Axle had crept silently out of the area where the two packs had joined. Too much trouble for him. He like traveling alone, even though his father would be angry at him for leaving without saying anything. Didn't matter to him. He was always lonely and quiet. He would always listen to whatever his father said. He was strong wolf, and a brave one, but he was also shy.
Axle looked back over the mountains and sighed. That's where he had to be traveling to soon. But he felt like resting right now. He laid down and started grooming a paw.

Alice limped on her right paw. Lifting her left one ever so slightly off the ground. She had been walking along a snowy trail for a while until her paw was cut open. While she was walking a piece of ice had been hidden in the deep snow, with out even knowing she had stepped right on it causing her paw to cut open. She had quickly changed course afraid of stepping on another piece of ice.
Silver orbs glanced all around as many different scents of wolves came to her on the wind. She thought maybe a pack was staying near by. Alice thought critically about her next move and decided to keep going forward. They were probably sleeping by now and maybe she could just walk by. Her paws stopped at the edge of a frozen drinking place. It seemed to be solid, and the wolves probably didn't even know about it, or did but didn't bother because it was frozen. Deciding to go for it. The fae trotted lightly on the ice, walking ever so slightly not to slip. Everything was fine until she heard a loud cranking noise. As she started to walk faster her back paw almost feel into the water, she let out a silent yelp. What would she do now? The end was almost there but she had to jump to make it, and she was scared to put presser on the breaking ice.

Axle closed his eyes and kept his ears pricked for the slightest noise. This was why his father liked him, because of his excellent hearing. He could even hear... the faintest sound of ice cracking? His eyes opened wide and ran towards the noise. He saw a fae limping across the not-so-very frozen ice. He thought of ideas in the back of his mind.
"D-don't move! I'm coming to help!" Without another word, Axle padded softly onto the ice. He looked from his paws to the fae. He held his breath at certain times when it felt as if the ice was breaking. Looking at the fae again, he wondered how he could reach her. We'll probably have to swim to get to the other side... "Hey,I have an idea. I"ll grab you, and if the ice breaks, I'll paddle us out to the nearest shore."

Alice just about slipped on the ice, but regain her blance before she did. Her ears lay flat on her skull until she heard someone running. Her ears rose up and she turned to see who was coming. She put more presser on her right paw, but the ice made another crack.
"D-don't move! I'm coming to help!"
She nodded her head agreeing not to move anymore. But too much of her weight was still leaning on the one side. She forced her left paw to lie lightly enough on the ice but her eyes clouded over with pain. She looked back up at the brute. She made a somewhat shocked face swim? In such cold ice. 'Well freeze!' She though. But thinking it over again looking around she nodded her head then she made a look that said. What now?

Axle crouched down, getting ready to jump, grab her, then run over to the shore. He looked around carefully for a landing spot and noticed which foot the fae had trouble walking on. I'll jump to the side. There would be less weight. He lightly leaped next to the fae and grabbed her carefully on the scruff of her neck. He heard more of the ice cracking
Here we go! Axle used all his strength to jump to the closest shore, hoping to pull the fae with him. I hope we don't have to swim. I hate swimming! He shook his head to clear away any thoughts. His attention now was to reach the shore without letting go of the fae.

Alice felt him grab her scruff. 'Okay...' She thought 'This is it.' She readied herself and jumped as best as she could when he did. Suddenly a cold shock ran through her body. She opened her mouth as if a yelp was so post to be heard, but nothing was. She quickly lifted her right hind paw back out of the water. She nudged him as best as she could, with him still holding her scuff making it hard. She pointed with her nose to a spot that looked solid. Then took a limped step closer to the spot where she pointed.

"Hmm?" Axle looked at the spot. Thinking fast, he was able to change directions just as the ice broke away and water was revealed. He landed hard on the land and his whole body was shaking. His shoulder hurt, but he didn't care, it was over. But how was he going to get across again to go back to the packs? Guess I'll just have to go around. He let go of the fae and crawled a few feet away.

