The serenity of the waves, the calm of the wind, and the freshness of the springtime air. On this side of the lake, opposite of the brawl that had erupted in the Twilight Clearing, all was tranquil. That is, until a paw shimmered into existence, scrambling for a hold on the earth without eyes to guide it. From the paw faded a leg, which sprouted shoulders and branched into further limbs. At last, a skull emerged, the creature’s lower jaw slackened in a silent cry. Gradually, the monochrome figure melted into scarlet splendor, although semi transparency was an obvious factor. After all, Flame was more or less returning from the dead. There were bound to be a few drawbacks. Swiping out at the air until her entire body hade taken a more solid form, the she-wolf glanced to her right, and then to her left. “Death?” she woofed, a hint of concern in her voice. “Umm… bro?” Huh? The spell sent us the same spot… right? Erm... hey, wait a minute. We just returned from the dead... Does this make us zombies?

Figures. Below the crisp, frigid waters of springtime, a faint outline faded into view -- a slightly discolored area appeared in the water, almost as if the lake was bruised. A dark boulder loomed over Death's new, pallid form, looming over him like a questioning keeper of the wild. The boulder pinned Death to the spot, his tail wedged well beneath the rockface. Grumbling irritable, he gave his tail a good tug--
"COME TO ME, SWEET OXYGEN!!!" He richocheted off the bottom of the lake and spiralled up towards the surface like a rocket, beaming merrily, an eerie sort of cheshire smile, only partially visible. "For a sec, I was hoping we'd get the pleasure of returning home, ya know, a last peek at the old terras everyone ran from.....kinda sucks, but this is so darn cool!!" To emphasize his point, he did a little backflip in the water, spewing the excess water from his mouth like a jet stream.

All traces of anxiety vanished at the familiar tune of her brother’s voice. The melody of his words, the calmness of the air; suddenly, everything was alright. The entire world was at peace. Well, except for the fact that all the wolves of Hellfire had escaped into the living realm, but hey—nothing was perfect! Grinning widely when she saw Death swimming about, Flame raced forward and leapt into the shallows, kicking out to deeper waters and savoring the feel of true water tugging at her fur. Lifting a forepaw and bringing it down in a splash, Flame attempted to send a few waves of water at her brother. “Haha, of course this is cool! I mean, wow! It worked! We’re here! Oh, and with that logic of yours—you know, returning to the old terras… you do realize that we’d have to cross the mountains if that had happened, don’t you?” She was smirking as she spoke. “Although, that’d probably have made our entrance a ton more epic… ah, well. We just returned from the dead, didn’t we? Hey, Death… does that make us zombies?” Flame added a laugh at her last statement, knowing that they were more similar to specters than zombies. But the idea of the siblings walking around, hungering for the brains of the living… Woah. Weird image.

Death shivered, and tilted his head, mesmerized by the ripple that passed through his body as he did so. I wonder what laughter looks like on us? Huh, it's kinda fun.....eh, zombie-whatta?! "Do I look slimey green or blue to you? How about groaning? Am I making any odd gutteral groans? Oh, and am I mauled-looking? Nope, check. I'd say that's a negative, ghost rider. We are nottttt zombies!" He grinned at her, feeling an odd sort of bubbling high, euphoria from their success. He delayed the question he knew would soon be asked: now what. Instead, he enjoyed the moment, pondering the world around them. Geeze, we get crappy reception upstairs. It looks like a huge white fog lifted with this view....blame it on the clouds. "I wonder what we look like to everyone else? I imagine hiding will be pretty easy from the packwolves....the Hellfirians I'm kinda worried about, though. We'll have to be careful....but we knew this would be dangrous."
((We're going on an adventure, Charlieeee! It'll be an adventureee, we're going on an adventure!! Come with us to candy mountain, Charlie!! xD ))

Almost as soon as Death's reply had left his lips, Flame opened her mouth and uttered a series of low moans. "Brrraaaaaiiinnnssss..." However, she was unable to maintain the groaning for long, and was reduced to a fit of giggles. Which probably isn't very smart, considering that they were treading water in the middle of a lake. "Hmm..." Flame began after her snickers had died down. "Maybe we look like ghosts? If we're lucky, maybe they won't recognize us." As if THAT'S ever going to happen. We're the stuff of legends, for Lupus' sake! And aside from that, we're transparent... right? "...weird... what are our limitations, now? Are we like a Hellfirian now, or can we walk through walls?" She was only half-joking at her last statement. Heck, I don't know what the heck we did! It wouldn't surprise me...

