Alice nodded her head when he said broken. But he wasn't under standing what she was trying to tell him was broken. Was it broken? Or did really just not have a voice. Well broken would have to do, she couldn't think of another way to show broken, or not working. She stood up and walked a few steps. 'Think...think..' She thought hoping to get another idea. After a few moments one did come, but she'd look really crazy if she did go through with it, but what other thing could she do. But before she did she tried to give him the 'I'm going to do something that seems crazy but I’m not' look. Although she wasn't sure if there was a look for that. Making sure Axle was looking; Alice stood up and turned as if another invisible wolf was there. She opened her mouth as if she was talking. Then quickly limped over to the opposite side as if she was the other wolf and opened her mouth as if talking back. She turned her head back to Axle and hoped he'd get it this time...She was running out of ideas.

I must've gotten the broken part right, Axle thought. But what is she doing now? He closed his eyes and thought really hard. When he opened them again, they were wide and bright. "I have another idea! Something is broken... Can you... talk?" He cocked his head to one side. Could she have a broken voice or something?

Alice spun around to face him as best as she could with her wounded paw geting in the way, and nodded. A gleam in her eyes showing he got it right. She sat down on her hunches, and let out a silent sigh. That was harder then expected...She looked down, a tad of sadness creeping in. She wondered if he'd ask anything like 'is it temporary, or can it be fixed?' Because as far as she new the sad truth was no. How could it possibly be fixed when she was born with no voice? She doubted a healer might know anything about it, but then again. The one she had visited when she was a pup new something about it. But she was thinking ahead of herself again. Alice shook her head to clear all the thoughts, and then looked back to Axle thinking 'I think way to much...'

"Yes!" yipped Axle. He looked back down at his paws again. "So are you able to tell me how long your voice has been broken?" His ears and tail twitched in anticipation. Maybe there's a way to help her. I don't know anything about broken voices, though; I'm used to helping blind wolves.

Alice couldn't help but let a small smile come across her face at his happiness. But then he asked another question that made her think for a while. She was trying to think of a way to show how long her voice had been gone. Using her left paw, because if she took weight off the right one, then she'd fall flat in the snow. Very carefully she lowered it to the ground as if she was showing the height she would have been when she was born. She looked at Axle and tilted her head to one side. She wondered if he'd pick up on this one.

Axle smirked as he watched her. "Eh? I guess that'll be a little hard for you to tell me. I guess you also can't tell me your name. Oh well, might as well know mine. It's Axle." He slightly smiled "What brings you here, though? Are you traveling across the mountains, too?"

Alice nodded as he said it would be hard for her to tell him, just like everything else was also so difficult to do with out a voice. She felt useless at the moment. Her ears pricked up when he told her his name. She nodded and smiled, 'It's a nice name...' she thought. She was frustrated she couldn't tell him hers. 'Too?' She thought, so he was traveling across the mountains, and he wondered if she was. Well she sort of was traveling but she wasn't exactly sure where. So she guessed she could travel over the mountains too. Alice nodded her head again, she looked down at her paws, and she opened her mouth and took in a cold breath of air.

"Cool. Guess I should get going, but I've hardly had any sleep last night." He yawned and stretched. "Guess I might find a cave to rest for awhile... D-do you want to come?" His small smile turned into a grin as he tried to act as nice as he could. I should also be getting back to where everyone else is. My dad will be very angry, though. I hate it when he's angry.

Alice looked back up when Axle started to speak again. She listened closely like she usually did, her parents told her she'd always have to because she wouldn't be able to ask anyone to repeat what they said. A smile crept onto her face and she nodded her head standing up. She looked over to the water; he had been on the other side when he had come to save her. She looked around trying to find a ways around. Then gave Axle a look that said. 'Which way?'

Noticing Alice was looking at him, Axle turned away. "Let's see, By now, the ice will be breaking and cracking everywhere. Guess that means we may be here for awhile." He looked back at Alice. "But that doesn't matter. I'm sure nothing is going on with the packs. Let's go find ourselves somewhere warm." He started walking next to the water. He didn't want to lose sight of it just in case.

Alice nodded and started to follow beside him. She started to wonder a bit about the packs he had spoke about. Her family was only the three of them. Her and her parents. Sometimes her mother’s brother would visit. But it would be at random times because he had lived far from them. Her paw was starting to feel better now; the cold must of numbed the pain down. That she didn't mind. She wanted to ask Axle some questions about why he and the packs he spoke of where traveling over the mountains. But she couldn’t maybe he'd tell her eventually.

"Have you always been a loner?" Axle asked. He was starting to get really curious. Maybe he might have a friend that he could visit whenever they reached the new lands... That is... If they ever reach the new lands. He paused for a moment and looked over at the mountains. Shaking his head, he continued walking. We will make it.

Alice quickened her pace so she would be walking right beside him instead of a few steps behind. She turned her head to him and nodded to his question. She had been a loner all her life, and she didn't mind it. She liked the feeling of being able to take care of herself, and adventure wherever she wanted to go. She still wished she could tell him her name thought and more about herself then simple yes or no questions. But it was better then nothing so she was okay with it.

"Ever thought of joining pack? It could be a lot of trouble sometimes, but it helps when you get old and can't take care of yourself." Axle shrugged. He wasn't worry about getting old anytime soon. A small wind blew along with a few flakes of snow. Some landed on his nose and he just got them off by scraping a paw over his nose. Best to be warm than cold.
