Poor forgotten Styx traveled the quiet Twilight Lake. He kept looking down at his paws and stopped every now and then to see if anyone else was around. Why would it matter much anyway? He was always alone. Always forgotten. Always 'poor forgotten Styx.' He wished ever since he left his old pack that he could find someone who could become his friend. He has yet to become successful, though, in this new land he hopes he will have luck. But it takes time to make friends. And first impressions are always a must. He walked up to a lonely tree and examined it. "Your lonely, too. You have no other trees next to you to... mingle with... All you get to do is look at the lake and watch wolves go by." After a few minutes of quietness he decided he would just start fighting the tree for some reason . He headbutted the tree and kicked it with his hind-leg. He slashed at the tree with his razor sharp claws until he got splinters. He sat next to the tree and looked at its marks. He smiled and said, "I win."After resting he got up and started walking again. Now something else had occurred in his mind. What if I join a pack. My old pack wasn't the best 'cause everyone there were losers anyway. Especially my siblings. Styx started to become angry and snarled. There are packs around here, aren't there. Maybe I should ask around. But then he remembered he was alone. I could find the packs myself. Someone will have to accept me! I'm strong. I'm a good hunter..Now that he had finished thinking, he decided he would hunt and see what he could find. Since the lake was here, he could try fishing. He never fished before, so that was a no. He started heading for the forest but walked a little slower so he could see if anyone else would come.

Natalia was out of the real Sheeran hunting grounds, but she didn't much care. Sure, the famine was technically over, but she wasn't the only wolf taking advantage of their temporarily extended hunting rights. It would be wasteful to ignore their privelage, though they didn't necessarily need it anymore. The prey had returned once more to her freshwater, rocky home. The Sheeran pack was growing fit and healthy once more. But other things were stirring, she knew this. All the wolves had sensed it at the gathering;; she'd seen their fur, along with hers, stand on end, and she'd seen the anxious murmurings and movements. Something bad was coming. The war might have been averted between the packs for now, but there was another one coming fast at them. Not to mention the one that was now officially declared against the tyrants that followed Black Fury. She prowled through the brush, debating on hunting land creatures or just moving straight towards the Twilight Lake. Well, the lake is there. There are many fish and woodland creatures alike in the Sheeran territories, but the neophytes are all starting with land prey. So I'll just add a little variety, then. She padded to the banks of the shimmering blue lake, eyes staring intently on the rippling water. A flash of silver and her claws flitting out, taking hold of the fish and delivering it a quick death. But as she looked up, she saw she was not alone. She stood, glancing over at the stranger with an even stare that gave away absolutely nothing. "Greetings, traveller. What might your name be?"

Styx pricked his ears and looked at the wolf who had just came. He looked at the fish and smirked. "Who am I? Who are you? It's not nice to just walk up and ask for someone's name. I guess.. it can be dangerous." His fur rose on end but he didn't move anywhere. "Anyway, my name is Styx. I'm a loner.. a really lonely loner.. But why would you care? You just came here to fish, eh?" He walked slowly towards the lake and looked into the water. He saw two or three fish swim by and he carefully raised a paw.
Styx splashed his paw into the water trying to grab it with his claws. The fish flew out but landed farther out in the water. Styx growled and kicked a rock into the water. "Forget those fish. They can eat each other like I would care what happens to them." He sat down and closed his eyes in anger. His ear was flat against his head and he was starting to snarl.

Natalia shook herself slightly, a river bug trying to attach to her cloudy white pelt. She seemed fascinated by Styx's little rant. She watched him carefully, silently before speaking again, "I'm Natalia, from the Sheeran Pack. And seeing as this is the land of Twilight, not really the loner lands, and the Sheerans have temporary hunting rights here, I think it's mandatory I do ask your name. And you're a bit depressed, it does seem." She hesitated, then added, "There are plenty of wolves in the loner lands. What is it that makes you lonely?"

A pack wolf? I have an idea, maybe I can ask to join. First impressions.. "I used to live in a pack far from here. Everyone ignored me even my parents and siblings. I met one wolf who was nice to me but he suddenly disappeared. For my entire life I've been lonely. I left my pack when I couldn't take it anymore. Yet I still haven't found a friend..." He opened his eyes and let out a long sigh. Then he looked curiously at Natalia and poked a paw into the water.

