A soft snow whirled in the sky, showering the meadow in a white coat. All was still and all was silent. In the midst of the site stood a ragged ebony fae, eyes shadowed and tail dragging behind her. Mosca looked up at the sky, eyes dull. Dead. Without a soul. They were cold. She looked around, having finally found her brother.. seeing him at a distance. She would finally avenge her poor mother... and all the other wolves her brother had killed. But she didn't want this burden anymore. What she wanted... she could never have. More than anything, Mosca wanted love. She wanted Thite. But he had loved Sunblaze more... and she had known it. He will be better off with Sunblaze she told herself. But, even if she had ran away from him so he could be happy with Sunblaze... she felt a regret so strong it threatened to tear her apart. Mosca wanted to have Thite by her side, but she had chased him away. She was forever broken.

The massive snowy form of a brute moved carefully across the land.Healthy silken fur ripple over large powerful muscles and limbs.Deep, soft, orbs of many emotions scanned the terra where his paws were being layed. For a moment he halted.Seeing a brute. Then decided the wolf was not worth his time.
Thite's steps were not lively or happy like they once may have been.Nor were they slow and sorrowful as would be expected. They simply were. The old Thite was gone.Forever.This was the new Thite. The one who actually knew what he had to do to get what he wanted most. The task was daunting. How could he tell Mosca he had chosen Sunblaze over her?He did love Mosca.But.Not like he loved Sunblaze.Thite knew very well that when he broke Mosca's heart a piece of his would go with her.Although he would always be with Sunblaze.Thite would still watchover Mosca.Somehow.

Mosca slowly became aware of the presence of another wolf... very painfully aware. She caught the scent, and immediately closed her eyes tight. A sickening feeling bubbled inside of her, and she forced it down by swallowing roughly. She was expecting the news... the news that Thite would have chosen Sunblaze. You should be happy... you wanted Thite to be happy. Yet she still felt that all her life she had been saving others... never herself. Don't I deserve to be happy too? Her fur bristled, tears nearly sliding down her cheeks. Ready to cry... but she didn't. She wouldn't cry. She felt too cold to cry... Opening her maw, she whispered a little song to the sky in a soft yet powerfully sorrowful voice... a truly beautiful voice: "'Cry not' said mother as she lie on the ground Sky gray and sky pale, pups did not make a sound 'Open your eyes... take time to see Cry not my young ones.. cry not for me'."

Then the brutes soft blue eyes turned to solemn as he realized what the scent was.Bitter and cold.Yet loving and passionate. This was Mosca's scent. It was what he had been searching for all this time.Yet,now that he had found it.Thite wanted to turn and run.As far and fast as he could. The brute did not want to have to do this.To face her.But in the depths of his heart and his sould.Thite knew what he had to do.As much as he loathed the fact that he might make her cry.Mosca.Thite was sure the fae had never shed a tear in her life.Mosca lived for revenge.Thite.Thite's story was much different.No.He did not live for revenge. Not anymore. Not now.Not ever.

Mosca slowly turned to Thite, looking across the meadow and at the wolf. The wolf who had once held her heart... and still did. She had the urge to run away, not face this... not hear the words that she knew would only confirm her prediction. But she was dead inside. Dead wolves did not run. Dead wolves did not cry. "Save me, take me home... over and over again... wishing that this would all end." Her song came out as an icy whisper, and she fell into silence afterwards, eyes searching Thite and waiting for what he had to tell her.

Thite's soft orbs turned to sorrowful pools of ice.The brute might actually have cried.No.He was much to strong for that.Thite rarely cried. If at all.Massive paws of silken snow moved his bodice several paces closer.Yet he halted again.Seeming to be un-able to pad any closer to her.Now Thite waited. For Mosca to come to him.Paws and mind refused to allow him any closer to her.It was as if he was frozen in place. If she came to him. Then he would have to tell her.The truth.Though he wanted to lift the weight from his shoulders.Thite knew it would always hold heavy in his heart.Even after he told her.The brute would never be free from her.Thite would always love Mosca. But his love for Sunblaze was stronger. It was pulling him away from Mosca and to his sweet Sunblaze.A femme he knew wanted him at her side. With Mosca.Nothing was truly clear anymore.No.Nothing was clear.

Mosca stared it him with a bleak expression. “…wishing that this would all end…” She slowly stood and padded forward, like a ghost floating over the field on paws that scarcely touched the ground, each numb step leading her forward to her emotional death. Live for revenge, live for love. Live for a reason, live for nothing. She halted a few pawsteps in front of him, looking directly into his eyes. His eyes were cold at first glance... but, if a wolf took the time to peer deeper into her soul, they would find the sorrow there. The melancholy air that had haunted her gaze since her unfortunate birth to her murderous father and bloodthristy brother. To her innocent, forcebred mother. And, in this moment with Thite, the pain in those orbs only seemed to intensify... intensify until the sheer agony of everything in the world threatened to drag her under a sea of despair. She waited to hear the words that would send her spiraling under.

