One of my favorite artists of all time, Death Cab For Cutie, just realeased a new album. And, as usualy, the first track on the CD described my situations, our situation, quite aptly.

So please, just take a minute to listen and read the lyrics, even if you don't like them so much....the lyrics just remind me a lot about stuff lately...

well, I can't find a decent video on YouTube...so I suppose we'll make do with the lyrics....but look it up on iTunes or something if you get the chance.

I love their lyrics, and their songs, but I'm not sure if you'll like their music...they're an indie band, but they're more well-known than most, so who knows. =]

What is indie, anyways? I know the band which does some of my favorite songs ((one of them is in my siggie)) does indie songs.

Indie has two definitions:

-Any unsigned band or independent record label....;; not a major record label like Island...something like Fueled By Ramen.

-The second and more efficient use of the word refers to the musical genre of indie. Indie is relly three dfferent genres;; indie folk, indie electronica, and indie rock.
It's fairly hard to explain....er....

When you listen to indie music...after a while, an indie song just comes across as indie. The only real way to define the genre is to know it;; to hear the difference between indie songs and other sounds. So here are a few of my personal faves:

Indie is hard to define because there are so many ways to come at it. In short, it is independent music with a certain funk/spirit to it no other genre can capture

Angels & Airwaves is indie, The Killers are indie -- they're more Alternative, but a lot of Alternative is Indie -- not the screamers, tho XP
