Someone somewhere was asking what happened. And that she-devil, that bitch, that demon was feeding the asker nothing but lies. Someone somewhere was inhaling wraiths of acidic prowess into their being, becoming the beast, satan, the bull. Someone somewhere was spinning on their last thread, tears running down their face that could not be stopped. A burning would echo in her throat, thud heavy in her heart, echo off of empty walls of her mind. And somewhere, somewhere far from her, someone else wouldn't know she was crying, but at the same time, they would be trying to stop it. Even if they didn't know. Even if I hadn't known.... He didn't know a lot of things about her. And how was it for him? Her tall dark and handsome companion? He didn't know how often her thoughts would drift to him. Maybe he figured in death that love would fade, that nothing lasts forever. Or maybe he just didn't know how she felt. Maybe not forever in the sense that it is tangible. But the feeling, the bond will always remain. She remembered those days, those drunken fights with Lupus in the sense that they both had been so heavily intoxicated with something, each other's prescence, collision, whatever, that they spoke nothing but nonsense. She remembered wondering at him, his dark shoulder, the way he seemed to hidden in himself. She'd wanted to know because she'd cared to know. So, in that sense, it was the yearn for knowledge. He had been so far away, in his life of legacies. And she would've done so much to make his hurting stop. But I failed.... The scar was still there, but she didn't look at it if she could bear it. A faint, scarcely noticable line. Maybe Lupus wouldn't remember, or notice anymore. But Rhain did ; she could feel it. Physically. But mentally.... If it makes you feel better, go ahead. I just hate to see you like that.
Somewhere, somebody was rubbing off mascara as tears dried on in a hope that, as that other person far away joined them figuratively, shooting down the stars would be enough to make something more.

Deep, rosy twilight bloomed in the sky, bleaching the trees a rich, golden-scarlet. Even the shadow that was now striding smoothely through the woods was now ablaze with color. And when it finally came to a halt on the large plateau on the lakeshore, the black was ringed with plumes of yellow. "I am lost, my father... please, I must speak with you." The wind curled around his chin like fingers lacing through his fur, only to pull away and slip off into the sky. No response. "Please, I beg of you." When not even the comfort of the breeze arrived to reply, Lupus bowed his head and stared at the ground... And he had felt so very lost, he remembered. Lupus lifted his head, dragging his mind out of the depths of his memories. For a second, he had believed that he had returned to that day on the lakeshore... but he soon realized that it was nothing more than a fragment of his past, and brought himself to his paws. "And you never answered me..." His whisper of breath was cold, and soon the chill of his words was answered with a breath of wind on his face. But there were no fingers here. Just wind. Only the wind. But with the wind came a sound. A strange sound that aroused Lupus' attention. Without much thought, the wolf blinked away the last of the nostalgia and padded off toward the source of the noise... and gradually speeding up his pace.

Rhain turned, a shape bounding towards her in an autmn-dappled forest, a familiar one. She stood, a bit surprised. It would be as if somebody's answering my thoughts.....this place never stops surprising me. She smiled widely as he came into closer view, tail wagging slightly in welcome. It's funny, how life still goes on. We can be facing the storm so hard, head on, and think there's no answer. And yet....things like knowing there's a place for you somewhere, in life or in death, if you just keep going. It's funny, how our thoughts are answered in the world around us if we pay enough attention. Maybe not in the way we thought, but through a different source. Makes me wonder.....are we wolf, or are we denser? "You'd best speed it up, love, you're looking kinda old and frail! Must be the centuries catching up with you!" She laughed teasingly, a light gleaming in her eyes of lush green. She turned and strode leisurely a few paces, glancing over her shoulders to see if he was planning on catching up or not.

A playful smirk tugged at his muzzle, and soon the shadow's serious golden eyes were bright with amusement. He began to run, swiftly gaining speed until he had practically raced past Rhain in his haste, skidding to a halt in front of her. "'Old and frail'? I could take fifty wolves with a paw behind my back!" After offering up a small chuckle, Lupus found himself staring past Rhain, eyes clouding over. A memory seized his mind... a very strange memory. One involving capes, hoods... and a flying horse. ...I'm a father? He shook his head, re-focusing on Rhain. Must've been a dream.
((XD the interesting barrier of reality is broken by my wedding))

Rhain snorted, shaking her head in disagreement. "Yes, but what if those wolves were from that pack of devoted servants that runs around this place all the time? Ya know, the one the Golden Wolf lent you those first years," she chuckled, though the discomfort was plain in her as she thought of them. Those robotic wolf-clones. 0_o "I don't think you could handle so many compliments at once!" She snickered, nosing his shoulder happily. "Too modest, always were," she grunted. An oak leaf, dappled with autumn's splendour, twirled above Rhain's head and landed softly on her nose. With immense irritation, the goddess of spring snapped at the leaf and swiped her jaws over the abomination. Summer was bad enough....but Fall was her opposite. She would have to begin instructing Sheera soon, she supposed, but for now...who needed more cold? She devoured the leaf and swallowed, blinking back at Lupus with a bewildered expression on her maw. Wait...did I really just eat a leaf?

