After what Fireflight had told him, it was time to leave the meeting before being drowned by the ashes. Finally the pack made it to the main camp. "Well, Toss told me to tell you guys that Toss and Firelight will be here as soon as possible, that is basically it, so lets try to get those ashes off of us huh?" He said to the pack. That was basically everything covered. Everyone is almost home, well here anyways. [/blockquote]

Carolina stepped out of the nursery, alarmed. "What happened? What's going on?" She woofed, shocked, concerned, afraid. The gray warrior searched the group for Sothis, her mate. "Where are Toss and Fireflight? Or what about Aliya?" she asked, impatience growing along with her exponential panic attack.

Kunai turned toward Carolina who is in her panic mode. "Fire at the meeting, falling ashes, Fireflight told me to get everyone over here and that Toss and she will be back. I really don't know where is Aliya at all sorry," He replied quickly. Things cant be all answered here and now.

Silas, snowy pelt coated in the ashes, slipped through the entrance to the camp and into the Herb Healer's den to get cleaned off in private.
Michio and Fyren gazed carefully at their mother, Svel, who was not giving off the pleasantest of emotions right now. Svel was tense, pacing, and clearly something was up.
Sothis was not to be seen.

The dark, smoke-stained form was hunched over as it approached, a mangled body heavy on her shoulders. Silence fell thickly, anxiety burning in the stomachs of her pack as she made her way forward, into a tigh visibility. "I'm sorry," Fireflight choked, eyes pained. She took a deep breath and she laid her alphess in the center of the clearing. "Aliya did not make it back."

Toss coughed heavily, Euphrates guiding him toward the clearing.
"Almost there," Euphrates whispered softly. At the entrance to camp, however, he froze in his tracks, mouth going dry as he stared at Aliya's body.
"..eh?" Toss muttered, raising his gaze to stare at Aliya's body. Shoving Euphrates roughly away from him, Toss bounded to his fallen leader's side, and locked his eyes on her lifeless body. He went rigid.

"Toss?" Fireflight murmured, suddenly a bit frightened. No...'a bit' was probably an understatement. As the ash and soot fell thickly around them, and Toss was unmoving, maybe just as shocked, over Aliya's form, she was locked in a freaking GLAD container with her fears. Something, Wind knew what, had engulfed the clearing in fire and dark. Normally, Fireflight would've guessed humans. Sure, it was a hard problem, sometimes impossible to solve, but all that fire? It had seemed so likely for a minute..... And then everything had gone dark, even the burning fires. And those eyes....those voices.....she could recognize a few. A few that should be tightly locked away in Hellfire by now. Toss would have a lot to handle..... But someone needs to speak with Twilight, I think. As soon as possible...

((lmao- the GLAD container strikes again!! XDXD))
Euphrates padded slowly to stand beside the Beta. "...Toss? Are you alright...?" He was in absolute shock upon seeing Aliya's fallen form, but perhaps in a bit more shock when he saw Toss- for once- not acting confused nor like his usual self.
The old wolf remained silent, head bowed and eyes shadowed. After a few minutes, Toss slid to his stomach and rested his head beside Aliya's body, staring into her lifeless eyes.
Jowls twisting with worry, Euphrates glanced helplessly toward Fireflight, unsure what he should do with Toss- or, more importantly, what the pack should do.

Fireflight sighed. Sadness for Aliya, desperation fo her pack, fear for what this all meant for their future, and more than that, an odd sense of instinctiveness washing over her. "Toss....someone needs to speak with Twilight as soon as possible," she told him. "Tomorrow...if the fires are down...maybe Aliya and the others will speak to Kiki or Silas." She bent down to lie beside her fallen alphess.

Eyes still shadowed, Toss barely managed a slight nod before continuing his solemn silence.
Euphrates took a deep breath. It was just like when Toss had to battle with his own maddened son- the seriousness of reality had caught up with the old timer once more. And it was unnerving to Euphrates himself as well... to see such a normally optomistic and carefree wolf made woeful by one tragedy. ...but he'll pick himself up... Toss always does. We need to worry about the pack right now... He glanced at Fireflight again. Who will lead us?

