Luin breathed hard. She'd been chasing that doe up and down the valleys for half an hour already and the hunt so far had been fruitless. And what was really strange was that this doe was alone and Luin had seen no other deer the whole night. Maybe the Fall Goddess is playing a trick on me, she thought, but later dismissed that assumption because she knew that Thorn wouldn't spend her time toying with a Rogue wolf.
Luin decided that her prey couldn't run forever, so she continued to chase it through the forest.

Coldfire's ears flicked up. The ebony streaked ashen brute raised his head from the nest he'd made under a snow-frosted bush. Cold amber flames glared through the darkness. He found it. The doe was weaving through the trees at a brisk pace. Coldfire's stomach complained angrily. It had been a good four days since his last kill. Moving swiftly and as quietly as he could, Coldfire rose to his paws and started running. His powerful limbs carried him toward the doe. It seemed to panic and sprint the other direction. Not fast enough. Coldfire snarled and leapt up, snagging his fangs on the deer's throat. The deer tossed it's head and reared up, boxing Coldfire sharply in his side. Coldfire didn't yelp, but clung on. Finally the deer fell and Coldfire stared with distaste at the deer, mentalling wincing at the bruising spreading across his side.

Luin soon noticed that another wolf was chasing the doe, so she ran even the harder, her muscles complaining as she did. But when the fae finally caught up with the doe, it had been caught already and lie dead upon the ground.
Coming to a halt before the fallen prey, the fae recognized its chaser. It was that brute she'd seen at the battle: Coldfire. Luin wasn't sure what to do about this now. She'd chased that doe for sometime and now it had given way to another wolf.
Catching her breath quickly, Luin said, "Not much prey around here, is there? Or we'd both have one of our own."

"No" Coldfire agreed, flicking his eyes to the femme. She looked remotely familiar but he couldn't place a name. Not that he bothered remembering names. Too much moving around. Wolves never lasted around him. His face was carefully expressionless if not guarded. No one would be able to tell a splitting pain was spreading through his side like the deer had bruised a rib. Nope. No one would be able to tell. He was too good at hiding it. "Take what you'd like. This catch is yours." Coldfire sat back on his hunches next to a tree. He'd eat when she finished.

Luin shrugged. "I'll only take half. You deserve credit for catching the thing." And so she ate what was her half of the doe. The meat was very juicy and tender still, which was good. It might have even been a blessing instead of a trick of Thorn to send them a prey that was very fit and not deprived of muscles.
When she'd had her amount, Luin moved a few feet back and waited for Coldfire to take the rest.

Rising to his paws, Coldfire padded forward and tore off a bit of the flanks of the doe, savoring the flavor of the meat. As he ate, he kept an ear open incase the femme spoke. His sharp ivories were soon tinted red from the doe's blood and soon enough his belly was full for the first time in a few days. Stepping back, Coldfire sat back on his hunches once more. His ebony streaked fur seemed to blend in with the shadows as he looked toward the femmora, his amber flames flickering through the darkness. "Who are you?" he asked, for once it was annoying. She looked familiar to some extent.

Grinning, she replied, "I didn't think you'd recognize me, Coldfire. I'm Luin. I fought at the battle in the Blood Mist Camp a few days ago." Luin knew from experience that Coldfire never changed his expression, so she didn't expect a grin in return.

Luin was right. Coldfire's expression didn't change though his amber pools narrowed slightly. "You were in the battle?" The curiousity in his tone was kept to a minimum. Give little away and you live longer. Words Coldfire lived by. He couldn't remember seeing the fae but the battle had seemed fuzzy in his memory. Coldfire however was sure he would have remembered something like fighting with a fae. (they never fought in the battle, coldfire was never there but i'll go along with it, sounds interesting )

(Whoops! I was a little worried if he was or not. But heck, I'll keep it! Luin nodded, remembering that horrible day. "Everything happened so fast. There was so much bloodshed, it was hard to tell who anyone was besides the BloodMists."

"How do you know I didn't walk among them?" Coldfire asked in his usual expressionless tone. His smoldering orbs burned into the femme. So she had been in that bloody battle? Mentally Coldfire shook his head in shame. Femmes weren't supposed to see such horrors. Coldfire did look like a wolf that could walk with BloodMist. His careful expressionless face, large build, strong muscles and a few scars here and there made him look like one of those wolves. Coldfire wasn't proud of it. He had killed but he didn't like it. After falling in that river most of his memory had been snatched. His pack had been murdered by the time he returned. Anyone he saw after that, he killed. Now he was sane but he couldn't forget.

"I don't," answered Luin. "But my instincts tell me that you're not that type of breed."

"Instincts aren't always right." Coldfire closed his eyes for a long moment. This fae was trusting. It would be her downfall. Coldfire could see another brute easily taking advantage of her trusting ways. "Sometimes you have to listen to what your eyes tell you and what your mind tells you. How another acts. BloodMist wolves are good liars Luin." Coldfire's eyes flickered open again and he looked at Luin, cold pools burning through the darkness like fire through dry leaves. He allowed a flash of an almost-smirk. Yeah. He remembered her name now. Her voice was familiar though it was no longer yelling battle cries or threats to other wolves.

"My eyes can see, and my mind is more than sensible, but my heart guides my instincts." answered Luin. "That's how I can tell that you are not one to doing harm. BloodMists have an aura about them when they're lying. It can be either too kind or too forward." The fae scratched an ear with her foot.

Rising to his paws, Coldfire kept his eyes on Luin. "Smart fae" he murmured. "Watch yourself. It's a cold world out there." Coldfire turned and started to walk away. For some reason however, he almost hoped for a reason to be called back. It was nice to have a break from his self-imposed exile. He almost missed his days when he'd been young and could talk to any wolf. Now he kept silent and expressionless.

"Wait!" Luin said as Coldfire was starting to walk away. With his attention, she asked, "I need to know. Am I correct? Are you really not of the BloodMists?"
