Sanceul smirked, unsure whether to feel disappointed or relieved at Damien’s decision to forfeit the game. “Aww… and we were having so much fun!” she protested, sarcasm returning to her voice. “…ah, well, it also means that I win, though, so all is right in the world!”
With a quiet snicker, Sanceul instinctively withdrew her limbs to press tight against her body (for extra warmth) and pulled her tail over her nose—a trick that she picked up during her long life in solitude. Taking into account her small and lithe body, it was a challenge to keep herself warm for most of the seasons, including chilly nights like these. Just another one of those things we do to keep our clocks ticking, eh?
“G’night then, o’ mighty King of Fish,” she yawned, a twinkle in her eye as she spoke. “By the way… you’re not that bad of a kisser.” Without further hesitation, she snapped her eyes shut, burrowed her muzzle deeper into the fur of her tail, and began to drift into sleep.
