Crunch...crunch...crunch...
Snag...
"OW!" The off-white wolf flew his tail over his mouth as he screamed in surprise and pain. Maybe this area to hunt wasn't at all a good choice, because he constantly snagged his fur on branches. It gave a good tug, decent enough to make him shout in pain, but he tried to hold his yowls of suffering in, knowing that Featherswift was right behind him. What would she think, knowing that this pale wolf was being a complaining puppy, screaming at the top of his lungs every time a twig caught him? She would definately not be impressed, and he clenched his teeth together in preperation for the nest branch to snag him. The leaves crunched noisily beneath his feet, and he wondered how this place was most plentiful in prey, when everything made noise. At this point, anyone would believe that all the prey in the hill had run off from all of the noise he made. Slowing his pace so that Featherswift would match his, he waited patiently for the fae to catch up. She must have been far behind his trail, because he hardly heard a single peep from her muzzle, or her feet.
"Hey, Featherswift, I think there's a clear of trees up ahead, maybe we can start there." He whispered through his teeth.

Paw step after paw step she walked after Gade. She noticed how there were a lot of low and fallen branches that could easily snag fur. Keeping well away from any of it, she followed. A hunting trip with Gade would defiantly take her mind off of the battle...at least she hoped. She had finally caught up to Gade when he told about the clear of trees. She looked around the area as scents came to her. There was defiantly prey in there. At least it was smart not to hide in this area, any antlers or tall animals would get stuck except for the low to the ground ones. The idea of a hunt excited her, and once again the pup in her came out through a gleeful smile. "I see it, Gade. Shall we go farther to find any prey close by?," she whispered back.

He wasn't experienced in hunting actually, so eagerly and unashamed he said, "How about you take the lead? I noticed your keen sense of smell right away. You would do better than me." He was half-hearted when he said it, but he didn't think Featherswift would notice. She probably would, but he mainly wanted her to feel better about her self. He saw couples do it with eachother all the time, complementing, and what he learned from it was that the recipient always becomes happy when they are complemented. It was surprising he had to learn this, but not to Gade. This would be new to him in just a few days, he was sure of it, again. Also, he wanted her to take the lead, because the only talent he seemed to have built in him was fighting. Maybe those skills would help him fight whatever they stalked on. A deer or something. Gade backed into the trees, allowing Featherswift to be in front whether she like it or not. He pushed himself behind her, smoothly gliding past her, fur brushing fur. He could have his grace in his step when he tried. Without noticing the small contact he had made, he took his place a few yards behind, trotting in place quietly, sure not to scare any prey, and snagged his fur on a branch again. He winced, but then patiently waited for Featherswift to start walking into the trees. "Whatever you want to do." He whispered curtly, tail dragging in the leaves.

Featherswift looked at Gade as he gave her a compliment and was glad that he did not think she was totally worthless. She didn't like, though, how he said he was not very good at hunting. All wolves had the instinct and just had to perfect it over time. He then slid past her, brushing fur. She noticed it, but kept it to herself. Featherswift decided she liked it and would hold back the retort. Gade was a good friend so far, no enemy about to bite her when she didn't expect it. Now he was behind her making her the leader even if she didn't want to. "Whatever you want to do," he said to her. Sighing, she took a step into the tree line. Her eyes adjusted to the new lighting as she looked around. Sniffing the ground, she smelt bear. Bears had the most disgusting smell ever, fish, berry, dirt, and a little of dead elk mixed together. Featherswift put her ears back in disgust, then turned right. There she found a recent sweet smell of deer. "Would you like to hunt a deer, Gade?," she asked as she looked back at the off-white wolf.