((lmao-- I cracked up when she ate the leaf )) "Oh god... you're right, I take it back." Lupus grimaced at the thought of his followers, all swarming around him... running off obediantly at his every command... "Ugh- sometime I should put it up to Death to lock them up in Tartarus or something," he muttered, rolling his eyes. "But the last time I saw them was when I sent them to find GoldenWolf-- not that they can, anyway."For the briefest of moments, a bit of hidden pain passed through Lupus' eyes at the mention of GoldenWolf... but it was gone in a flash and he resumed his amused expression. Then, quite abruptly, Rhain snapped at-- and ate a leaf. Lupus tilted his head to one side, raising a brow. "...granted, that's not the strangest thing that I've seen you do... but still, this one's pretty far up the 'weird' ladder."He chuckled good-naturedly, breaking into a smile. Not that I should be talking, really... especially since I turned into a plant before...

"Eh," she bent down to poke her stomach with a moist nose. "I'm getting kinda thin -- Sheera's going a little outta control. I suppose I should help her with that. Well, back to the original point -- carbs are hard to come by! You've gotta snatch every one that runs past!" She snickered softly at her own attempt to cover up the act against autumn. "You should try it! Really, they don't taste that bad....all green and leafy.....and leafy and green....and...yeah, I think that's really all they're good for...." she trailed off, deciding to cut off the leafy-greeness before it went to her head. "Well, at least it's a planty thing that doesn't make you drowsy, bipolar, or high! I bet that's a first!" She rolled her eyes. "So, watchya up to?"

Lupus couldn't hide the smirk that spread across his maw. "...ya know what? I think I'll stick with meat." He glanced up, inhaling the air deeply. "...I guess I've just been.... dreaming." Seconds slipped past, and suddenly Lupus' friendly smile transformed into a disgusted snarl. He glanced over his shoulder, wrinkling his nose in utter fury at the scent he detected on the breeze. Can't I have one single moment of peace...?
"LUPUS!" a sing-song voice chimed. Lupus winced, seeing the figure that he dreaded slink out of the brush. The white witch that had long haunted his dreams, Verlust.
"What the hell could you possibly want from me?" Lupus hissed, voice deeper and more threatening then usual.
Verlust curled her lips, scarlet eyes flashing a bit as she slunk over... but, unlike usual, kept a distance between them. "I am here for good reason, Lupus."
"Really, now? That'd be a first," Lupus grunted disapprovingly, narrowing his eyes. "And what reason would that be?"
She smirked. "One of your pets ran into me, looking for you-- said he'd done what you've asked. He asked me to pass on the word while he finished the job... and here I stand."
Lupus widened his eyes, gawking at the fae before him. "...that... that can't be possible..." He slunk to the ground, ears going back as he stared at his paws. "...there must be some mistake..."
Verlust glanced questionably at Rhain. "Hmm... well, seeing as your husband is a little off at the moment... do you know what the hell he asked his little minions to do for him?"

Rhain had been there when Lupus had ordered them away to find the Golden Wolf, and seeing Lupus was indeed a bit off, it didn't take her long to put two and two together. Rhain smiled a small, sly smile and nodded. "I know indeed what they were asked to do. Thank you for passing on the message," she turned her eyes from Lupus to Verlust, enhancing the smile and flicking her tail slightly. "But isn't it so funny, that wolves that close to Lupus, would trust the likes of you? That's something to mull over," she shrugged, pointedly turning away from Verlust. Lupus I swear, if you give her even the slightest idea of what you told them to do....or even that there is something worth knowing! Apparently this search is more fruitful than we'd originally expected... In any case, I think it's clear we won't be coming back here for a while. We have a clone-pack to track...

Verlust smiled to herself. Asking me to tell Lupus, overhearing them talk about telling Lupus... meh, same thing. "...care to, how you say... specify?"[/i]
Lupus blinked slowly, then abruptly jumped to a stand. "Excuse me," he uttered, his tone carrying that of a desperate and breathless being. He hurriedly began padding in one direction, ears and tail erect. Oh god...
Verlust looked curiously after Lupus, not moving. "...hmm... interesting."

