Tahoe saw a toad and began to gnaw viciously, sinking his teeth into it's wet back. He then began to choke. "ACK!"

Milo scented the air, ears twitching as the wind ruffled his fur. A new home, a new day. A new life. Everything was new... Even the sound of his brother choking when he stumbled into sight. "Tahoe??" Milo yelped, blinking in surprise. "What the heck? Are you alright!?"

Tahoe spit out the vile toad. Yacking, he raised his head towards his brother. "That was unpleasent."

Milo opened his mouth in a silent gag, revealing the pink of his tongue. "Why in the world would you try to taste a toad--" He cut himself off, staring a fly that had landed on Tahoe's nose. Milo's eyes were wide, staring at the fly. Studying it. He licked his chops hungrily. "Don't move." It appeared that all the traveling had left the wolf very hungry indeed.

"You're kidding me.. are you?" Tahoe choked out the words as he began to back away in fear. Milo just stood there.

"Shhh," Milo whispered, dropping into a crouch. "This will be over very--" he licked his lips again-- "soon." He launched himself at his brother, shoving Tahoe to the ground. In a swift gulp, the fly was down his throat and in his stomach. The lupine brother's tail wagged his tail contentedly. "Yum. Food." He shook himself happily. "First snack in ages, it seems... at least, after being in those snowy mountains for so long!"

"Go find yourself something else to sink your teeth on! Im still using my muzzle!" Tahoe joked as he rubbed his face with his paws. Tahoe edged closer to Milo and pointed to the valley that stood at the side of the to wolves. "That is where we must travel."

Milo followed Tahoe's gaze to the low swampland nearby. "You think there's any deer here... you know, like there was at our old home?" The pale orange fur that tipped his muzzle ruffled in the breeze that skidded across the landscape. Along with it, there was the answer to his question... The wind carried with it the scent of doe. "That piece of land over there is starting to smell better and better!" he yipped, whiskers trembling at the delicious smell.

"Not yet, soon though." Tahoe sighed as he rolled his eyes in frustration. Out of the nearby thicket beside Milo came a plump rabbit. Tahoe grunted, as if he knew how this was going to end.

Instantly, Milo's ears were erect. His eternally-hungry stomach forced him into a lunge. After the lunge, he couldn't resist a follow through chase. "Rabbit!" he howled in delight, dashing after the hare. His prey dodged his first blow and sped expertly into the undergrowth. But nothing could slow Milo down at this point. Ever-hungry, ever-hyper, and never tired, Milo would chase it until the rabbit was no longer in sight. The hare tore into the swamplands, skidding a small pool of collected murky water... with Milo just behind. Finally, the prey dove sideways into a hole. Milo, however, couldn't follow... and, when trying to slow himself down, lost his grip on the peaty soil. He slid into the waterr, eyes spinning blindly around, desperatel searching for where his prey had gone. "O snap," Milo muttered crossly, fur dripping.

"Stand up! You look like a lost, helpless pup!" Tahoe growled. He held his paw out towards Milo and sighed, "Get out of there you clumsy pup."

Milo narrowed his eyes mischievously. "You do realize we're twins-- that means we're the same age." He rolled onto his paws, dislodging the muddy water from his pelt with a brisk shake. "That would make you a pup too." He grinned, shoving Tahoe playfully. "I love logic!"

Tahoe gave a pity laugh and turned his back away from Milo. "We've better get moving. We need shelter and some food if we are going to be stuck out here in this swamp for the night." Tahoe barked as he nudged Milo into following him.

"Alright, alright," Milo yawned. He was getting tired, and he wasn't quite sure why. "Well, there's bound to be more rabbits around here..." He paused, eyeing Tahoe idily. "Though I should think that you would perfer to hunt this time, seeing as you never fall into muddy pools of water when you're hunting." He allowed himself to smirk happily at his response.

"It's just you," Tahoe joked as he, surprisingly, was the first one to enter the cold, moist cavern. Milo was fast behind him. Tahoe's paws swelled up with pools of water, his pelt became ice cold, and his ears became erect at the echoe of the dripping of water.
