Darius wandered across the windswept meadows, knowing full well he shouldn't have tried to track the killer by himself. However, he wouldn't endanger Akaira, Santi, Vee, or his pups on this journey. He would return at nightfall, regardless if he found anything or not. He would then resume his search after he'd rested a bit. He had every intent on finding the wolf who'd slain the body outside of their den, but knew he had to be practical, and on top of his game. He whirled around suddenly, wolf scent pricking his nose.

Misty walked solumnly through the tall grass. The long blades moved as their distant cousins did underwater. The fae's direction was uncertain, though her intentions were the same. As her mother Luin was doing, Misty liked to wander through the Loner Territories. Her allegiance was to no pack or clan, but to the common good.
Suddenly she picked up the scent of another wolf. The fae's ears twitched as she listened.

Darius followed the scent, coming to a crossroads with a young femmora. She seemed solemn, perhaps even determined to do something. However, Darius could tell from first glance this was not the killer he was tracking ;; besides, the scent was all wrong, and the wolf who had killed Hariet was a male. He nodded slightly to the wolf. "Hello...I'm Darius. Who might you be?"
Maybe she knows something about our night stalker...

Misty wasn't surprised by the sight of the brute who stepped out of the tall grass nearby. He didn't look like one of Black Fury's, so she kept calm. Darius hm? Sounds a little familiar. "I'm Misty," the fae replied. Then she grinned slyly, "You wouldn't happen to be a rogue would you?"

Darius shook his head, not fearing the young'un. There was no point in concealing his identity, though he would be careful to keep his voice down in case the wolf he'd been tracking was about and nearby. "I prefer the term loner. I live near the Twilight Lake. I was wondering if you'd seen anything...violent in this area lately? There have been some rather unfortunate events near my home lately, and I'm looking for the culprit."

Misty's grin became a emotionless one. "I haven't. I too am looking for a culprit. It's to avenge a personal offence." She wasn't ready to speak of the death of her father, Coldfire, to anyone just yet.

Darius nodded evenly. "Do you happen to have a name? I'm looking for the murderer that calls himself Loni...though I'm not quite sure where he makes his den. I'd rather not go that far if I don't have to..." (Me too  ) |

(she gave her name two posts ago  "I don't know any wolf by that name," Misty replied. "But if he's a murderer, I don't expect him to be staying in one place for long." She was pretty about that. |

( I meant a name for the killer  ) Darius nodded, scenting the air once more. So there's more than one killer about in this area...hm. They probably won't stay in the same area if they know of each other's presence... "You don't live out here by yourself, do you?" Darius asked, concerned. If any wolves with murderous intentions roamed here, Misty might be a target, especially if she was out looking for wolves like that... |

"She was called Lithium," Misty said with a hint of disgust in the name.
"I'm well trained to defend myself," she said with a small smile. "I've lived alone for a while now. No real trouble so far has scratched me." Misty was slightly in debt to her mother for that. She usually steered clear of trouble because she had made no real enemies except for her father's killer. Upon learning about Lithium, she and her sister made it part of their agenda to seek Lithium out and avenge Coldfire. Not many other wolves took the initiative to cause Misty harm.

Darius nodded, accepting her words. It was apparent Misty had learned to hold her own and live a solitary loner lifestyle, and Darius wasn't there to father her, anyway. "Lithium...I've never heard the name before," he admitted, wishing he could've helped the wolf a little more. "But I'll keep my ears open and reach you if I hear anything. I suppose I should go back and make sure my family is still safe...if you ever need a roof for the night, just look near the Twilight Lake," he woofed. Glancing over his shoulder anxiously. The forest seemed....tense. Something was amiss here....

"I'll remember that," Misty said. She was about to let him leave, but then she sensed something as well. The fae sniffed the air. Something was wrong in the valley and no mistake.

The killer lurked in the tall grasses, making little noise as she stalked closer to the wolves. She remained hidden from sight, but a rustle had led to her exposure. She cursed darkly, but slunk low to the ground, still intent on her prize. She silently and swiftly assembled all that she knew of the situation:
Loni was hunting near Akaira's den, and killed a fae. Akaira contacted her denmates, including this brute named Darius, and they came looking for him, idiots. Akaira resides near the Twilight Lake, then...he'll be pleased with this....
She considered attacking then and there, weighing her options. If she killed Darius, Akaira would be unwarned. Then again, if she didn't, they'd most likely disperse, which would mean less wolves to fight.
No...it's better if he's dead....
She leaped at Darius, claws outstretched, a battle howl breaking through the air.
Darius had no time to dodge the attack, he collapsed in a heap under the she-wolf's powerful hits. "MISTY! Run...warn my mate and our children...Twilight Lake!" He barked, knowing full well to coneal the location was useless. The fae would already know. He turned, biting into her ear.

Misty wanted to fight, but knew that Darius cared for his family too much to just let them stay exposed. The fae swiftly ran off before the attacker could snatch a glimpse her way. Misty had a mission now. Wherever Darius's family was, she would find them.
The tall grass flew by lifelessly as she began to pick up speed. The woods were not far now. The bowl of the valley was ending and the ground became inclined. Misty sped up and out toward Twilight Lake, though it would take her some time to get there.
