Here is a collaboration of the different ceremonies used in pack life. ALSO, I have included info on some pack traditions, such as howling, play-fights, same-pack fighting, etc. No need to memorize them -- this is mainly for the alphas to use as a reference =]
::ALPHA CEREMONY::
Twelve wolves from the new alpha's past appear before them at the Eternal Tree, an ancient tree in the Twilight Clearing (the actual ceremony is in the root cave underneath the tree). They each grant a gift to the leader. Then all twelve wolves say at once:
"These traits are given to you and enhanced to their fullest. Use them well, and may your life be long and complete."
Whenever an alpha receives a blow that would usually knock them dead, they simply lose a gift instead. When they loose all twelve of their gifts, they usually die. Sometimes alphas become seniors, but the pain of losing the gifts usually makes it hard for them to live afterwards.
::NEOPHYTE CEREMONY::
The wolf you see before you is no longer a pup. He/She is ready to be trained as a neophyte, and lears the ways of the packs. (insert teacher name), you will be the teacher of (insert neophyte name). I know you will teach him/her to the best of your abilities.
::LUPUS PROELIATOR (WOLVEN WARRIOR) CEREMONY::
(insert name of soon-to-be warrior here), you have trained long and hard, and have proved yourself many times over. (insert same name as before here), you are now a full lupus proeliator, wolven warrior, of (pack).
::BETA AND PROXY CEREMONIES::
Our pack is now in need of a beta/proxy. (insert name of beta or proxy), you have shown yourself a wolf of (trait) and (trait). You will be the next beta/proxy of (pack).
::SENIOR CEREMONY::
(insert wolf name), you have been a wolven warrior of (pack color) Mist for countless days. I now grant you just as many days of rest. (insert wolf name), you are now a senior wolf of (pack).
Howling:
Done to express emotion or call other wolves. Wolves tend to form small howling groups within their packs. They gather often to spend time with one another and get to know each other better.
Play-fighting:
Play-fighting is for wolves of all ages! It is a way to get to know and have fun with one another.
Same-Pack Fighting:
Sometimes, fighting is not so friendly. This usually happens within a pack when a wolf challenges another wolf for a possesion or mate.
Challenging a leader:
No leader can ignore and outright challenge. The challening wolf must have seven wolves siding with him. The leader also chooses seven wolves. A fight then begins to see who will take the post of alpha. Only a beta, or a wolf with the beta's alliance, can challenge a leader. No wolf may touch the opposing leader untill the seven opposing warriors have retreated, or in some cases died. The challenging leader and the challenged leader may fight each other anytime during the challenge, however. An alpha does not need the alliance of a beta to challenge another wolf. For example, if an alpha wanted to challenge a god(dess) for their power, she/he would NOT need to ally themselves with the opposing beta.
*This almost NEVER happens. Even if one wolf wants to, chances are they would not be able to find seven wolves to risk their honor to gaurd them.
If I missed anything, PM me or post!
