Rhain shrugged hre shoulders, turning and padding out of the den. "I guess we'll take them together, they're both already here. Besides, I doubt they'll say much if we seperate them. You ready?" She eyed the two through narrowed eyes, a slitted glare shooting hot anger and confusion blazing into their pelts.
Death shifted, feeling eyes boring into his pelt. He reluctantly dragged his vision to the cave before him, little shock at seeing Rhain bristling in front of him. It makes sense now -- the sleepiness. They dragged us here to get the answers they wanted.....either that or attack or something. He looked to Flame, uncertainty in his eyes. How much should we tell them, how much should we leave out? They'll do everything in their power to get us back....if they really wanted to....I think they could. I just hope this works...

Flame grinned cheerily when she noticed that Death, too, was on the field of clouds. But as she followed his concerned gaze to the cave, she yelped in dismay. “Oh, crap… we should’ve expected this.” I forgot, they can enter our dreams! Well, so much for privacy.
Nodding firmly in response, Lupus bounded through the swirls of unreality, his eyes narrowed in silent accusation. “About time you two got here. You’ve got some explaining to do… so, who would like to speak up first, or do you need more motivation?”
Flame cast a sidelong glance at Death, wondering the same questions that were racing through his mind. “Umm… we come in peace?” she barked shyly.

Death looked up towards Lupus blankly. He understood what the two alluded to, but felt no need to respond. He twitched his tail, waiting for the barrage of questions to start spewing. C'mon, any minute now. You guys are furious as boiling badgers, and I would know. I used to boil badgers in Hellfire when I was bored....didn't work out so good for me, but anway, show me your big guns....
Rhain blinked between the two, eyes settling sketptically on Flame. "Peace? Do you have any idea how much chaos the living realm will be in if the packs find out you're alive? If anyone finds out you're alive again? The Hellfirians will kill you on the spot, the packs will either do the same or send you to take care of the Hellfirians, which will kill you, and if the loners find you, they'll just spread the word to the whole damn valley! Can you even die again? What if something worse happens?! How could you betray us like this!" She paced, highly agitated, glaring at each of them every few seconds.
Death yawned idly. "You done yet, or should I count to ten again?" He retorted cheekily. Rhain looked away from him, trembling with a cross of grief, disbelief, and anger.
"What have you become, Death?"

((Death boils badgers in his free time!? XD))
Flame’s faux innocent smile died in her throat, and she glanced helplessly toward her brother. It comforted her some that Death remained defiantly stubborn when faced with these questions, but it remained the only thing to console her. Luckily for her, she was not overwhelmed with fears of getting caught or getting dragged back to the Twilight Realm. At the moment, she was more irritated than anything else. “Hey, can’t we go on vacation every once in a while? I mean, the Hellfirians are having time off—why can’t we?” she woofed, sarcasm ringing in her voice. “Oh, and if you’re worried about us staying out late and partying without parental supervision, trust us. We’re old enough to take care of ourselves.”
“Damn it, we’re being serious!” Lupus roared, glaring at Flame, and then Death, and back again. “Will someone here please tell us why you’ve returned to the living realm! Are you trying set off even more mass panic than there already is? Are you betraying us? What is it!?”

(( Oh yesss )) Death leaned back leisurely, watching the clouds mill about around them. His expression was bored, but suddenly sparked with mild interest as he looked upon the earth below. "I met a nice loner by the way, Flame -- her name was Shizune. She gave me some info that would be pretty helpful to our uber top secret mission. She's blind so she didn't see me, but my voice probably freaked the hell outta her. I told her my name was Htaed," he told his sister, not even bothering to address Lupus and Rhain. Rhain let out a low snarl, a steady threat. "Please do not tell me you went in search of females, Death?!"

Flame raised a brow at her brother, her irritation toward Rhain and Lupus momentarily replaced by intrigue. “Really? That’s great! But… ‘Hated’?” She rolled her eyes, smiling. We’re so dark! But Rhain’s following statement caught her attention. Wha?? HAHAHAHAHA!! They can’t possibly be serious… would they believe it if that was the case? “…actually, Rhain, yeah. We came back to find Death a girlfriend. He seemed pretty lonely down in Hellfire, after all.”
While he would initially dismiss the notion as absurd, Lupus simply gawked at Flame. With all this craziness, this almost seems like a truthful answer... okay, not really. They’re probably messing with us. “…huh?? Alright, come on. Tell us why you guys really came back! NOW!”