Death snickered at her zombie-esque imitations, but was clearly not convinced. He gave her a sarcastic eyeroll, they scanned the territories fondly, beaming as he surveyed the tall trees and rolling pack lands. "This is fantastic! And heck, I guess we'll just have to take things as they come. We'll have to be creative and get around roadblocks whevever they pop up. But hey, we're never going to get anywhere if we stay in this lake, so why don't we find a place to bunk and sneak a bit of rest? Probably don't have to sleep as often as the living, but it'll still probably do us some good. We can plan after, how about it?" He looked towards Flame, still highly amused. Excitement and anticipation seared through his bloodstream, but he also felt more collected now that they had the beginnings of a plan. I think we'll feel even better once we know exactly where we're going to start looking. This'll probably get easier with time...

“Heh, we should start taking field trips to this place more often!” Flame agreed, laughing as her heart fluttered with enthusiasm. For a moment there, nothing could possibly go wrong. Foolish thinking, of course—the woods were crawling with Hellfirians—but the need to cling to such hopes outweighed the cons. Let’s enjoy it while we can! “Hey, sounds good to me… after the close call with Dad and Rhain, a quick rest is just what the doctor ordered.” She kicked out toward shore, tossing a glance over her shoulder as she did so. “Any thoughts on what we’ll do if someone sees us and starts screaming bloody murder?” Despite the question, Flame wasn’t very worried about it. Even if they did manage to stumble upon other wolves, she was confident that they could either evade the threat, or scare the enemy into running themselves straight into a psycho ward. Well, if there WAS a psycho ward, that is… with all the crazies out there, there SHOULD be one.

Death slunk out of the water, shaking the droplents from his translucent pelt. He looked back over at his sister, blinking at her skeptically, with a hint of sadness tinging his eyes. "We're the stuff of legends, sure....but old wolves are dying. There are few who would recognize us who aren't are enemies. The rest of them......." he hesistated, then added, "this generation doesn't have much respect for mythology so much as their own greatness." He shivered a bit, though the breeze was warm, and the temperature seemed dull, almost a constant lukewarm, to Death. I guess some of our senses aren't as heightened as they should be, but we have other senses to make up for them. We don't really need them as much, anyway. Feeling is still there...just not so much, it seems. "You ready?"

Flame’s smile faded a little at Death’s response. While they couldn’t use this as an excuse to not be vigilant (Hellfirians would still recognize them), Death’s logic was no less than fact. He’s right. A regular packwolf wouldn’t know who we are… and unless they notice that were transparent or something, they probably won’t get suspicious. “Well, I guess we’ll try to use modern day ignorance to our advantage, then?” she yawned, her smile beginning to return. Danger or not, they were free of the dullness of heaven, and adventures always put Flame in a good mood. Following her sibling’s lead and climbing out of the lake, she added, “Of course! I’m always ready, bro.”

Death brightened a bit when Flame climbed up onto the banks next to him. All of the thoughts on life and death were flying around the inside of his head, creating a dull ache. His sister's cheery persistence cast the dull away for the most part, and he found that the spring had returned to his step when he set off for the copse of trees neighboring the lake. He sniffed an empty root cave in a tall pine, eyeing it suspiciously for signs of any other residents. It smelled faintly of fox, but the taste was stale, and with their scents lingering about....if they even had scents to other animals, now, that is....the fox wouldn't come by again. The prescence of one wolf might not deter a stubborn fox, but two surely would. "What about here?" Death parted his jaws and yawned widely for a long moment. Waves of exhaustion seem to wash over him like a haze now, as if their little ritual had taken more out of him than he'd realized before. "I feel like I'm dead on me feet!" He grinned as he said it. Dang, Death, you're so punny!

