Styx stood staring into the stream, watching the little silver fishies swim to and fro. He made sure his shadow wasn't to close to the water. A fish slowly swam to the top as it stalked a bug. ((Fish can stalk, right?)) Styx leaned a little closer and lifted a paw. His ears were strained forward and his paw was starting to rise. As the fish suddenly zoomed towards the bug, Styx was faster and threw the fish out of the water; it's silver scales shining in the light. Unfortunately, the fish landed near the bank of the stream and ended up rolling into the water. "Omigosh! Stupid fish."

The white warrior watched Styx idly from the underbrush. He was definitly determined, to come back here and try to fish again was something Natalia hadn't counted on. He seemed a good wolf, but each pack was different. Natalia hadn't been sure if he would fit in with Sheeran lifestyle. With a lot of practice, he could turn into something good. Well, we're both here, so might as well live in the moment, then. She sighed as he lost the fish and proceeded to berate it. "Oh, I'm sure the fish is shaking in his scales with shame, now!" She snickered with sarcasm. She rolled her eyes, but they were bright and not hostile. Emerging from the underbrush, she joined him at the waters edge. "Patience is key. And also, wait for it to get as close to the surface as possible. You need to be swift, but if you toss up much water, it will be enough for the fish to dart away if it is smart, like that one was."

"Fish don't deserve brains," growled Styx. He stared at the water and didn't even make a gesture for his greeting. He flicked his ear, but that was out of annoyance. He soon saw a large fish slowly swimming after another small one. If that one eats the small one, then I'll be able to catch two fish in one. His tail twitched and waited for the fish to eat the other.

Natalia eyed him oddly, seeming him grow irritated. Patience is not a huge trait, here, apparently. Oh, well, we'll have to make do with what we have. Sheerans don't survive on purely fish, though it is a large part of our diet. She followed his intense gaze towards the two fish, struggling to hide her snickers. Does he seriously think he'll get them both? If that fish eats it, it's gone. There's no making a dead fishy hack its food back up.....oh dear. I think my neophyte is crazy. She sighed, leaning against a willow tree and waiting for Styx to carry out his plan. Let him learn the hard way. I think that's best for now.

((ew, fish throwing up )) The fish started to open its mouth while the other one looked up at a bug calmly skidding the water. Here it comes!! As soon as the hunter was hunted and eaten, Styx lashed his paw into the water. As the water became less blurry, he noticed there was nothing under his paw. Just rocks and sand. "Forget fish. There's no point in going after something you can't catch."

Natalia sighed again, a bit exasperated this time. "Correction Styx: you can't catch the fish. Fish wouldn't make up half the Sheeran diet if no wolf could catch them," she ammended. "But fishing is a hard art, one you will learn before you're a full warrior, but a hard one to do so. We can practice more throughout your training, but for now, it might be better to try doing something simpler, first. Like woodland hunting," Natalia suggested lightly. "I think you've frustrated yourself too much to do much good here today."

((Hmm.. this is a stream... beavers..))
"Whatever." Styx sniffed around the stream. He caught onto some weird scent. It smelled like the stream, but it wasn't a fish. He started walking downstream; noticing some of the trees had weird looking teeth marks in them. Don't tell me there are actually animals that eat trees...

Natalia watched him, brow raised curiously, but did not follow or speak again. He's like a true freshie, exploring and getting to know the world for the very first time. Well, I suppose I can't blame him. Wherever he came from was most likely extroadinarily different than our homelands. It's probably all new to him. Best to let him explore for a bit, I suppose. I'll just sit here and watch. She studied his exploration with a mild interest, gaze flickering to the stream now and then, wondering if she should fish while she was here.

Styx soon found a large den like structure made out of all branches and logs. It laid in the middle of the stream and dammed up some of the water from getting by. "This is weird. I wonder what's in this thing." Finding o way of getting in, he started trying to pull out all of the branches. Something caught his eyes in the water though. A little brown creature that looked like a giant rat with a flat tail. "What is this?"

Natalia snickered, debating between letting Styx know he might get chomped on, or warning him about it. She knew he was supposed to explore the world on his own, but she also didn't think he would talk to fondly to her laughter if the beaver attacked him. Well, if it does attack, I'll just step in before it can do too much damage. This is too fun to interupt now! I'll just let things play out a bit more -- Adrian and Lilly Pad probably won't care.

((There should be a.. Neophyte Cruelty Law )) The creature slowly and cautiously swam to shore. Styx started to stalk it as the creature started to sniff a tree. When he was about to leap, the creature turned on him. He rushed for it, but instead he ended up with a deeply bitten right leg. He stumbled as the creature flad into the water and swam under the weird pile of sticks and logs. "That thing is like a giant rat with long teeth. This wound looks bad..." Styx started lick the wound clean, scared it may be infected

(( LOL -- they could have like a trial with Lirenia as the judge )) Natalia snickered a bit, then padded over to him. "That's a beaver, and you just disturbed its den," she woofed. She eyed his wound, growing more serious. "We should probably take you to see Adrian -- you don't want it to get infected," she woofed to him. "You have to admit, it was kind of funny, though," she murmured under her breath. "Do you need help walking or do you think you can make it back to camp?" She asked, not at all mocking.

((funny?))
"I can support myself," growled Styx. He stood up, putting most of his weight on his left leg. This hurts just as bad as it looks. He started limping off, stopping every once in awhile to examine his leg. It looked as if it bled more everytime he took a step. "Well.. I guess this is going to take a while to heal..."