Death shook his head, snickering, "Not, I did not call myself 'hated' -- I said Htaed," he winked. "I pronounced it like hit-eed. Kinda weird....but she asked me my name, so I spelled it backwards beofre I could say something stupid and scare her away....for example telling her my name was Death," he rolled his eyes. "I would so give Redfang crap for that one if I hadn't been the one to assasinate her. Aw, shucks. Ya know, she should've named me something cool and macho like...like Skeletor! Instead I just get stuck with 'Death', well, now, that's just creepy. Not even like, intimidating creepy. Just weirrrrd!" He exmained his curved, black claws absently, ignoring Rhain and Lupus' boiling over expressions. "There's something really...beautiful about living femmes, I gotta say," he laughed darkly. His eyes flashed towards Lupus, growling dangerously, "You two wanna know something? I don't need your permission. I don't need Mommy and Daddy to hold my paw while I walk across the road. I was an alpha once. I'm not a sadistic maniac anymore, but that doesn't mean I go to you for everything. There are legions of dead wolves in this realm, which you are content not to control. Why should I be any different? There was a day where I would do anything you said to please you, Lupus, but I am my own wolf, not just a part of your 'shadow'. I won't walk in it anymore. I chose to confide in Flame, my sister. You've no right to object. Our actions were for the betterment of this world and the one previous. Our status isn't so much different than yours. As holders of Hellfire, we had the authority to act immediately if we saw an opportunity to fix things."

“You spelled your name backwards? Haha, clever!” Flame woofed, playful sarcasm in her voice. “And hey, you’re name isn’t that bad, bro!” But before she could speak further, Death had launched into a rant, aimed primarily at Lupus. She looked on in silence, slightly stunned by the stream of words exiting Death’s maw, but only slightly. Dad and Death don’t get along well, really… not very surprising. After Death had said his piece, she added, “Dad, Rhain… Death is right. We know what we’re doing. Just trust us, and leave us be.”
Lupus looked from Death to Flame, and then returned to stare at Death. The anger was dying from his eyes, replaced just as quickly with a guarded expression—hurt, maybe? “…let’s go, Rhain,” he uttered dully, retreating a few steps. He turned, padding off into the shadows. "Let them do what they want."

Death laughed coldly as he turned to pad away. "Hurt, Lupus? Okay, which one is it this time, Option A) gets so depressed he becomes masochistic, goes into an evil wolf relapse, or gets in a fight with Rhain, Option B) plays the "oh I'm so hurt!" card and ignores me until I grovel for forgiveness, or Option C) Spontaneous combustion! It's getting old, maybe you should try being a comedian, it'd be a hell of a lot more surprising than your usual routine...."
Rhain gaped at Death as he continued, though Lupus may or may not be out of earshot by now. She shook her head, as if she couldn't believe what she was hearing. "Death, enough! He understands! We didn't come here to---"
"...yep. I was right. Same old, same old. This one's probably gonna end up either masochistic or something related, like an 'I hate myself' parade---"
"DEATH! ENOUGH!" Rhain snapped, sinking into a crouch.
"Enough, Rainy Day? I'VE HAD ENOUGH TOO!" Death rose, blood red gaze sweltering with its former anger. "I've had enough of being Son of Lupus! I've had enough being associated with Blood Mist! You want to know why I'll never find anybody, why no dead femme in this realm will ever look at me?! BECAUSE I'M DEATH, SON OF LUPUS, THAT GUY WHO ALMOST TORE APART WOLVEN CIVILIZATION! I'm that guy who some self-abusive wolf of the old ages used as a tool to work his hatred into the world, and then when he was done being hateful, he threw me aside. I was created for one sole purpose: to kill. I am the wolf who made myself different, I am the wolf who discovered things like sense, reason, sanity with no help from either of you! You were there after I died. I never got a god damn shot at life! I'll never get to have kids, to grow old, and neither will Flame! Except for Flame gets to live with decency in her name. She's a hero. And she deserves that. I don't want to be a hero, damnit, I just want to be something more than DEATH. I want LIFE!" He ceased, breathing hard, heartbeat racing in his ears. "So we go to fix the Hellfire leak and you get to watch up here. It's what you do best."