Thite held her gaze.No longer did his orbs hold happiness or joy.Nor anger or hate.Instead they held longing and sorrow.Tainted with despair. They still held their soft quality.Yet hardness rimmed them as they gazed upon Mosca.Thite was afriad to tell her what he had to tell her.Yet he was afraid not too. What would she say? What would he say to her even?!?Thite did not know.Mind ached with an intensifying pain. The task was daunting. He was not sure if he could fulufill what he had to do.Mosca would be left broken hearted most likely.Could she handle the agony and pain?Thite held her gaze.Maw felt dry.So he waited for her to speak instead of he.

There was a dead silence as she waited for him to speak. It didn't come, and that made Mosca feel worse. Why is he holding back? Finally, she couldn't stand the quiet of the moment. Softly, faintly, she murmured, "Have you ever looked at the stars, Thite? Ever listened to the wind at night?" She paused. "They tell you things if you listen hard enough."

Thite held her gaze. The tears came un-willingly.Crystal droplets slithering along his face until they dripped from his fur.Making a slight sound as they dropped to the earth below the wolves paws.Damn it.I promised myself I would'nt cry.Thite cursed himself in his mind. "Have you ever hated everything in the world? And loved it all at the same time?Have you ever howled to the moon at night to get no calling reply?Have you ever just waited for death to come and cursed on it when it refused to find you?Have you ever wished you had not existed,Because you've hurt so many wolves and tore so many hearts apart and tried to murder and succeded willingly?Have you ever told her you loved her,but love was'nt enough?Have you ever wanted it to work out.Only to know in your mind it's a wish that will never come true?"The tone of his voice was sorroful and tainted with despised realization.

Mosca closed her eyes, inclining her head. "Every night, everyday -- every solemn hour of being tossed around in this lifeless abyss -- I feel that way. Yet sometimes I feel like I'm doing it to myself, not just that the world is against me. I've loved, too..." There was a small, barely noticeable pause. "...though it never seems to be enough."

Thite still gazed at her.Unable to tear away.He could'nt.His mind , soul , spirit and heart would not allow it."Love is never enough.I loved her when I first lay eyes on her.All those moons ago.On that starry night. We howled at the moon in a tainted harmony. She was my everything.I was sure.Sure there would never be another.Sometimes 'sure' is a stupid thought.Sometimes it's a lie you make to yourself."The sky was darkening now.It was so much like those many moons ago.Yet so different. There was love. But it was tainted with regret and sorrow.Everything was so right about their love.Yet it was oh so wrong. Why had he even been born?To hurt and destroy lives with his painful words? That's what it seemed like.Sunblaze loved him.Deeply.He loved her as much or more. But oh how he loved Mosca.Yet it was different. His love for Sunblaze was .Thite could not even say the words. As he did not know what they were.Damn you Thite.Damn you.

She wanted to scream at him. Scream for him to go ahead and say it! To tell her that he loved Sunblaze more than her! The waiting was choking her senses. Again, she wanted to cry, but forced herself to remain still. "'Sure'..." She sighed softly. "'Sure' means so many things... means so many..." Her voice trailed off into a whisper. There was nothing else she could say to Thite... nothing that would change anything. Not her love for him. Not his love for Sunblaze. She was sure of it.

Thite's paws were frozen to the earth.Or so it seemed. his mind was locked. He did not know what the words were.Until after he ahd spoken them."Mosca.I love you.Despite what you think.Despite what Sunblaze think.I do love you.You were my first love. That's something a wolf only has once. And I will always love you.For you. I never cared that you could be cold and harsh. Never."Thite halted.Trying to collect his thoughts.Trying to say these words that were choking him right. But it was'nt working. "Now I walk alone. I think of home. So many memories of long ago. No one knows I lost my soul oh so long ago. So i'm standing on my own. Forget about the life I used to know. Forget about the one who's heart I broke."Thite sang the words from the deepest part of his soul. The brute had not known what his song was.But apparently that was it.

Mosca heard his words and took a step back. Tears were there now. Tears in the eyes that had seen much... seen hurt and love, sorrow and hate... hope and friends. And then they were gone. Only a single tear had slid from her eyes, spiralling to the ground and dissolving in the grass. When he finished, her heart was pounding in her chest like a chorus of drums. Like war drums. And she was in the battlefield. "'Cry not,' said mother... 'Cry not.'" That was all she could manage... all she could think to say. And it was mostly to herself.
