The dappled femme had been in pain since the previous evening. Now, as the sky was alive with stars and the colors of the Northern Lights, the pain sharpened. She held back a whimper. Her denmates, consisting of Tangerine, Stigg, Twilla, Birch, and Vuelo gathered around her, murmuring words of comfort. Tangerine pushed thyme in her direction, and Liv took it gratefully.
The first pup came suddenly, as she was swallowing the last bit of thyme. He was a dark grey brute, with black fringes. "Paris," she whispered.
The second was a femme, silvery blue with specks of grey and white. "Annanti," she murmured.
The third was another male. He had streaks of white and black running through him, and his fur was like feathers. She licked his forhead and branded him, "Signus."
The fourth and final, a brown and cream fae, curled up beside Liv. "And you will be Lucille," she sighed, thoughts dwelling on her mother.

Mirage was torn from sleep with pain like someone driving a thron into her mind. The fae sat bolt-upright, nearly hitting her head on the ceiling of her den. The black fae knew at once what it was, Liviana's familiar taste lingering in her mouth though it had changed. Rising to her paws, Mirage slipped out of her den and started running. She was trusting her empathy to draw her to Liviana, as well as scent. As she drew closer, the emotions of others also began to cloud into her mind but Mirage focused. Liviana's pups. Their innocent, simple thoughts swirling in her mind, nothing but warmth and fur, their mother, their siblings. Mirage slowed as she neared the den, ears forward, simply listening in the shadows of the night.

A familiar scent wafted towards Liv, and she smiled slightly. She wasn't in pain anymore, and her four healthy pups curled up close to her. She sighed, content. She thought she'd still be unhappy, but seeing her sons and daughters made her blues disappear. When the time came, they would decide to go to the Siverians or stay free-roamers. Untill then, she would teach them all she knew.

Mirage turned her muzzle skyward and howled a song of congratolations to her friend. Liviana seemed to no longer feel the discontent and unhappiness she had felt when originally pregnant. It seemed that seeing what she had done in bringing her young into the world had eased her sorrows and woes. In that case, Mirage was happy. Mirage let her howl die and turned, gliding back toward the undergrowth. In time she would come back to meet the pups, but with others there with her Mirage wasn't sure she could approach safely without getting mangled.

Tangerine nodded to Liv, smiling, too. "I think it's time we've head off. These four are quite able to take care of themselves now, and I have some business I've been meaning to get to. It would be likely that our paths cross again, friend. We wish you well with your pups," Tangerine spoke. The four younger wolves glanced at each other, then silently agreed to stay with each other. Tangerine might leave them, as they didn't need a gaurdian, but they'd been through too much to leave each other now. They left the warm den and made off in two different directions.

And Tumbleweed was there in a second. Sniffing the pups, examining every inch of them to make sure they were okay. He smiled. "Clear." It was amazing how fast he could move for an old wolf.

"Excuse me, but who in Hellfire's name do you think you are?" Liviana stood up, stepping protectively between her pups and this strange, funny smelling wolf. She glared murder at him. "Touch them, and die."

Sensing a newcommer, Mirage doubled back, a low snarl rumbling in her chest as she saw another wolf standing too close to Liviana and her young for comfort. Mirage bared her fangs as she drew closer, hackles rising. "You'd best leave. Liviana is known for making good on her threats" Mirage barked in a clear voice. "No healer is needed here." Mirage raised her tail, showing defiance if the brute decided to struggle or turned out to be a loner gone bad.