((ouch!))
Lupus froze in his tracks, listening to Death’s every word with a blank expression on his face. Even Flame appeared shocked by Death’s outburst, staring at her brother and stunned with the words that emptied from his maw. Slowly, Lupus tilted his head, turning to face Death. Empty eyes bored into the wolf, the reflection of himself—yet not a reflection. His own person. Death, a completely separate entity than Lupus. Not a shadow. Lupus thought of the words he wanted to say. “Yeah, Death… you’re right. Everything you said is the truth, painful as it is. I made you to wreak havoc on the packs, and although I was confused with pain and mistrust at the time… yes, that was to be your sole purpose. My follower, and my shadow, the same with Flame. Not my children, just my shadows. Yes, I ruined you. Unfair of me to bring you out of thin air, and then unfair of this grand design to take your life away. I’m sorry Death, real sorry… but I doubt you want apologies. You just want me to leave you alone. Fine, I will. I’ll just walk away, and leave you to your own destiny. But after the whole mess with BloodMist, I did not see you as a killer. I saw you as my son, just as I see Flame as my daughter. I came after you out of confusion and concern… I didn’t know what you were going to do. Neither did Rhain. Didn’t mean to upset you, or accuse you. We just wanted to know… I’m trying to be good now. I’m a husband now. I’m trying to become a father to you both, but I don’t know how. Maybe I’m dark. Maybe I hurt myself. But I deal with the pain. So sure, I’ll go back up there. Act no better than Golden Wolf, no better than the ‘father’ that I hate. I’ll watch. Do what you want. I’m sorry, Death. I’m not much of a father, but you know how it is. Not everything’s perfect, and you should know by now that I’m as close to imperfection as they come.” He wanted to say these things. He nearly did, too, but before he could spill a single syllable, Lupus swallowed his confessions and opted for silence. He wouldn’t want to hear it. Not like anything I say is going to change things anyway—I’m the root of the problem! “...Death… just go.” Lupus continued on his path, heading back towards the den he shared with Rhain. Hurt myself? Wait for forgiveness? Fuck that, I’m going to sleep.

(( I know, I kinda winced a bit writing it xD ))
Death shook his head as Lupus padded away, eyes carefully composed and stature still very much the same. Regret poked and prodded at him, but he gave no sign of this. He shrugged, rolling back his shoulders as if the spurt was mere excercise. "He'll get over it eventually," Death snorted, more to himself than Flame or Rhain.
Rhain eyes Death increduously, at a loss for words as she watched him turn to make his depart. She let him go, receeding from his mind and dreams as he immersed himself, once more, in the world of the living. She blinked desperately towards Flame. "Talk to him, please? I know he's being difficult and I know he feels wronged...but Death didn't mean everything he said....he doesn't really want to be estranged from Lupus..." she murmured pleadingly. Her stomach twisted uncomfotably. Am I saying this because I believe it, or because I'm afraid of what'll happen if it's not true?

((Yeah, I mean… jeez, Death, that was pretty harsh! I kinda feel sorry for Lupus, and I usually set out to make him suffer! XD Now I wanna give him a hug! ))
Flame continued to eye Death, the excitement for adventure suddenly drained from her soul. Even though the argument had not included her, Death’s insults left a bitter taste in her mouth and a cold chill on her spine. After observing her brother’s departure from the dream world, she glanced toward Rhain, the gloom of the atmosphere already beginning to drag her back to the realm of the living. Then, Rhain spoke. Flame twitched an ear, blinking silently at Rhain as her form began to fade into their surroundings. “I’ll try,” she whispered softly, a somber expression on her muzzle before she completely disappeared. Her eyes snapped open, then. The warmth and reality of the abandoned fox den suddenly paled, and even the former comfort of her sibling’s body heat had dwindled. Remaining as still as she could, she tucked her nose under her paw, and stared into the space ahead of her, trying to recover from the exchange she had witnessed.
Slinking into the darkness of the den, Lupus receded to the rear of the den and settled there, bringing in his limbs tight against his body. He gazed tiredly toward the entrance, expecting to feel the heat of tears to sting his eyes. But they did not come; at the moment, his body was robotically retiring to a sort of hibernation mode, where emotions were being blocked out in favor of sleep. In actuality, he wanted nothing more than for Death to forgive him—or, at the very least, to speak with Rhain—but the mechanical workings of his body overpowered his desires. Sliding his eyelids halfway closed, he studied the entrance of the den and waited for dreams to seize him.

Death strode alone out into the forest, gazing absently at the darkened scenery around him. His ears twitched as a soft rustling stirred the space in front of him. Can't they tell there's other wolves about? Why reveal themselves so quickly? If they can even see us....even tell other wolves are around.... Death crept through the folaige silently, dropping into a slithering prowl. Death's thoughts flickered, momentarily, to Lupus. They wouldn't get it. They think he needs to apologize....no...I didn't say it to hurt him. I said it...so I could be no wolf's son. So I could start fresh....
Rhain glanced back at the cave, taking a few pawsteps in. She gazed at the sleeping form of Lupus, sighed softly, then moved away once more. Her stomach twisted uncomfortably as her thoughts lingered on Lupus and his son. What was with Death? Hadn't Lupus punished himself enough already?