He smiled, wondering if Featherswift had read his mind. "Sure." As he followed her throught the trees, his tail continued to drag, a sign of slight depression. Gade wasn't feeling like he had gotten much out of this wolf. She was quiet, and he continuously made a fool of himself in front of her. When she sighed, it made him upset, afraid he had done something to upset her. Right now he was desperate to converse, but they could do that when they had successfully taken down a deer. But something came to mind, something bothering him. "Featherswift, I need to apologize. Much more than an apology though, much more than that. I'm so sorry..." (sorry I don't have much muse today. / )

(It's okay ) So they would hunt a deer! She was glad that she had found something he liked, and it made her happy. As they walked though, she could hear a dragging of leaves behind Gade. Looking back she saw that he dragged his tail. Is he sad about something? she thought curiously. "Featherswift, I need to apologize. Much more than an apology though, much more than that. I'm so sorry...,"Gade suddenly said. Her paws stopped in place and she turned to look at him fully. Something was defiantly bothering him, she could tell by looking at his stance and posture. Her curious side made her react intantly by wanting to know. She furrowed her brows, questionly. "Sorry about what Gade?," she said. Thinking about what had happened earlier she thought of how she had been more quiet and maybe the sigh had something to do with it? Did Gade think he had done something wrong? If that was the case then he was defiantly thinking the opposite of what she felt. She was glad to go on a hunting trip with him. The whole reason she was a tad quieter would have to be that she still didn't know this wolf all the way. She had to admit to herself that she was a little shy around others of her kind when she didn't know them for while. Gade just made her feel a tiny bit shy, but not as bad as it had been when she had first met him. Featherswift was just scared that she would say the wrong things that would end a friendship that she had come to rely on very much.

"About what happened back in the Dusk Dens a few days back. (the battle had to occur) Ya know, insulting you and Eurasia, where is she anyways? And acting, well, like an idiot. And for going off on you like that, that was horrible. I am so sorry for yelling at you. You have every right to tell Yago. Especially, erm..." he paused to sigh. "Featherswift, I need you to know something. I wasn't born like...you. I wasn't born a normal puppy, at least I think. I really don't know what my past was. It always cahnges. Featherswift, I have a problem. I tend to forget everything like, every week, month, sometimes every few minutes. I really wouldn't mind if you called me a wierdo this second, besides, I'd forget it anyways." He looked away from her, afraid and too angry to make eye contact. His teeth were clamped shut, frustrated and furious at himself, and upset that he told her. Why was everything coming out so fast? Sure, she was pretty, smart, interesting, but why did he tell her that? Oh well. Probably every wolf knew by now. Gade had made so many shows for himself. Patiently but still looking away he waited for her to laugh and say "Get away, you freak!"

(o.0 he's going to yell at Featherswift?! Zomg! You mean the battle to free Missing right? )
Featherswift listened to Gade, fully. He had much to say and it was all coming out very fast. He thought that she was going to tell Yago about what he had said to her. Now that she thought back she was still just a little hurt about that, but had forgiven him. Next he was talking about how he wasn't like other wolves. He had some sort of memory problem? Suddenly everything made since and why he had acted the way he had when she had first met him. If he forgot everything it would hurt, but I would defiantly help him to remember again. He's probably very depressed inside and since he's my friend now I'll help him she thought coming to that realization. She walked towards him and said while smiling,"Weirdo, I'm not going to leave you just because your different. Your my friend and friends stick together." She was glad he had told her his secret. It meant a lot to him, she knew. Suddenly she knew, she would protect him. Gade was turning into more than a friend to her. Of course she wasn't aware of it...yet.

(Oh, no Featherswift! xD When he yelled at her in the camp. About "you don't know how it feels". lol Remember this is after the battle, before the search party... I think that's what I said. ) The name wierdo made him flinch, but then he realized she was only teasing. He like the word friend too. It made him feel, well, a little normal. Featherswift was his first friend, and it was the first time he had been someone's friend. Sheepishly, he grinned at her, looking up, but the smile never reached his eyes. Right now he felt too exposed, as if telling her his secret made him violated. Or was it still a secret? He didn't really know anymore. But now, all he wanted was to eat, because his belly was roaring with hunger, and he wondered if Featherswift could hear it as well. It was slightly embarrassing, but he felt it was better than telling her he was hungry, simply because his voice would crack with embarrassment and apologies.