Alice landed hard on her wounded paw as she hit the ground. She quickly rolled on to her side to lift the presser off. She was breathing hard but you couldn't hear it, only see it if you looked at her. She looked around and her gaze stopped at the water, cracked in many places. Especially right in the spot they had just been moments before. She let out a silent sigh, and turned to look at the wolf that had saved her life, she was grateful. If he hadn't come the chances were she'd probably be in that water right now. She stood up careful on her paw. Walking over to the brute she nudged him gently. Only the expression on her face could tell him how grateful she was. She wished it was as easy as opening her mouth and actually saying it, but that just wasn't going to happen. She took a step back to give him some space, she didn't like it when she was crowded, so she didn't know if he did or not. She sat down again and waited.

Axle looked down at his paws in embarrassment. He had no idea what he should do now. "Your welcome... it was nothing, I guess. So um, where do you come from?" He did not lift his head when he asked that question. Usually it was always his dad saving lives, but this time, he had done it alone. A small glow of pride seemed to shine from his eyes.

Alice smiled at Axle she wanted to tell him 'Yes it was something it was my life! And you saved it..' She thought wishing she could say that, she opened her mouth and tried but not even a squeak, nothing. She shut it again before she looked silly, but she could tell he was a little embarrassed when he didn't look up at her when he asked the next question. This was hard, what would he do when he found out. If he could find out, and hopefully not think she was being rude or something by not talking. 'Okay Alice one thing at a time...' she mentally told herself. Her paw felt wet, some more blood must be there by now. She quickly licked it clean before it would make a mess of the white snow. She looked around the area thinking of a good way to point where she had come from. She once lived as a pup in the valleys these packs seemed to heading away from, from what she could tell. But she decided to try and make it on her own when she was as old as a young warrior. She felt silly doing this but she nudged him again and pointed with her noise to the valleys.

Axle lifted his head and looked towards the valleys "Oh, you come from there? Cool, I guess. I come from far away from here." He sighed and looked back down at his paws. "So what brings you here alone? Ya know, it can be dangerous on the ice. And other wolves..." Now he felt weird. What if this loner knew nothing about Blood Mist coming?

'Hmm..' She thought. How was she going to answer that one..? Maybe she should just tell him now? 'Wait..' she thought 'I have to show him some how...' But he was acting odd, as if there was something she didn't know... Where she came from everything was fine, so what could it be? Perhaps something from where he came from. This was too difficult she had to show him some how. Then a brilliant idea came into her mind. She nudged him again to look then quickly limped over to a near by pine tree. Sniffing the deep snow she found exactly what she was looking for, picking it up with her mouth she trotted back over and sat down in front of him. Using her wounded paw she lifted it as high as she could to try and say 'My throat'. Then opened her mouth as if to say speaking. Then nudged the pinecones with her nose, and crushed it with her good paw. She stepped back and looked at him hoping he’d understand.

Axle watched her with confusion. "Um... are you trying to say something? Hmm, I'm not good at charades." He thought to himself. So she had a pine cone, she opened her mouth, then she crushed the pine cone with her nose. He an answer, but knew it would sound weird. "You had accidentally eaten a pine cone and it got stuck in your throat. Now your having trouble talking and breathing through your mouth?" His ears flicked.

Alice tilted her head to the side, and gave him the 'no that’s wrong' look. She shook her head and thought for another moment. She felt like shouting, not at him just letting out a long howl that she never could. Because of her lost voice she never could let anything out and usually kept it all in. What else could she do? She thought for a long moment, then her eyes shot open. She looked to the water, standing up she carefully walked over to the edge of the water. She picked up a piece of ice that had flew up on the land when they had jumped out. Slowly picking it up with her mouth. A shiver ran through her body. She quickly walked back over to Axle before the ice had a chance to melt. She gently set it down then she made sure he was looking. Then she let out a silent howl. Which is tried to imply as voice. Then took her paw and broke the ice. She flicked her ears and sat back down.

"I'm guessing your telling me that something is broken, right?" Axle thought for a long time before he came up with another idea. "Something is broken, that's for sure. Maybe it's a body part, or is it something else?" He scratched an ear with confusion and looked up at the fae. A slight smile was across his face.
