Running from the past Kojo Yet seeking no future Kojo ran through the moonlit forest, breathing hard and his eyes fixed on the path ahead. He crashed through the undergrowth without bothering to be silent. Behind him human hunters rushed, guns raised. It felt like a nightmare but Kojo knew it was all too real. The thundering of their clumsy feet pushed him onward, away from their wreched kind. Kojo was running as hard as he could.
The humans ran on, their hunting dogs barking balefully though Kojo paid them no heed. Dogs didn't scare him. He'd killed many of them when he was but a year old pup forced to act under the will of foolish humans. Kojo felt a bullet skim just above his head and ducked his head, veering to the right and nearly crashing into a tree. He managed to avoid it just in time. His patience was wearing thin. Kojo knew what happened if he killed. He'd all but loose his mind but the options were narrowing down. If he came to the end of the forest, he was as good as dead without trees to block the bullets.
Skidding to a halt and sending leaves scattering, Kojo stopped and whirled around. His lips curled back exposing his fangs, amber pools hardeneing and glinting with feral bloodlust. His red-tinged fur bristled and his muscles tensed under his fur. A dog lunged. Kojo met it head on, snapping its neck cleanly. All self-control was gone to the wind. His mind went blank.
Kojo sat at the base of a tree on the edge of the forest. His jaws were clean of blood thanks to a nearby brook but in his mouth he still tasted the tang of disgusting human and dog blood. It was sickening but Kojo had already thrown up everything in his system. He had nothing more to get out, there for he was left weakened and tired from his all night run. The only thing welcomed was a familiar and loving scent drifting on the breeze, a scent so familiar Kojo felt he'd known it all his life.

The faes silky fur glistened in the light. Her extremally round form lumbered carefully through the trees.Icy orbs searched out the form of the brute.the gunshots and the barking of dogs had come to her on the wind. But that had been over an hour ago.She just hoped he was alright. She slipped on some wet grass and slid down over a hill. Now her fur was coated in mud.SHe wrinkled her nose at it.Neabry her ears pricked at the sound of a brook. She padded towards it and lowered her form into the water. It began to cleanse her fur of the brown mud.

Kojo's ears pricked. He heard splashing in the brook and Faith's scent was strong, tinged by the scent of her pregnancy. Kojo was hesitant. The blood on him could still be smelled and he was wary. He didn't want Faith to freak out or have some sort of fit because he'd killed humans again. Hesitantly Kojo slunk closer to Faith, standing just out of sight. He wanted to go over and sit beside her but he didn't want to taint her with bloodscent.

Faith stiffened. Her hackles raised and her lips curled back in a snarl. She turned and snarled at the brush. She could scent wolf but the scent was masked with blood and she could not tell who it was."Whos there!"she snarled menacingly."Show yourself!"Her orbs coldly swept across the undergrowth.

"I don't think you'd like that very much. My appearance isn't quite welcoming" Kojo barked from the darkness. He wasn't frightened by Faith's snarling tone or her aggressive stance. It was natural. All wolves became mean when they were wary and she looked the part. Kojo could tell from this distance that she was tired and that the added weight of carrying pups made fleeing a fully healthy loner impossible. If Kojo had been someone else, a BloodMist wolf even, Faith wouldn't have stood a pup's chance.

Faith narrowed her orbs. She followed the voice to the brush."Well at least tell me who you are."she snarled maliciously."The scent of blood masks you."She growled.her auds pinned back against her skull.

Sighing softly, Kojo padded into a pool of moonlight. He glanced at Faith for a heartbeat before looking at his paws, studying the ground beneith it carefully. His fur was splattered with blood and the tint of it could still be seen on his fangs, the scent masking his own woodsy scent. Kojo felt ashamed. He'd said he'd never kill again, even if it was a human or dog. Now here he was, splashed with their blood in front of his mate.

Faith choked for a moment. Then she shook her head turning away from."You promised."Tears welled up in her eyes and before she could stop herse;f she began shuddering. The sobs racked her form."You know what it sies to you!"this time it was more of an angry growl.

Faith was the only one that could bring fear to Kojo. The brute dropped low, ears laying back and his eyes downcast. He looked like a pup getting a thorough scolding from his mother. Kojo let out a low whine, asking forgivness. "I know" he murmured, closing his eyes. "I know" he repeated. "They wouldn't leave me alone" Kojo murmured. "I had no choice." Kojo knew it was poor exuse. Wolves were experts at escaping humans, especially him. Had he been subconciously looking for a reason to kill? The idea sickened Kojo. He still felt weakened from the rejection his body had done to whatever blood he had swallowed. He hated it. But....were old instincts kicking themselves to the surface? Would he turn into the old mindless fighter he'd been for three years? He sure hoped not.

Faith did not turn to gaze into his eyes.To show that she was not mad because she was furious."Your better than that Kojo. You've escaped many a human, wolf and dog.Your a brave and strong fighter Kojo."Faith growled."But your not unable to control your killing instincts."She snarled for a moment."It's harder for you than most because you were trained that way but your NOT unable."Her tail flicked in anger.

Kojo flinched slightly. Faith was right and he knew it. That was the hard part. It was true. Now that he was calm, not in the heat of the moment, he could think of many ways he could have escaped. His head hung in shame, ears flat against his skull. He felt thoroughly and properly ashamed and sickened at himself. "I'm hopeless" Kojo murmured, not daring to look at Faith. "You should go find Ronin and your siblings. Go with them rather then waste your time with a killer. That's all I am." Kojo closed his eyes, trying to shake the memories of his past killings, including his countless dog fights.

Faith sighed."Your not hopeless Kojo."She turned to look at him now."You simply have to think clearer.Try harder ."Faith padded over to him."Besides Ronin would try to kill you if I left you alone and hes a worse killer than you ever were.I know I had to stand and watch him murder all those wolves and people.Me and the others. The memory haunts me.The terror and the pleading in their eyes.Yet i could do nothing to help them."Her eyes had a distant look to them now.

Kojo shrunk back from Faith a bit. He didn't want his tainted scent to linger on her. "He's probably a better wolf then I'll ever manage." Kojo rose to his paws and padded to the brook. He waded in and almost instantly was belly deep in water. Taking in a deep breath, Kojo ducked his body under the rippling water, letting the brook wash away the blood from his fur. When he came up and padded onto the bank, his fur clung to his slim frame, showing clearly the scars on his neck and the muscles powerfully placed on his hunches and shoulders. "All I manage is dog-killer" he added to his earlier comment, shaking loose water from his pelt.

Faith sighed but did not follow him."Ronin is darker than you cna imagine Kojo.He is colder than the one the loners and rouges call Lupus. He would not think twice about killing me if I did something he dissaprooved of .But yes he would protect me until it killed him."Faith paused and padded to the edge of the brook."But I do not love him,not even like a brother, though he is mine."she paused."I love you."

Kojo rested his muzzle lightly against Faith's, meeting her eyes. "And for that, I am glad" Kojo murmured, nuzzling her cheek gently. The red-brown brute drew in Faith's lovely scent. It was the best scent in the world. To him, her scent was the scent of his freedom. Kojo sighed softly, glad she had never seen him in his days as a fighting wolf. She would have thought him a monster. Pushing the haunting memories away, Kojo glanced at Faith's swollen belly, then back at her eyes. "If he comes to close, let me know" Kojo murmured. "I don't care what you say, I'd take him on if he tried to do anything to you."
