Owen padded to the swampy lakeside, head hung low. He'd felt terrible for almost a moon now. He knew why, deep down, but he wished he didn't. It's not like she would care about a wolf like him, anyway. They were from different packs...it wouldn't work. They lead different lives. She would find someone in her pack, and he would be miserable in his.
Spring was coming. The excessive puddles foretold it. Perhaps Rhain would have mercy on him and send them all a good, happy dose of Spring Fever...

Dorokiba pranced along the shore line. She hadn't heard the news yet...
She stopped when she saw Owen. Dear Lupus... She began to turn away, hoping he hadn't smelled her.

Out of the corner of his eye, he spotted her. Her beautiful form immediately froze, then turn away from him. Owen heaved a heavy sigh and allowed himself to fall, paws dipping into the cool water. Ripples fanned out around them, and his reflection blurred. It seemed everyone was turning away from him. His father, his brother and sister.... If Seren were alive she would be by his side right now. She'd know the right thing to say, and she'd be able to keep his secret. She had been so like his mother...always understanding, always knowing. But Owen felt less and less attached to Mist now. She had to lead the pack. And he had to follow behind. She couldn't know about his raging emotions.

Kiba's brows furrowed in frustration. For some reason, she WANTED him to notice her. So, she pretended to look around, as if she had heard something behind her. She then slyly whipped around and headed Owen's way. Time to forget the past.
"Hey Owen!"

Owen glanced up slowly, eyes unreadable. "Hello, Kiba." he woofed flatly. He knew he was secretly happy she'd come to talk with him. Another part of him was indifferent and refused to let down a barrier of flase pride.

Kiba flared with frustration, but kept it well hidden. She sat down beside him. "Aren't you happy to see me?" she asked innocently. She stood, making her way to his other side. She allowed her furry tail to brush his back as she turned around.

More than you know. "Why does it matter?" Owen sighed bitterly. His heart felt heavy, and he wasn't quite sure if it was better or worse that she'd decided to stay. Only time would tell...

Kiba snarled inwardly. She got her muzzle as close to his cheek as she could manage. "I'm glad to see you. Forgive and forget? Correct?"

Owen glanced at her warily, uncertainty in his eyes. "I forgive you, but would you forgive me?" His voice was doubtful. Yeah right. You're way out of your league...

She pranced to his other side. "What do you think?" She quickly dashed up and licked his cheek, dancing away just as fast. She settled down beside him.

Owen offered a small, crooked smile. "I'm not sure, Kiba. I can't read minds, ya see!" He nipped her playfully.

Kiba nipped his ear. "Who needs that? One mind reader in the forest is enough!"

"You still haven't said it!" Owen pointed out, sitting back and meeting her eyes. "I might have to tickle it out of you..."

Kiba looked back at him. Suddenly, her heart felt all... jiggly. XD "Fine... I missed you." she said calmly. She had to look away.

Owen smiled smugly. "I thought so." He nudged her lightly with his nose, tail wagging with glee. "Now...about tickling you to death..." He gave her another light, playful poke.