Rhain wrinkled her nose, internally beaming that she hadn't really posed anything worth 'specifying' over in her previous speech. She'd made Verlust basically come out and ask the question she would be dying to know: what was it the wolves had been asked to do? "Specify?" She asked, a bit of honest perplexion entering her voice. An odd approach for Verlust to take.... "Specify over what, exactly?" Just play dumb, Rhain. Don't buy into anything she says and or does... Crap. I forgot to memorize a certain part of that 'How to Defeat Verlust' manual that Sivvy and Death put together....or maybe they just forgot to talk to Flame....ugh. This calls for desperate measures.... I totally don't know what's she's talking about. Rhain doesn't know what Verlust is talking about! Specify over what? THERE IS NOTHING TO SPECIFY I TELL YOU! "Is there something wrong, Lupus?" she woofed, voice cracking accidentally halfway through the sentece. Hysteria. Hysteria is creeping in, Rainy Day, you're losing your flair! I KNOW NOTHING I TELL YOU! NOTHINGGG!!! Page five of the manual did not deal with this -- it was supposed to deal with this.... Not trying hard enough. IIII KNOWWW NOTHINGGGGGGG.
Rhain curiously seemed to be turning an odd blush of red-violet....her veins also seemed a bit strained.

Lupus ran out to the lake, standing on its shores and staring intensely at the sky above. Then, after inhaling deeply, he released a booming howl, fury pouring into the commanding sound. "TONY, GET DOWN HERE!" Then all was silent. Minutes passed. He glanced from one side, then the other, and then returned his gaze to the sky. Another minute. Then a sound erupted from the ferns behind him.
"Leader!" A swarm of identical black wolves swarmed around Lupus, with one slightly taller and leaner wolf in the frontline as they surrounded the NightMist Alpha. "We found Him!"
Lupus winced before reaching out, morphing simutaneously to grab the taller wolf (Antonio) by his throat, lycan hands squeezing tightly and firmly around his neck. "Where?"
"We, uh... he's not there anymore."
Lupus slackened his grip, relaxing slightly. Good...
"...b-but, uh, don't worry! We told him where you are."
Lupus' eyes flew open, emotions blurring and making his expression unreadable. "You WHAT!?!?"
Verlust tilted her head at Rhain. She's even more screwed up than I thought- can't even answer a simple question. Then, out of the blue, a howl followed by a series of shouting caught her attention. Looking toward Rhain again, she murmured slyly, "Well... not to be rude, but I see that over there is where the action is..." She slid toward the direction of the lake, her malicious smile still clearly printed on her face.
At the same time, the wind slowly began to pick up... and it was not the work of the Seasonal Godesses.

"Verlust, you're on crack. I knew it. THAT'S why they don't know how to outmaneuver you!" Rhain snickered. She shook her head, padding between Verlust and Lupus. Wait....omigawd....that's it! But....hm... "Wait....." Rhain stopped dead in fton of Verlust, mouth agape, eyes bulging slightly as she glared with unconcealed disgust. "....." Moments ticked by, and Rhain's jaw only moved a fraction of an inch back to its normal state. But something changed --- there seemed to be a mass gurgling from somewhere. SPLAT! Forget the gurgling. It was gone with the saliva that was most likely plastered on Verlust's face. "YOU.....you.....you're....." STATE HER CRIME RHAIN, YOU CAN DO IT!!! "YOU'RE SOCKLESS?!?"

((*can't stop laughing* XDXD))
"YOU- YOU--" Lupus released Antonio, forcing himself to transform back to a regular wolf and shrink into the crowd. He was desperate to not be noticed... yet he knew the efforts were futile. How could he hope to fool the GoldenWolf? And then he felt it. The skeletal hands of wind poking their bony fingers through his fur and dragging him from the safety of his former pack. Dragging him out in the open, to a spot where he could not hide. Lupus stared up, noticing a faint light traveling through the skies, like a flare of sunlight that moved with the breeze. Oh no...
Verlust blinked, tilting her head to one side before turning her head away in a plain and obvious action of indifference. I will neither confirm nor deny that statement... "Well, Rhain... that's just how I roll." She began to slip past Rhain, only to pause at her side and whisper, "By the way... I also have manshoes." She supressed a snicker as she slipped past the other fae.

Storm clouds. Or at least it seemed like that to Rhian. The world was ending. So what if there were really shafts of golden sunlight hanging over Lupus? So what if they thought they'd actually found the Golden Wolf? The only thing that even brushed her mind about the topic now was a conversation she'd had with Death a while back. Death, itnerestingly enough, felt like he needed to apologize to the Golden Wolf. He'd said something about how it wasn't his fault because it's not like we could reach him or he could reach us, anyway. He was still in Golden Mist somwhere, no? They had no connections to such a place, and hadn't he sworn not to leave it, out of being so digusted with himself after the first war of the packs? Something like that. But it doesn't matter because this night is the apocalypse. Unless.... Give me socks, or give me--- "GRARRRR!!!!" Rhain leaped at Verlust, somersaulting down the slopes of the blustery meadows with a fire burning in her veins. "YOU FREAK OF NATURE! YOU GHASTLY GHOUL! YOU'RE A MURDERER OF LOVE YOU FIEND!!!"
