Faith smiled."I know you would. But I have a feeling as long as you are my mate he will leave me be.He seems to respect you."Faith paused."Hope and Fate are not bad faes. They just have no one to love them so they follow his orders.Whatever they are."She paused."Besides he was always extremally protective of them more than me.He let me have much more freedom.he never lets them out of his sight."she smiled.

Kojo groomed Faith's ears lovingly, letting his muzzle brush against her soft fur from time to time. She was a comfort to him and he was grateful to whoever guided their futures, that he had found a fae as wonderful as Faith. Briefly Kojo thought back, remembering how he'd been mindless and numb to where not even deadly wounds hurt. Now he felt everything, especially around Faith. It was like being on hyperalert and Kojo wasn't complaining. "How are the pups?" he asked softly.

Faith smiled."They seem to be doing-oh!"she grunted as a pup kicked."Very energetic little things. She lifted a paw. Here , you can feel them kicking."She gazed lovingly upon him.He might not be the best wolf in the world but he was to her and that was all that mattered.

Kojo rested his muzzle against Faith's swollen belly. He could feel the wrigglings of the little ones and a smile spread over his maw. The leaves in the bushes crackled. Kojo's head shot up. A human was near. He could smell gunpowder. This one had more dogs then the last, not two but possibly four. The red brute stiffened. "Faith, run" he barked in a hushed voice. The wind was preparing to change. If they didn't move, the dogs would smell them.

Faith could stay and fight and if not for the pups she would have. She gave him a loving lick. Then giving him a quick nod she turned and ran for the hills. If she got as far as the clifftop she could get help.Ronin,Faith and Hope lived up there.Another fae lived farther up the mountain but she would not help.

Kojo shot off in another direction just as the wind changed. The dogs howled. Kojo ran faster, weaving between trees. His mind was set. No killing. Not tonight, not any night. Kojo sprinted flat out. Behind him, the brujo could heard the dogs howling and barking as their human stumbled along through the undergrowth. Kojo let out a feral howl, hoping to scare the dogs. He heard their paws falter but, like him, they had been trained. Speeding up, Kojo shot out of the trees like an evil wolf out of hellfire. A loud bang echoed behind him. Kojo couldn't even let out a howl. His paws stumbled. He fell. Blood seeped out of a wound in his side and his breathing hitched. He could hear the human coming closer but he couldn't move.

Faith's paws guided her along the well known route to the den"RONIN!RONIN HELP!"she barked.
The brutes large form appeared immediately on the ledge outside the den."Whats wrong"He asked calmly.
Faith caught her breath."Kojo.Dogs.Humans.Guns.Kojo not allowed to kill.My.Orders."she panted.
Ronin mostly figured out what she was saying."Where is he."
"We were by the swift brook. The one we crink from farther donwstream though."she barked.
"Hope,Fate watch your sister."Ronin nudged Faith into the den where the fae was greeted by the others.
Then Ronin turned and Leaped off the ledge.Carefully and swiftly he lept from ledge to ledge until he was running along side the brook. He found Kojos scent near the brook. He followed it.Then he saw the dogs, four of them.Savagely he launched himself at one and began ripping it apart limb from limb.He ignored the gunshot and the pain in his shoulder.

Black fringed the edge of Kojo's vision, his flanks drenched now. He felt the vibrations of running paws and heard the yell of a human but he couldn't be sure where it was coming from. It sounded like it was coming from far away. No sound escaped Kojo. He had been in pain too many times to allow signs of pain to show. He simply laid limp. Half of him wanted the fire to consume him and let him rest and the other half howled at him to fight back. Faith needed him. His pups needed him. Kojo's paws twitched but movement beyond that was impossible.

Ronin through the ripped up animal at a tree and moved on to the next dog.He ripped its throat out and flung it into a rock. Then he moved to the third.Ripping and shredding at its pelt.Another shot was fired and it skimmed his back but he ignored the pain .
Faith paced back and forth in the cave.Fate was guarding the entrance and Hope sat watching Faith.

Kojo felt something cold touch his fur. He closed his eyes. He knew what it was. It was the barrel of a gun. A rifle to be exact. That close, Kojo would be lucky if there were any of his insides left. The brute tensed though it hurt like hellfire. He was unable to run and barely concious enough to realize he was about to die if he didn't do something. All he knew was suddenly, he wasn't alone. Another wolf was there, but who was it? He'd sent Faith away. Perhaps another loner? He didn't know. His mind was too foggy and pain filled to think too hard.

Ronin through the dog at the earth and finally murdered the last dog.He turned his bloody form upon the human.Launching himself at the man.His claws burrowed into the mans back and shoulders. His fangs deep into the humans neck.he tasted the life draining and he loved every moment of it.The exhilartion of killing.

The chill of the gun barrel was jerked away from Kojo's flank. Fearing the human was still there, Kojo tried to force himself up but he could barely move. He got a clear scent now. Ronin. He remembered the scent from the loner gathering. Faith's brother. Kojo tried to speak. Nothing came out except for his ragged breathing. The wound in his flank was draining him. Something had to be done or he was sure he'd see GoldenMist tonight and that was NOT what he wanted. He wanted to be there for Faith when her pups came, raise them peacefully, away from BloodMist and humans and hunts.

Ronin was a murderer , a killer.Worse than Kojo could have evr been.He slashed his claws along the humans back leaving deep grooves. He pulled his fangs from its neck as it fell to the ground. He listened satisfied as his jaws cracked the humans arm in half. Then he broke the other. He laughed and broke its legs as well.It was helpless and he loved the fact.he slashed at it;s back.

Kojo's vision cleared. He saw Ronin's torturing the human. Kojo mentally kicked himself. Though he had killed, Kojo's subconcious inner demon had done it quickly. He knew every major blood vessle and his victims barely knew what had hit them. It was the way of dog fighting. Kill fast or be killed. He'd never liked it. He'd done it to survive. "S..stop" Kojo rasped, his voice quiet. "Kill it quick....or get lost."

Ronin snarled."Your in no place to order me."He snarled. But the humand was boring him so he sliced its neck open and finished it off with a quick death bite anyway. He glacned around him.He had already slaughtered the dogs so the only thing left to destroy was the gun.He padded over and grasped it in his jaws.He began beating it contionuosly off a rock until it cracked. It was a small crack but it was good enough for him.He twisted his head and flung the objest into the brook where the current began to slowly carry it away.
