`When Zabe Goes Hunting...``OPEN`

Hungry from a few days ago of trying to scavenge on the mountain, Zabe had decided he would try his paw at hunting. Since he rarely hunted, he knew only the basics. Crouch, stalk, attack. So when a small fawn strayed through the forest, Zabe was quick to go for it. He crouched down and crept slowly to it. The fawn had sat down and started making cries for its mother, but nothing answered it. So when Zabe was only a few feet away and hiding in a pair a bushes, he leaped and howled in excitement. The fawn ran off, but Zabe being lazy as he was just sat down and watch it run. "Darn."

[Njack]

"Darn what?" Kirana plunked herself down by the other wolf without even asking.

Her eyes followed the fleeing fawn. "You know, if you really want to catch it, you gotta run for your food. No use being lazy."

Curling up a little bit, she licked the red streak on her right hind leg.

Zabe yawned. "I was born lazy and I'll stay lazy until the day I die. If I'm lucky, another wolf could kill it and then I could steal from them." He smirked revealing worn out teeth that was rarely used to kill prey. "Since you decided to come and talk to me, why don't you help me out and go after that fawn? I'll split it between you and me."

[Njack]

"Sure. That is, if I didn't have a brain. As it is, it happens I've gotten enough to eat today, and it appears you haven't." Kirana watched the other wolf out of the corner of her eye.

"So, if you're not going to go after that fawn, I guess you'll just have to keep scavenging or whatever you do to get food." She licked her front right paw this time.

Zabe tried not to snarl. "Whatever. I'll just wait and ambush the fawn when it comes back. And since you've already eaten, leave me alone. You're going to ruin my concentration." He ran behind one of the bushes and looked out. "Now leave. The fawn won't come back if you're around."

[Njack]

Kirana followed the other wolf, then made herself comfortable on the ground next to him. "How do you know it'll come back? As far as you know, maybe it's found its mother already."

"I don't see how me being here has anything to do with the fawn not coming back, either. We're both wolves, and if your logic is in fact correct, then we should just both leave so the fawn comes back." She closed an eye then opened it again. "Of course, that wouldn't accomplish anything."

Zabe growled. "Why did you even come and bother me anyway?" He walked out of the bushes and looked around. "I'm going to go find something better to eat, anyways. Forget that puny fawn." He sniffed the ground and caught the scent of a rabbit. "You stay there or else you'll scare the rabbit." He stalked into the undergrowth with his tail flicking behind him.

[Njack]

"Maybe because I like to bother wolves. And at least you finally make sense for once." She rolled her eyes, watching the other wolf stalk the rabbit.

Kirana crept a little closer to watch the "action" better. Her paws made no sound on the burnt ground. I didn't survive for all those moons without any hunting skills!

Zabe pricked his ears and turned around. "I told you to stay put! You're going to scare the rabbit away!" When he turned around the rabbit was already bouncing away. "Look what you did! You ruined everything!" He sat down and sighed.

[Njack]

In a flash, Kirana was up on her paws. She ran and sprang at the rabbit, managing to land right in front of the rabbit.

The rabbit, seeing its escape route cut off, turned around and started to bound the other direction.

Too late.

Kirana pounced on it, and broke its neck with a snap. She padded back to the other wolf, flinging the rabbit to the ground.

"You know, if you hadn't talked, the rabbit wouldn't have ran away." She rolled her eyes. "But can't let you starve."

Zabe felt some weird emotion rise up and just smiled. "Yes... thanks. Whatever. I still blame this on you. You distracted me." He walked over to the dead rabbit and sniffed it. "So it's mine?"

[Njack]

"Whatever you say, whatever you say." Kirana rolled her eyes yet again, then eyed him oddly as he asked a question. "Didn't I say it was yours? I never go back on my word. Usually."

She nudged the rabbit toward the other wolf with a paw. "And I don't believe we've been introduced... I'm Kirana. Your turn."

"Zabe." He grabbed the rabbit and walked underneath a tree before eating it. This is so good! I haven't eaten since...ever! He glanced at Kirana. I would still be hungry if it wasn't for her... He sat up and grinned. "Friends?"

[Njack]

This wolf is weird! I mean, first he's trying to chase me off, and now he's asking me to be his friend? Well, they say that it's always better to have friends than enemies...

"Sure," Kirana responded. "I g-" She stopped the sentence she was about to begin.

"Do you see what I see in the distance?" A dark funnel was descending to the ground among the smoke and ash of the fires. "What IS that?"

"It's a black cloud touching the earth and carries trees and dirt as it moves along the ground... It's a tornado!" Zabe jumped up and looked around. "We got to hide before that thing comes over and carries us off the ground." He didn't know anything about tornadoes, but he knew hiding behind a tree wouldn't help. "A cave. We need to find a cave and hide in there."
