Halo had come to see if it was true, that the packs had moved. He remembered seeing a femme with a pup fitting that description. "I've seen a pup like her. Whether it is her or not I'm not sure. She was with a fae, a loner so I'd imagine she's somewhere in the loner lands" Halo barked finally, looking back over at the pups.
They were an interesting pair, one quiet and respectful, the other brash and apparently quite a pawful. "I would search near the woodlands, that's where most loners dwell this time of year, hunting is better there. A fae with a pup would most likely find shelter there."

Vuelo looked a bit suprised the brute had been so helpful. For once, the youn wolf remained silent and allowed his brother to thank them without protest. "Thank you all very much. We'll be off in that direction, then. Perhaps our paths will cross again someday," Birch smiled slightly, then stood. He gave them a short nod and started off towards the free-roamer woodlands. Vuelo remained where he was for a moment, studying Halo with guarded eyes. Finally he stood, shook the snow from his pelt, and followed Birch into the woods.

Also rising to his paws, Halo turned and padded away toward the undergrowth once more. He had become a silent ivory shadow again. Kuroshin sighed. Halo was always silent nowadays but according to Star, he had never said much anyway. Star rose to her paws and followed Halo, Kuroshin bringing up the rear of the group.
