Pheonix desperately licked Harley's fur, his breath increasing when she didn't respond. Maybe she didn't want to. Maybe her unconcious dreams were much better than the real world. Of course they were.
Light sobbed quietly in his nest. Alone.

Silence looked around her, eyes tired and weary. How many more deaths would be cause by tyranny and sickness of the mind? Too many. She had to stop this...somehow. She turned, heart heavy and torn, to return to the fruitless search that never ended. She would go to the Sheerans next. Perhaps Ember would be able to help... In the back of her mind, she knew that wasn't true. All of the wolves from the Miran pack were long gone. She was alone. Never alone! I'll find them....I have to. She ran from the camp, the urge to speak almost making her sick.

Harley was awake now, hysterical, of course. She was murmering to herself. "I should have saved her. I knew she would. I could tell. I could read her. I could have been there. Golden Wolf, kill me now. I don't deserve life. God, I should have been th-"
"Stop it. No wolf could help." Pheonix said, kind but stern.

The sun was starting to rise once more on the broken camp, and it was time for the wolves to accept the burden of grief that had been thrown at them and bear it. It was time for them to rise once more...
Crow and Saskia rose first, worn gazes softening at the sight of Olive, fast asleep against her father's chest. "Do you think--" "We should leave her be for now. I'm going to hunt...when she wakes up...I think she'll be stronger..." Crow whispered. Saskia's eyes grew slightly panicked. "What about---" "Not yet. She needs a chance to recover...we don't know for sure, anyway...." Crow added hastily. "Alright. I'll go with you."

Harley blinked her eyes open. She lifted her nose from where it rested under Sharpie's lifeless body. She sighed and rose, waking Pheonix.
Light stepped out of his den. A new day. A morning filled to the brim with the scent of death...

Crow and Saskia returned with prey clutched in their jaws, eyes weary. Their catch consisted of a small buck and a couple of snowshoes. Not neough to feed the grieving pack, but they would go out again as soon as they'd rested. The night had been an exhausting one, but as the sun rose above the horizon, it seemed as if the pack was resigned to fight again;; to fight whatever darkness might come their way. To rise again from their darkest day....

Light sighed and called to Crow and Saskia. "Would you help Harley and Pheonix take Sharpie out to burial? Oh, and please..." his eyes filled with sadness. "Find Holly. Bring her home."

A robin perched on a branch just above Light's head, the black, beady eyes boring into him. You won't find Holly, Light.
Crow's eyes clouded with grief, and Saskia closed her eyes for a long moment, then whispered, "Light...you're asking us to do the impossible. Only two wolves were capable of the impossible, and now they're both gone." She turned toward Sharpie's body and beckoned to Harley and Phoenix.

Light suddenly grew furious. "DON'T SAY THAT!" He yelled. There was more than anger there... there was grief. "She's not dead."
His voice cracked. "SHE'S NOT DEAD D*** IT!"

Saskia glared at Light. "Don't you even think about blaiming this on us, Light! You know fair well that she couldn't live without him, and vice versa! So let them be together in peace, Light! Lay them down to rest and let them have their damn peace!" Saskia snarled back. At this moment in time, Saskia couldn't care less that Light was her leader. Everyone was grieving, and nobody wanted to hear it, but denying the truth would get them nowhere. Light would have to understand that there were other wolves upset than just himself.

Light collapsed in a sobbing heap. Harley rounded on Saskia. "NOW LOOK WHAT YOU'VE DONE! CAN'T YOU JUST LET HIM HAVE HIS FANTASIES SASKIA! HE JUST LOST TWO OF HIS BEST FRIENDS! HIS PACK IS FALLING APART AND ALL HE WANTED TO DO WAS PRETEND HOLLY WAS ALIVE! HE'S HURTING SASKIA."
She snarled again and went to help Pheonix lift Sharpie off the ground.

Saskia's eyes watered, and she bared her teeth at Harley. "FINE! I'LL LET YOU ALL LIVE IN A WORLD OF MAKE BELIEVE! WE'RE ALL FUCKING HURTING, HARLEY, IF YOU HAVEN'T NOTICED! I WAS NEVER GOOD ENOUGH FOR ANY OF YOU, HUH?!" She rounded. "WAS I? No. YOU ALL TRY AND ACT SO HIGH, SO ALL-POWERFUL, WELL GUESS WHAT?! I'M FINALLY STARTING TO UNDERSTAND WHY CLOVE RAN AWAY!" She huffed, chest heaving. "Because when it all boils down, all that matters is how one wolf feels. Well, a pack is more than one wolf. Since we're not all clones of each other, someone gets kicked around...and I refuse to be kicked around anymore. I'm leaving." Saskia stood and padded towards the exit, shooting one last glare at Torn. "You should've just left Sylvana alone. Maybe then, I would be with my father right now, at least." She vanished.
All Crow could do was stare after the wolf he loved, his heart pumping madly. He flinched involuntarily, thinking of his mother. Clove had regretted her choice... but he could feel no sense of regret from Saskia, only disapointment. And the disapointment was bitter on his tongue. He stood, nodding curtly to Harley. His eyes were faded with his own disapointments, and he began to pad slowly after her. She wasn't going anywhere without him;; he refused for the same things to happen to Saskia that happened to his mother.

Harley ground her teeth together. She was getting a headache. She didn't have time to deal with a blind fae. Not blind in a litteral term, though. Instead, she nosed Light up, tears streaming down his face, and led him to his den. She then assisted a solemn Pheonix carry the dear senior out of the camp.

Olive frowned deeply, eyes weary. The older warriors were being unfair. Light was supposed to be a leader;; he'd been no leader when he'd yelled at Saskia like that. She had half a mind to leave the pack, too, but doubted they would let her. Instead, she stared after her two friends with worry and hopelessness. What had happened to her beloved pack?

Harley poked her head in. "He just didn't want to believe it, Olive. To tell the truth... none of us do."
