Laika padded swiflty through the fresh growing greenery, making sure to be silent and stealthy. No one had seen them leave the Moonless Meeting, and with luck, no wolf would find out what they were about to do. She looked back to make sure Okashii was still with her. She was suprised that the neophyte had actually followed her, but was also immensely grateful. The task at hand would be much easier with another mind at work, and not to mention it would be easier to find Crow with Okashii's help. Her plan was simple, really. She wasn't sure why it had not occurred to her before. Two moons ago, Laika had overheard Mist speaking with one of the healers about a dream. In the dream, it had been revealed that a legendary fifth pack, the Miran Pack, had once roamed the mountains. They had all died off, one by one, of a mysterious illness. When but five remained, including the alphess named Mira, four were sent out to the four main packs to live the rest of their days. Mist had speculated about Sparkling Ember, but otherwise hadn't heard of anything like it. The dream they spoke of went on to say that the spirits of Mira's warriors led her to their resting place, the Spirit Wood. Mira made the mistake of spending a night there, and was from that point forward bound to silence. A prophecy was given to her, and has never been heard by any living ears besides Mira's. Mira's duty is to find the wolves it mentions, and to do it before the time is too late. She is to lead them to the spirt wood, where the meaning of her prophecy would unfold. But the healer had told Mist, also, that Mira may very well be among one of the packs...but so could her pursuer. This pursuer is a former Blood Mist denizen, and has attempted to take Mira's life before. She will not rest until the prophecy fails, for if it does, this villian will be blessed in some way by the maker of the illness.
When they were far enough from the clearing, Laika relayed all of this to Okashii. "Okashii...we need to find Crow. He lived in the mountains most of his childhood. We need to know what made them leave."

Okashii was wide eyes. "B-blood Mist? B-b-blood MIST!?"
Okashii had a very extreme, very secret, fear of Blood Mist. Her family had been plagued with the horrible, grotesque doings of the horrendous pack. It made her blood run cold and her fur stand on end. "To the mountains then. But..." She trembled slightly. "I am NOT going to mess with this stalker guy."

Laika swallowed hard, then nodded. "Then maybe we should go to where it happened..." she whispered, referring to Saskia's death. "Only so we know what the sent of the killer was....so we can avoid it at all costs. And maybe Crow's scent trail is still around there...." she added, eyes widening with fear. She was very afraid, but Laika knew it had to be done. For her father's sake, for her pack's sake. And for the good of all wolves who had even breathed the air. "Let's go....quick, and quiet." Though Laika wasn't sure if it mattered much. Nothing could keep her from pursuing this, but at the same time she wasn't sure if they would even make it back before morning. Right now, it didn't matter.

Okashii was glued in the spot. "Laika, you can't go into Yozoran Territory! Someone will smell you. Or... they'll think it's someone else. Someone very close to you." She couldn't bear to say it. She had her mother and grandmother's communication skills, and it was no secret that many of the Yozoran and Sheeran wolves were suspicious of Kiba and Owen. She didn't doubt Kiba's word though... not much.

Laika sighed. This had occurred to her too, but in the adrenaline rush of their discoveries, she'd started to become reckless. "There's a garlic patch over there. I'll roll in it." she offered, wrinkling her nose. She glanced over at Okashii, a sudden sad smile upon her face. "You know about Owen and Kiba, don't you?" she sighed. "Owen doesn't think I know...and he thinks I'll tell." she rolled in the garlic while waiting for Okashii's response.

Okashii frowned slightly. "She's my denmate. Of course I know. But I deny it. It's not like no one else knows." She sighed. "And Light's suspicious, too. He's always been." Okashii grinned slightly. "Hey, Laika, we're like inlaws."

Laika laughed. "And how exactly are you and Kiba related?" she asked, curious. Then she frowned. Standing, she murmured, "Does Light know who among us, or just suspects a Sheeran...?" If this love became and endangerment to her pack, she didn't know what she would do. Before now she would've reported it, but she and Owen were becoming quite good friends as he went through his training and began to think more like a warrior-aged wolf. Dark stirrings moved in her, but she pushed them away. Don't think about that now. We need to find Crow!

Okashii shrugged. "It's not like Kiba and Owen keep it hidden very well. Sometimes I question their smartery. And I'm not related to Kiba. It just feels like she's my sister sometimes."
(and Oka says Kiba and Owen aren't bright! 'smartery' pfft XD)

"Oh," Laika murmured. She continued on their trek into Yozoran terra, alert and on edge at all times. She didn't like being here, but knew it was a necessity. "All right...lead the way."

Okashii followed. "This way." She took the lead and trotted briskley through the forest. "Hurry. This place gives me the creeps and I live here."

Laika dashed after her, an overwhleming scent of death clogging her nostrils. But through it, she began to define the scents of the wolves who had been here on the blackest, coldest of nights. Saskia's was there....Crow's was....Light's...a few other Yozorans.... There it was. A tremor of terror shot down her spine. This scent...the very taste of it was menacing, as if the prescence lingered there still. Laika swallowed hard. "A-All right...lets head after Crow..."

Okashii broke into a quick run, nose to the ground. She was ready to get away from the stench. The horrible, hiddeous stench of death. And she wasn't waiting on Laika.

Horror spread through Laika as Okashii plunged forward. That's why the scent is so strong...the killer never left! She's still here! SHIT! "OKASHII WAIT---HELLFIRE NO!" Laika was paralyzed, trembling terribly as the white wolf leaped neatly in front of her, a dark laugh issuing from it's maw. "Want to play, little girl?" "OKASHII RUN! FIND CROW!" Laika's eyes were wide with shock and dreaded realization. "I...I know who you are....you won't get away with this....once the packs find out... "They won't find out, dearie..." the voice drawled, the white femme getting closer and closer to Laika. "They will never have a clue." "Y-You're w-wrong..." Laika was crying now, glancing behind her at the sharp cliff face. "No. This is, perhaps, the end of me, but Silence will slay you. I know it from my heart." Laika swore, glaring at her pursuer with a venomous glare. "Okashii...this wolf's name is L---" Her words were slit by the devil's black claws, blood spraying through the air as Laika collapsed and fell from the Crown Of Lupus. A scream echoed behind her, the only sound she could still utter.
The fae turned, licking her lips, eyes locked on Okashii. "I won't bother with you. You don't know who I am....it was before your time....go ahead. Enjoy the life you have left." She turned away from Okashii, the snarled darkly, "you don't have much left!"

Okashii spurted out a terrorized screech. "LAIKA!!" She let a few tears slip before anger overtook her. She sped through the forest again, searching furiously for Crow. The scent was growing stronger every second. "CROW!" she cried.

Crow heard a far off scream in the distance and froze. There was no questioning where that sound had come from...he knew the place very well.... He turned and sprinted back to the place he hated, his hellfire on earth. Lupus tell me there's not another one...
