There was a light drizzling over the Twilight Realm, the gray and silver goddess rested in the depths of the woods, making her den in a small, but cozy, root cave. Her clover green gaze rested on the droplets as they dropped to the ground, watching the water as it bounced up, then joined the puddle lakes. She leaned back, curling up in the damp, humid den. She closed her eyes momentarily, feeling small, but safe in this dark space. She crept away from the entrance, the darkness of the back almost comforting as she rearranged the nest of rabbit fur and moss. Satisfied, the femme laid down once more.
Silence drew on for moments that could've been hours.
Alone....yes, I'm alone....
Finally.
The rain came a little harder, but she kept the outward effects of her emotions in check. She allowed the sorrow to trickle down her face, but refused to cry out.
If there's lightening and thunder, Lupus will find me too fast. He can't see me like this...I need to be strong now....trust him...

The shadow melted into being, spilling out its contents onto the soaking floor of grass below. Suppressing a growl of annoyance when he landed awkwardly on the ground, Lupus jumped to his paws, shifting back to a normal-wolf form.
"RHAIN!" he howled. Where the hell do I start looking anyways!? He wasn't even too sure if she would answer him or not. If only we were in my realm... I always knew how to find things in my realm...
But that isn't my life anymore.
"Come on... we need to talk!"

Rhain cursed under her breath, then shook away the tears, the steady shower shifting back to the soft drizzle, still waiting to burst out again. Rhain emerged from the den, coming out from behind the tree and padded up behind Lupus. She appeared silently at his side, attempting to force a smile. It looked almost painful, and she gave up almost immediately, expression fading blank once more.

He swiveled about, sensing her presence. Seeing her false grin was almost as bad as witnessing her hurting tears fall from the pale sky above.
"..."
He felt all the words he wanted to use slip from his tongue, leaving him cluelessly staring into her eyes. It nearly.... intimidated him, this task of fixing their relationship.
"...why are you acting so upset?"
He bit down so hard on his tongue that blood drizzle down his throat.
Stupid question.

Rhain shrugged. "Upset? What are you talking about? It was just...er....too sunny! Yeah...and the roses were...dying. They needed a rain..." she blurted, words tumbled from her mouth almost immediately after Lupus stopped speaking. She winced as her voice cracked, but shrugged it off again.

Lupus felt a strange rage flash through his body, and before he knew it he had lashed out, holding Rhain's throat between his claws, shoving her back.
"Don't lie to me, damnit!" he snarled.
He was unsure where all this fury was coming from, but he found himself unable to control himself.

Rhain's eyes widened, not seeing Lupus' face in front of her, but that of another....
"Regulus, what's gotten into you? Is the pack moving again?" Rhain murmured, puzzled at his behavior.
Regulus paced, claws tearing into the earth with an alarming ferocity. "Would you just shut up? I can't think with all of your jabbering!" He snapped.
Rhain's eyes narrowed. "You're the one who came to see me! If you want to think, get out of my damn terra!"
He whirled, eyes livid, yet...something else was there,too....
"I said shut up god damnit you stupid fae!" He cursed.
Rhain stood, backing away as he came at her.
"R-Regulus...what are you doing? It's Rhain, love! You remember me! You have to fight this, Regulus...come on...don't let it get to you....damn you, Regulus! You've dealt with rabies before..." With a small cry, Rhain embedded her claws into Regulus' side, restraining the tortured creature from causing her further harm...
Rhain shook, trembling in Lupus' grasp.
Despite the cold anger in his eyes, she could do nothing but allow the tears to fall again, thunder rolling overhead. "Happy yet?" she choked out.

Unrestrained anger flooded his senses and he squeezed harder, feeling her blood rush through her veins just in his grasp.... pounding and beating like the heart that fed her life.
So fragile, a life...
But, just as Lupus was about to virtually strangle her, he felt a stinging on his eyes- tears- and he released her, staggering back from her form... eyes wide with the shock of what he had just done.
Or, rather, what he almost did.

Rhain was bleeding, but she scarcely cared. As he backed away, she sank to the ground, absolutely sobbing. She stayed like this for a long time before staggering to her feet.
"WHAT THE HELL DID YOU DO TO MY HUSBAND?!" She screamed, livid. "JUST GET AWAY FROM ME! AND YAKE YOUR DAMN ROSES WITH YOU! JUST GO!" She swayed, shaking againn. "...and go back to her. We all knew you would anyway. I believe you warned me, when we met, I wouldn't fix you. I couldn't help you. I didn't believe you. I guess I'M the one who has to take the fall then?" She snarled. "Just...just leave. And if Lupus is here....if Lupus comes back, he'll know where to find his wife." She turned, prepared to go, but suddenly frozen in her place. She still sobbed, and yet, the rain above had stopped. She looked up, nodded slightly, then began to pad away once more, dzzy.

"I am here!" Lupus cried furiously, tears bright on his eyes. He stumbled after her, trying to ignore the numb and dread that he felt deep in his heart. "I'm you're husband, for GoldenWolf's sake!"
Though just now... I didn't act like it much...

Rhain turned slightly. "No...this, I did this already!" She snapped. "I lived through this already! This wasn't supposed to happen in death, too! Isn't this heaven?" She faced him, ignoring the irrational desire to simply bury her head in his shoulder and stay there. Her position was tense, as if she was ready to dart at a second's notice. She no longer attmpted to hide the enourmous pain in her eyes, almost dulled over completely with agony. "I...I don't want to do it again. I can't do it again..." she muttered feverishly.

Rhain shook her head, not looking at Lupus. Could she even bring herself to tell Lupus about her past? "I know everything...everything about your past. It's a legend. of course I do...but you know nothing of me. Nothing but my parents' names..." she paused, hesitant. "I...I wasn't entirely truthful about it....because I convinced myself if I didn't say it...it wouldn't matter. But it does matter. And if you're....if you're my husband, then I can't do this again, and if you have...p-problems..." she was cracking now, tears pooling in her eyes as she searched the ground, looking everywhere but Lupus. "...then you need to fix them. Because I refuse to be your...your punching bag. I've had enough of that from...R-" She stopped, a feeling of nausea washing over her. She needed to say the name, she knew it. "...Regulus...."

Lupus wanted to rush over to her, to caress her muzzle and swear to her that he would never harm her as long as they thrived up in this realm. That everything would be just fine and nothing would ever happen again.
He wanted to say that...
But the words would only taste of bitter lies on his tongue, and he knew it.
He was unpredictable... and those problems... yes, he had problems. But he was just so.... furious...
"Regulus?"
The name interrupted his thoughts, making his ears straighten and point upwards, and made the back of his neck stand on end.
"...what did he do to you?" he asked very quietly, trying to piece everything he had heard so far together.

"We were fine at first," Rhain said softly, desperate to be over with it all. "Besides the fact that he was a rouge and I was a healer going behind my pack's back....yes...forget that part. We weren't....it was friendship and nothing more..." she swallowed, noting that her bleeding had stopped. "It was fine...everything was fine...until he joined Blood Mist. He talked about these....crazy things. He wanted me to come with him. He even said....he said he...loved me..." the words came out unbelieving, astonished as if she'd heard them for the first time, but the disgust and hatred was clear in her gaze. "But I didn't feel that way...I told him to leave. He came back the next day, bleeding and savaged. He said it was a bear...I don't know if that's true or not, but I went and got supplies to treat him...and when I came back he wasn't there. And that's when the....beatings......started...." Her calws kneaded the ground. "And Lucinda..." She paused, voice weak. "...we weren't lovers, Lupus....I think you can caculate what he did..."
