Luin nodded. "She almost rammed into me in the forest. She said, 'Let him know that his nightmares aren't over.'" Her expession was now solid, aware that Coldfire's fight was not yet concluded.

"She flatters herself" Coldfire growled. "My nightmares are much worse then that she-devil." Most of his nightmares ended up being Luin dead, killed at his paws or someone else's. Sometimes he would relive finding his family dead after nearly drowning in a river. That was when his mind had gone blank and he'd gone back to instinct. Killing anything that moved and leaving a trail of blood in his wake. Both were horrid memories and dreams but he had to say, Luin's death was much worse then remembering his madness.

"What will you do?" Luin asked, worried for him and his answer.

"Hunt her" Coldfire replied, gazing out over the darkened Twilight Lake. "She killed my family." And drove me into madness Coldfire thought sourly. He wouldn't tell Luin that. He was fairly sure Luin remained ignorant of his bloodier years. She didn't need to know of his killings, not yet. It would drive her off but then again, he probably deserved that. Still, he was a selfish beast apparently for he didn't want her to run away from him. He didn't want her to leave.

Luin looked down at her paws. She felt uneasy, knowing that Coldfire would be leaving her again. Being apart from him this long had only made her heart grow fonder, and standing with him now made it race. But if Coldfire did not gain his vengence, he would never be alright. He'd be on his toes always, watching for that fae whom he never fulfilled his wrath upon. Luin felt torn between two feelings: sadness and hope.

Coldfire saw Luin's warring emotions in her eyes and his heart tightened. Taking half a step forward, Coldfire rested his muzzle against Luin's. "I will come back" Coldfire murmured softly. His topaz pools burned through the darkness, meeting Luin's gaze. "I won't leave you alone for long."
"Oh now Coldfire aren't you done promising things you can't keep?" purred a cold, velvet voice. Coldfire's head snapped up. It was Lithium, coming toward them looking cold and cruel, amber eyes alight with a strange killing fire.

Luin looked up once more at Coldfire. Now hope overcame the sadness. Then she heard Lithium speak, and thought,"Au crap." ( ;D) As the dark fae entered the clearing, Luin gave the brute a nod of encouragement and backed away. This would end sooner than they thought.
'Go get em tiger.'

This time, Lithium moved first. She slammed into Coldfire, his injured leg giving out. The pair tumbled but Coldfire kicked Lithium's belly, pushing her away from him. Coldfire scrambled up again, a thunderous snarl rumbling in his chest. Lithium smirked. "Aww is your little leg hurt?" Lithium purred. Coldfire snapped his jaws angrily and stood his ground, as firm as a statue carved of stone. Lithium wove closer and ran again. She slammed into Coldfire's chest, his fangs sinking into her shoulder as the two of them tumbled into the shallows. Coldfire's head struck stone and stars burst in front of his eyes. He tried to breath in and his mouth was flooded with water.

Luin stood in the shadows, her heart pounding as the two fought. Coldfire was fighting on a wounded leg and still open wounds. This would not end cleanly, no doubt.

Coldfire pushed up and found air. Struggling to stand, Coldfire turned and saw Lithium leering at him, standing in the shallows. He was further out, the water lapping at his belly and streams of blood curling in the liquid. The brute snarled at Lithium as she stalked toward him. "Come on Coldfire, you'll never kill me like this" Lithium sneered.
The ebony-streaked brute let out a low growl and leapt forward. His leap had less power then usual but still, he covered some distance. Lithium leapt to meet him, snarling loudly. The two struck in mid-air. Coldfire sank his fangs into Lithium's muzzle and Lithium bit down on his jaw. The two tumbled out of the air and hit the water with a splash, the force breaking them apart. They rose, panting and wet, glaring death at each other.
Lithium sprang. Her fangs caught Coldfire's throat. Blood sprang from him and a strangled yelp rang in the night. Lithium landed lightly behind Coldfire. Coldfire stood for a moment, head down before he collapsed in the water. Smirking, Lithium turned and ran into the undergrowth.

Luin ran out of her hiding place, across the beach, and into the water where Coldfire struggled to stand. She helped him up and got him to the shoreline. "Are you alright?" Luin asked as Coldfire settled himself on the ground. Of course he wasn't alright, but in this case that meant being able to even stand on his own, let alone fight.

Coldfire groaned when he felt himself being moved. His neck was scarlet and torn, breathing labored. Lithium was long gone but Coldfire was fading just as fast. A coughing fit shook the brute's bulk, scarlet speckling the ground like red rain. Coldfire chest had turned red, his shoulder shrouded in scarlet, his hind leg mangled even more then before. He was worse then a mess.

Luin took the groan as a no. Coldfire was in no condition to fight whatsoever, and looked horrible. You're not alone together we stand I'll be by your side you know I'll take your hand when it gets cold and it feels like the end there's no place to go you know I won't give in keep holding on

Coldfire couldn't reply to Luin. Her voice sounded distant and his eyes were fogged over, almost like he had cataracs in his eyes. He couldn't see. Everything was blurry and smudged, like simple blots of color. His honey eyes turned dull amber, smokey and fogged. Coldfire's mind wasn't processing as fast as it usually did. Luin's words sounded slurred and took a long time for his mind to recgonize what she was saying. He simply laid limp on the beach of the Twilight Lake, blood pooling around him.

Luin looked around. Someone had saved Coldfire last time, an angel perhaps. She couldn't do anything for him now at the way he was, slowly dying before her. No one was there. As her last effort of comfort, Luin got down beside Coldfire to keep him warm. His wet fur was freezing, and his warm blood was leaving him. Soon her fur was scarlet, but she didn't care.
