The winds rolled bitter in this valley, but a sweet scent was spreading rapidly. Long forgotten, the sparkling form emerged from the woodlands, eyes half-closed in an undying sorrow. She was merely a ghost, and image descended from the stars to mourn elsewhere. It was indeed fair to say that the departed wolves of Twilight were far sick of her never-ceasing weep... Diablo...where are you now? Can you hear me? Are you still breathing, love? Does it matter anymore? Would you come if I called your name? Do you remember me? Remember my name? Are you safe? And if none of my questions are answered yes, then please set my story in the stars, somewhere safe, where I can rest in the eternal fantasy that the love is still there and you never left my side...

Footfalls exploded into a roar within seconds, and all the great beast could do in response was flee with all his strength flying from his heels. He could feel the sticky, unnatural saliva licking his foot... he could feel the glazed, maddened eyes trained upon him. There was a hungering here, and for a moment Diablo nearly stopped completely, ready to allow his face to be devoured by this rabid being. But an unknown force-- his instincts, apparently-- forced him into the continuous run cycle still. Do it now. No. Finally, Diablo saw a dip in the earth and seized his chance, ducking suddenly into the ditch so as to allow the ill wolf to fly over him, stumbling to a stop in utter confusion. That was all the time Diablo needed to leap from the hole and deliver a fatal blow to the head, diggin his claws into the skull and pulling his head back. He didn't want to catch the vile disease. But he had missed his mark. There was a howl of pain, but no silence. The rabid wolf twisted about and dug its fangs into Diablo's ear. Diablo roared furiously, and kicked the being away from him with all his strength, shoving the canine into a tree. And, at last, the blood loss caught up with it, and the wolf was dead. The demonic-looking wolf stood panting, only to twist about, clawing viciously at his own ear. Must... remove... Must... not... get... infected... Blood sprayed continously, and the clearing soon resembled the scene of a massacre. Must... or must I? Should I?

Lucinda closed her eyes at her mates self-harm. Sighing sadly to herself, she opened them and padded over to Diablo. It's no use, love. The sickness is in you already, just as it is in every wolf alive. Leave it be.

Diablo froze at the sound of his lost mate's voice, jumping up and swiveling around, trying to catch a glimpse of his lover. "Lucinda?" He paused, still as he stood in his bloody tracks. His ear was bright red, and he knew that Lucinda wouldn't like to see him like this. He swallowed his guilt, and stared down at the ground. "...why are you here?"

The same reason I've never left. I won't leave until I know my fears are true, Diablo. I won't leave until you tell me that we can never be again, that you have moved on or found another...that our love is not. Her form flickered, her grief almost overpowering as she pronounced the words that tasted bitter on her tongue.

(crappy post-- sorry ) Diablo's eyes widened-- he was shocked, but felt another emotion that he did not expect. Fury. "How... how could you even think that I would love another?" Diablo whispered, withers rising.

(you're right -- he is a poor little idiot ) Lucinda's ghostly eyes met his with a steady gaze, a single tear falling from her pools. I didn't at first. But they didn't let me leave, Diablo. They keep me a prisoner in paradise, and I can't stop the tears. Paradise does not exist. No, not unless you're there. But they didn't let me come here...said it would only make my pain worse. If it was possible to die again, I would've. But it's not. And so they locked me away with nothing but my misery for company. What else was I supposed to be thinking of, Diablo? Liv told me what was happening ever since her death. I didn't know what to think. And I knew that it was still there somewhere, even if you'd succumbed to madness, you couldn't just wipe me away....no, that's not you. But maybe you could. She shook her head, confused and disoriented. It had been a long time since Lucinda had stood on her own.

(lol-- but I couldn't love him any other way ) Diablo was now having trouble supressing a tremble that was clawing its way up his spine. Did Lucinda... did Lucinda not love him anymore? "...I still love you..." the brute murmured. "...but I-- things are getting fuzzy, and..." He couldn't quite explain how he felt. He was positive that he loved Lucinda, but everything that had happened... havoc and chaos were now spilling over the sides of his mind, flooding his emotions. ...what is happening here? To me? To us?"...do you still love me?"

Yes, Diablo. More than you could ever know. Her paws trembled, as if she was uncertain of something, But after only lingering for a moment, she rose, then came close to Diablo, her transparency brushing a light breeze against his pelt. And I swear to you I'll never stop.
----- Rhain coughed overhead. "Lupus, I think we need to plan another wedding!" XD

Diablo closed his eyes, anger suddenly washing from his limbs as an emotion stronger than all others crashed upon him. Love and care went into the soft wind caressing his chin, and Diablo relaxed. "...I need you to believe that I feel the same about you. I may be messed up right now... but it won't be long before I get better. I still love you, Lucinda-- and I always will."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"...another one?" Lupus woofed, rolling his eyes. "What's with all dead wolves suddenly getting married!?" He flicked his ear, tapping the seeing pool lazily with a paw as he observed the ghost and the beast talk. "..what's next? A dead wolf giving birth up here? I swear...."
Then I will walk from here and to the stars once more and take that with me, and let it burn through the skies. She smiled suddenly, a soft glow illuminating her form. Watch the stars tonight, Diablo. And be safe. I can't stay any longer...I've already passed my welcome....but.... She hesitated momentarily, then added, find Annanti. There's a gang in the forest -- under Black Fury. They're tracking Annanti and her mate....and Fade....what has become of her? With a sudden alarm surging through her, Lucinda's form began to disperse. I love you! And she was gone.
-------------------------- Rhain yawned widely. "Thorn's already done that, Love," she sighed. "Trust me, THAT will not be an everday occurrence. I suppose it's because of our boredom, really. Which is quite a silly thing. We've got a whole woods that's never been explored and we're all sitting here like a buncha stalkers!"