“Anything warm and enemy-free sounds good to me,” Flame replied, shooting Death a grin before diving into the abyss. It was fairly dark, but she was confident that, after a few minutes of eye adjusting, everything would fall into place. Heading towards the rear of the den to allow space for Death, she offered a yawn, only to roll her eyes at Death’s joke. It was a bad pun, but Flame couldn’t resist a small snicker in response. “Wow, Death… this is weird,” she murmured after the laughing died in her throat. “I woke up this morning thinking the day was going to be like every other day… and now we’re in the living realm, soaking wet, and about to sleep in a fox’s den!” She sighed contentedly. “I love our life!” ’Life’ she mused, smiling a little. Yet another bad pun.

(( Should we bring in the furious Twilight wolves ?? )) Death laughed softly at his sister's comment, noting mentally that if anyone had reason to doubt their relations, their speech and habits would probably change their minds in a few moments. I haven't spent time with Flame in a while...it's kinda cool and weird how similar we are....."He and his enemy are the same..."Huh. Well, we're not enemies anymore, but sure have a lot of random things in common....that's funkified right there. He didn't bother making himself a nest, though the floor of the den was far from comfortable. Sleep was almost rushing him, it would see. I'm coming, I'm coming! Geeze, at this rate, I'll be snoring on my paws...He took the space next to Flame, closer to the entrance, and settled in cheerily. His pelt brushed hers ever so slightly, which was comforting -- though excitement was still fresh and plentiful, he knew that fear would set in soon, too. Or maybe I'll just go into denial and not let it... Like that'll work. Look what happened last time I was in denial -- I died. Ugh, I'll figure it out later...I feel....sleeeeeepy...

((of course! Let’s send in the cavalry! Oh, and I may be sick… but Death still makes me laugh =) ))
Parting her jaws in a large yawn, Flame relaxed her muscles and gave way to the sweet temptation of slumber. They were in a new place, in a dangerous world, but the familiar scent of her brother was enough to lull her into comfort. Ahh, I don’t think I’ve ever fallen asleep so fast… zzzZZZzzz… Flame was now officially in la-la land.
Somewhere, in a completely different realm, Lupus was pacing. “They asleep yet?” he grunted, addressing his mate. They better have a damn good explanation for all of this!!

(( Lol -- zZzZzZzZz xD ))
Death faded into oblivion fast, the hard dirt floor suddenly feeling downy, soft....almost familiar. Kind of like a--- "CLOUDS! AGH! WHAT'S HAPPENEING!" Death sprang to his paws, finding himself in the midst of a cloud-filled wonderland that sparkled with springtime and sugary goodness. He stuck out his tongue in distaste, then realized he could no longer feel anything at all -- not even the dull awareness that he'd discovered in the Twilight Lake. He narrowed his eyes, surveying his surroundings warily, taking note of the peak he and Flame had departed from in the distance. He retraced their journey in his head, then heaved a sigh of relief. "Good, good, it's only a dream...."
Rhain rose to her paws, nodding to Lupus and swishing her tail with anticipation as she padded out of the den, "They're here."

((“sugary goodness”? Oh god… way too familiar XD))
Similarly to Death, Flame was transported to a land of fluffy clouds and lots of sunshine. Unlike Death, she didn’t altogether hate it. Rather, she found the dream completely and utterly dull. I get enough of the good life on regular days… at least give me some excitement or something! All of a sudden, the image of her former stalker, Marl, emerged from the haze of unreality. “Woah, woah, woah!” she yelped, swiping at the vision. “I take it back, okay!?” When Marl’s face disappeared, Flame sighed and sat down, suddenly finding the atmosphere content enough. Her mind was blurred, numbing her emotions and thoughts. Not a worry crossed her mind… which only indicated her complete cluelessness as to Rhain and Lupus’ intentions.
“Finally, we get some answers,” Lupus muttered, rising to his paws and following his wife. “So… are we going to have to do this one at a time, or do we shove ‘em together?”