"Toss," Fireflight's tone was low, pleading. "We cannot just wait here. There are things out there that are ready and more than willing to charge right after us. We have no idea what we're dealing with..." Fireflight closed her eyes, and whispered, "Toss, you're our leader. Now please, lead us before it's too late to do anything at all."

It was only now that the young, snow pelted wolf decided to interrupt upon the conversation around him. This young one knew enough to realize that Toss could not lead the Destinians like an alpha should. "No. It is not Toss, but Fireflight, that must become alpha." Silas' voice was its usual emotionless tone, no rythem, did not carry a wise note. It simply was.
Blue, ebony furred creature slunk ever slowly into the clearing. Just in time to hear the words spoken by Silas. Bright young fellow, he was. Eyes of that midnight shade were... it seemed that wolf had just faced a spirit that he did not want to face. Ever. But why? How? Aliya could not be dead yet. Not yet! Large paws carried the muscular, intelligent wolf towards the body. The lifeless, destroyed figure of dearest mother. Exhausted alphess. Life was over for Aliya, and now he saw it for himself. Legs shook, as if ready to collapse beneath brute's body. Neck moved so that head was sent downwards. Nose brushing against mother's own in a goodbye kiss, for he'd never thanked her for being who she was. Nor for being there when he needed her, because every son needs his mother at some point. And the words were so clear it was as if she was there to speak them. Perhaps spirit still lingered upon her figure to deliver this message. Fireflight. One word. The answer. Head brought back up, muzzle was turned towards the wolf. Eyes carried themselves across every wolf they could see. "Aliya says Fireflight." The tone was so dead, yet so agonized and heartbroken. And with that, Sothis lowered figure to the ground, head laying against Aliya's shoulder. Hot, shimmering crystal tears slid through fur.

"Wait.....what?" Fireflight rose from Aliya's form, looking both shocked and a little intimidated. "But Toss is beta! He's older, more experienced.....probably the better wolf for the job." She frowned looking between Silas and Sothis. She wasn't one to question healers, and Sothis had always been a little strange. And what's more, these were Aliya's sons. Two wolves that were closest to her, and they were saying that she herself did not mean for Toss to be leader. How could that be? But if they, those mourning her hardest, said it was so, was it even in her rights to try and make sense out of it? She looked between Toss, Silas, and Sothis, now struck in silence. Her copper eyes gradually changed to mournful and confuse. She sighed, licking Aliya's ear affectionately. "Aliya, I think you're crazy."

Kiki sat just in her den, only her shimmering eyes could be seen in the shadows of the cavern. The first hint of smoke she received was hours ago, and she had already gathered herbs for breathing, coughing, throat itch, stomach irritation, and many other conditions. Her eyes were mournful, too sad to be part of this wolf who usually seemed so defiant, and rebellious. Her eyes were fixed on the dead alphess's form, pleading the heavens that she will have a safe journey on the way to Twilight. Her eyes turned to Silas, eyes solemn, he would be so sad, so mounrful of his mother's passing. She loved him, though she knew he did not feel the same way towards her, he could tell by the emotionless voice he used towards her, and everyone else. He was her love, though she was not his, he was her packmate, and he was her... neophyte? Yes, he was her neophyte though he was about the same age as her, if not older, but he had been training as a warrior, and she had been training as a healer.

Fireflight looked to Kiki and Toss for confirmation. She would not step up to this seemingly far-fetched assumption that she should lead unless Toss himself said so. He was beta, so why should she lead now? She was only proxy. I mean....he even spoke at the gathering tonight. He might've stumbled over his words a bit....but with a little practice he could probably be a good leader! In any case, I wouldn't make a better one! Her pelt felt hot under the stares of her packmates.
