The Grey Mist Pack Travels

[Destiny]

The form of the femme was no longer as scrawny as before. There was some meat on her bones now. Her pelt looked healthy.orbs glowed with endless determination.Her paws guided her steadily onward.The wind whiped at her fur.Snow whirled around her snowy white form.SHe halted.Which she did every hour or so.To make sure no one had fallen behind.Her pack was not extremally large.But it was growing.She wanted to lose no wolf on this journey if she could help it.The femmes daughter Akaira was holding tight to her mothers back.The pup was still to young to do much else.


The ebony form of New Moon was less difficult to make out in the storm.Steadily she padded.Legs sinking in too the knees in the deep snow.The femme halted by her Alphess.Kiari.Destiny's adopted daughter.Was clutching onto New Moon's back fro dear life.

Svel padded steadily along beside her aunt New Moon.Though not biological as Destiny had adopted her.

Grug looked around cautiously. He had traveled many times as a loner, but this was different. He was in a pack now. Scared to even speak, he continued on.

Zuni was crouching low in the snow. His eyes were half closed as wind blinded him. It was like he was invisible white fur amongst white snow. He took one step, cleared his eyes, and then took another.

[Destiny]

Destiny could see Grug's outline.Then Zuni's."Grug."She called.It was time she told Grug the truth.About his pups.She had lied to Lakota.Though she had a feeling the brute knew the truth.One of the three living pups was Grugs.The dead ones.One of them had been Grugs and the other two Lakotas.She had known that the pup was Grugs hours after it was born.But that was not what she wanted to tell him.Not yet.

Grug's ears pricked. He walked over to Destiny. "Yes?"

Zuni watched him go. He blinked a few times, then shook his head. Everything was getting hard to see. Surely I can't be going blind. I'm not that old, right?

[Destiny]

A deep sigh came from Destiny.Finally she rose her crown."Grug.Do you remember."She cut herself off before continuing.Then she seemed to be able to continue."Do you remember the Rebellion against me.Do you remember...What I said to you after it."Her tone was it's normal calm.

"Yes, I do." Grug closed his eyes for a moment. Everything had seemed to happen so fast, but now remembering it, he could picture exactly everything.

[Destiny]

Destiny let the painful tone seep into her voice now."I was wrong Grug.I was angry and frustrated.Sometimes you can be a little irritating.But Grug.I-I-"She cut herself up.Then she took a deep breath.Carefully she reached over and touched her greyish black nose to Grug's."I do truelly love you Grug."Her tone was sweet and loving.She did love Grug.Not as much as Lakota.But she did love Grug.

Grug opened his eyes. What do I do now? He looked away not knowing what to say, so he thought of something quickly. "Well, I really don't know what to say. Everthing seems to happen so suddenly and out of nowhere."

[Destiny]

Destiny sighed in sadness."Parting is suche sweet sorrow.That I will say good night.Till it be morrow."With that the fae sped up.So that she stood shoulder to shoulder with her Proxy New Moon.

Silver trekked through the swirling white and saw a form up ahead. Worry clawed at her when she recognized it. Silver bounded forward. It was Zuni. "Zuni" Silver barked. "Are you ok?" He had been lagging and Silver was feeling uneasy.

Bluefrost followed Silver though she didn't approach Zuni. She decided it was probably best to let her friend take care of the wolf she thought was special. Bluefrost knew too well that Silver did like and worried for Zuni.

Sirius padded near the middle of the pack with Aliya, one of Destiny's pups held in his jaws. White captured in his fur made him look pale grey, his sterling eyes half closed against the whirling winds and snow.

Struggling to keep stride, Skysong padded beside her father, using his larger bulk to help protect her from the snow.

Zuni stayed crouch down. "I can't see very well. It's weird. It's not the wind or anything." He stood up and shook the snow off his pelt. Still too hard to see. He would never expect something like this to happen.

Grug nodded and walked back to Zuni. His brother seemed to have trouble keeping up.

"Come on" Silver barked soothingly, "just follow me." Silver laid her tail on Zuni's shoulder and started walking slowly again. She was worried. Was Zuni going blind? Silver couldn't see Sedaka around and there wasn't time to stop for one wolf. They had to keep moving. Stopping now could mean freezing for some wolves, especially the younger pups.

[Destiny]

Aliya padded along beside her mate.The snow was getting deeper and deeper.

Sothis struggled alongside his mother.The wind and the snow was not what was bothering him.There was an ominous feeling in the air.Something bad was going to happen.

Zuni closed his eyes tightly, then opened them more slowly. Things were turning blurrier. "This is impossible. I can't go blind! I'm too young."

"Not that young," Grug said. "Youdon't lose eyesight just because you get older. There are many ways to lose your eyesight."

Silver licked Zuni's muzzle, her heart jumping around wildly. She was worried. If they didn't get moving, they'd be lost in the snowstorm and lost from the pack. Silver let out a low worried whine, glancing back at t he passing pack.

Sirius noticed three wolves up ahead. Sirius padded toward them, his black bulk like a ink splot on a peice of white paper as he approached. Sirius cleared some snow away from the ground and put Destiny's pup down and looked at them. "What's going on? Someone hurt?"
