Every muscle, tendon, hair, cell, fibre of her being braced itself. Waiting for the final blow. New Moon did not fear the end of her existence, what did anything matter now that she had no one and nothing? The answer she had given, she was sure, would be the last words to ever leave her maw.
Surprise flickered across her icy optics as Lupus began to bind the wounds in cobwebs. Not even close to what she'd been expecting. "Oh, so the great god Lupus regrets as well?" It wasn't a sarcastic statement, or a mocking one either. It was curious, simply curious.

One ear twitched slightly as he tightened the bindings on one of the heavily bleeding wounds. Deciding that it wasn't a mocking tone, Lupus replied, "There are many things that I wish I haven't done that I can't change... more than I am able to count. And it seems-" he paused to take another cobweb in his mouth and begin wrapping another wound, "-that more and more regrets appear every day."

The slightest nod, one of understanding, was managed. A grunting sound from her maw as the cobwebs tightened around some of the heavier wounds. There were quite a few, the worst on her left hind leg and left shoulder. "Regrets, regrets... the list never seems to end, does it, Lupus? I wish I knew what I'd done to them... Rane, Myst, Roku... only Raku do I not care to ever lay eyes on again." A sigh escaped her maw. "Of course, none of it matters. Nothing matters but the present. And, my present consists of myself and a Lupus binding the wounds I now carry. No family. No friends. No lover. Just me, and a Lupus... and Rhain, wherever she be."

Lupus winced, stopping his work for a moment to stare into space. Rhain... "At the moment, Rhain is and will be anywhere that I am not... and that would be my fault. Another regret, I suppose..." He ruffled his ebony fur and forced himself to continue where he left off. "No. The list doesn't end... not even in Tartarus." I know from experience...

Canvas of ebony ash, darker then the darkest night it would seem, was streaked with blood. When the light flickered on it a certain way, it looked as if there were streaks of crimson throughout her ebony pelt. Fangs of scarlet would glimmer as she opened maw to speak once more. "Oh... and there's Fate, I lead her to her own death by having her fight by my side 'gainst Destiny. Fate's fate should not have been to die for no real reason..."
"Ironic that New Moon was born on the new moon and died on the new moon. Like a beginning and an end. So what is this now..."

"There is no now," Lupus growled suddenly, looking up at the fae. "We are beyond time...You've been born. You've met your end. And you've been cast into eternity." He tightened the last of the bandages with a tug with his teeth before adding, "There is no new moon here." And then he fell into silence, stepping back with some of her blood now staining his pelt... which made him notice that he, too, was bleeding from the encounter with Verlust. It's not like I haven't bled before he argued, dismissing it. "...you're bandages are secure," he murmured softly.

"Well then, if there is no now, then why do we still exist? What purpose could anyone have in a place where there is no time, no now, no past, no future?" The fae, finding some strength, shoved herself into a half sitting, half-lying, position. Optics turning upon Lupus once again. "Do we have a purpose now that we no longer truly exist?"

Lupus winced again. "...I asked the exact same question to the wolf who made the afterlife long, long ago... and recieved no answer." He closed his eyes tight. "...I suppose GoldenWolf wanted us to reflect on our lives or something... although I think I've spent more than a hundred years too many reflecting on my past." Clenching his fists, he added in a low tone, "Although, not all is lost... for one who is willing to risk everything. But then again, what is there to risk?" He nodded toward the corpse.... the headless corpse. "Forgive my temper- it has done much to ruin my life already. Apparently, it doesn't want to subside even in my death. He's still 'exsisting'... although his head is misplaced at the moment." Strangely enough, there was no twisted humor hinted in his voice. "Do you not hate me for what I did to Regulus?" Although I didn't exactly 'kill' him..

The words that seeped from Lupus maw took New Moon off guard. This wolf, this God, Lupus himself had asked the exact same question. It was odd enough to make surprise flash across her icy optics. Odd enough to make her listen ever more intently to what this creature had to say.
The final question made her wince a little. Slowly, carefully, crown was turned to gaze upon the be-headed corpse that was Regulus. There was a slight shake of the crown. "I cannot hate you if I do not know why you be-headed him and attacked him as you did. It would not be a fair reaction, for it would be one taken completely from emotion and no logic or thought involved." Optics were returned to the figure that stood near. "What exactly did Regulus do?"

Lupus drew in a shaky breath before answering. "...I was just recently informed that Regulus had- long ago- beaten and... raped my wife." He shook his head back and forth slowly. "...my anger makes me blind, and I got carried away..." And, once again, my temper is to blame for my misdeeds...

The fae's optics narrowed considerably at this information. "Why am I not surprised." Her tone was an irritated hiss, or snarl, hard to tell by the way it came out. Perhaps she was irritated because Regulus had done such a thing and never informed her. Perhaps there were other reasons. Tassel lashed slightly against the earth. Why did you never tell me about this? Are you some kind of idiot?!? Raping Lupus' wife? Although.... they probably weren't together at the time, but I don't know, I don't know when this happened. Never the less. IDIOT!

Lupus managed a slow shrug. "I didn't know either of them at the time- like I said, it happened long ago... but I guess it still made me a little... angrier than usual..." And that was putting it very, very lightly.

There was the slightest nod of her crown. Gaze shifted back to Lupus. "I can understand why. If anyone ever hurt my pups, if I had any, then I'd probably slaughter them. And if anyone ever hurt Regulus, without a good reason to, then i'd make their afterlife Hell. And their life too." Her crown was dropped back to her paws, an exhausted sigh escaping her.

Lupus opened his maw to say something, but stopped himself. Should I really-? Oh, come on. What's there to lose?" Sighing a little, he continued. "...what would you do if your lover was furious with you? And your old lover started... appearing everywhere... and you couldn't escape said lover unless you agreed to... give her a child?" The million dollar question! he thought bitterly.

Well Lupus... That's quite a question... Could this lover of yours be Verlust?
She blinked. "Well... let me see... If giving said lover a child would make said lover leave me be I would do such a thing. Of course, only with the permission of my lover, whom would see that said lover is tormenting me to the point that I am past the brink of insanity, past the normal insanity that seems to often envelop me and would allow me to do this thing that I didn't want to do for the good of our relationship." The fae twitched and gazed at Lupus in an odd way.