Natalia observed him silently, apparently deep in thought. After a long period of quiet, she spoke again, "You haven't made friends with the loners, most likely, because you are still a pack wolf at heart. Some wolves who leave their packs are meant to be loners, though most have too much packblood and spirit drilled into them that they cannot deny the yearn for a home, blood brothers and sisters, an extended family, in essence. Maybe you wouldn't be so bitter if you had a pack," she mused. "Our new alphess is receiving her lives from our Twilight Ancestors....but I suppose I could arrange a meeting."

Styx flicked his ears and the tip of his tail twitched. "Do you really think so? I always though I was suppose to be a loner for the rest of my life. But..." He paused for a long moment before he decided Natalia was right. "Ok then. I'll join your pack. So when can this meeting start?" He started getting really excited.

Natalia offered him a small smile. "Well, probably in the morning, when Lirenia gets back from receiving her lives. You've got a lot of enthusiasm," she noted. "You look little old for a mentor, but you'll probably need someone to show you the territories and explain our customs more clearly. Seeing as I'm the one that's going to be bringing you in, it will most likely be me." Her tone was a matter-of-fact one. Her eyes were staring into the water again, resuming her fishing. "We've just come out of a famine and prey is fresh and plentiful, but we didn't know our territories would regenerate this fast. We requested extra hunting grounds for one moon, so why not take advantage of it, eh?" She woofed.

"I wouldn't do it. Maybe some hostile loner might come and attack any pack wolves who hunt here no matter what the request was." He shrugged and splashed a paw into the water. A fish was right under him but it swam away just in time. "Stupid fish..." he mumbled. "How did you catch your fish?"

Natalia snickered at his remark about the loners. "Loners really don't give us enough credit. We train harder than they think...just because we aren't solitary doesn't mean we're soft. This forest is home to some of the most elite warriors our bloodlines have ever seen," she woofed, amused. "But there are some fierce loners...I just don't think they'd stand much of a chance against a whole pack unless they all band together...like Black Fury and his hideous shananigans." She curled her lips with distaste at the name. "Fishing? The key to good fishing is patience. Also, another thing to make sure is that your shadow doesn't hang out over the water too much...so basically, you have to be at a certain angle. At night that doesn't matter as much, but it's still something to look out for. Then, you wait. When a fish gets close to the surface of your area, lash out at it with your claws and remove it from the water," she spoke evenly.

Styx leaned back and realized he had another question. He decided to ask the question after he fished. He watched a bug land on the water and a fish slowly swim towards it. He slowly lifted a paw; making sure it cast no shadow over the water. When the fish was ready to attack, he instead lashed his claws on to the fish and threw it onto the ground. He watched the fish splash around and started thinking if he should kill it or let it suffocate.

"Kill it quickly" Natalia advised, "Or it will scare away the surrounding prey, and maybe even other fish." She flicked her tail slightly. It had seemed like Styx had wanted to say something but he hadn't. Well, if it's important or he has a question he'll ask it eventually. No spoon feeding will be done here. "Otherwise nice catch," she woofed honestly. For a first try it was quite remarkable, but then Styx was a well-grown wolf. He obviously had more experiance at things than a beginning hunter would. Though fishing was quite a different deal than most hunting.

((Do fish even have a neck?))
Styx grabbed the fish between his teeth and bit down on its back. "This fish taste weird. Uh... so what is Black Fury? I haven't been out in these lands much so I don't know what's going on." He smiled although he felt stupid inside.

Natalia tilted her head at this question, a little suprised, but she supposed if he hadn't been here long, he was lucky enough to escape Black Fury's torture. "Black Fury is nothing short of your worst nightmare. He's the devil, but not worse than Blood Mist was. And he's got a gang of rouges like him, tyrants and killers. They want to take over the packlands. Too bad they're already occupied." She woofed. "We've declared war against him and his gang --- 'we' being all the packs in this forest. I'm sure some of the loners wouldn't mind helping out either, seeing as they're in danger, too.

"Blood Mist?" Styx smile turned into a frown as he became more and more confused. How many packs are there? Why did Black Fury want to take the packlands anyway? He had a lot of questions but he told himself he'll ask after he joins the pack Natalia had mentioned earlier.