(oh yeah! when they first met...i think XD bad memory)
Featherswift saw Gade grin at her even if it was just a little and then she heard a something come from him. She swiveled her ears and found the source, his stomach. Her stomach was empty as well, but she couldn't help it the sound was so off topic. Opening her muzzle she laughed, her tail wagging. Finally, she stopped. "I'm sorry, but that was really funny. No need for apologies. If yours hadn't done so first mine would have. Okay I understand, time to go find our meal," she said with a huge grin. She looked around the trees to find any kind of track. There seemed to be a smell near one of the bushes. Featherswift got closer to investigate. "Ouch!," she said startled. Pulling back from the bush you could see a couple of thorns stuck on her muzzle. She had found a bramble bush.

(sorry this took so long) Gade mused at Featherswifts maw. It was covered in brambles. She must have poked her nose into a bramble bush. Hm. Good theory. "Gee, watch where you put your nose next time. Eurasia isn't here to put leaf juice on that." He teased, but didn't laugh, gesturing for her to sit down. Gingerly he examined the beautiful face with his one paw, poking here and there. "I can pull those out, no problem." He wondered how to get it out, there were quite a few thorns imbedded in there. And at that instant, he rememberred the meeting in the Sheeran camp. When he had been there, he had placed a paw on a thorn, embarrassing himself my squeeling like a puppy. Eurasia had examined his paw, then carefully removed the thorn from his pad. But as he was leaning forward to do the same, exactly as the pretty herb healer had, he rememberred she had done something else before that... Oh dear lupus, are you kidding me? I have to LICK her? Before Eurasia had slid the thorn from his paw which seemed so long ago, she said she had licked it repeatedly to soften the skin around it, letting it come out more comfortably and easier. So he didn't have to lick her. It would just be more uncomfortable for Featherswift, and probably hurt more and bleed more. Well, it was worth a try! So he leaned forward again, the last thing he wanted to do was lick Featherswift, not because she was unappealing, but it would be too wierd for him. Taking a thorn carefully in his teeth, he yanked, letting go quickly as it didn't budge. I probably hurt her. "That isn't going to work." He muttered. (Wow, Featherswift. Did you put that there intentionally? xD)

(( Actually I didn't think that he'd have to lick her, but I did want Gade to help her X3 ))
"Sorry," she said with ears down as he teased her. Her muzzle hurt a lot by the minute. Every time her heart beat it throbbed. Featherswift's ears went back up when he said that he could pull them out no problem. She'd never had so many thorns in one place. Stupid me, getting covered in thorns she growled to herself. She saw him about to take out a thorn and she closed her eyes ready for the pain. It would hurt a lot from what it felt like already. Then she opened her eyes and saw Gade hesitate. "Huh?," she thought out loud. Her muzzle felt like a porcupine got at it now and she felt a sneeze coming on.
Finally, Gade took a thorn in his teeth and yanked. "Ow!," she said startled by the pain. Looking at Gade's mouth she saw no thorn. He'd stopped pulling at it when it didn't come out. Thank goodness he noticed it wasn't going to come out like that. Tears pricked at her eyes from the pull, but she held them back to show Gade she was all right and not that badly hurt. Featherswift heard Gade mutter something that she didn't catch. "Now what?," she said. Clearly pulling them wasn't going to work without a ton of pain. She didn't know that much about this kind of stuff, but there had to be another way to do this. Maybe there was a way to soften the area and nudge the thorns out? Well she could try to lick the area, but she'd probably end up poking her tongue. Great she thought. Just like me to get tons of thorns on my muzzle from a bush while hunting.

"Well.." Gade wasn't ready to explain to Featherswift what he had to do. He could make her lick it, but she looked like she was in enough pain as it was, and he didn't want her to scratch her toungue. Gade sighed. "Ah, what the heck. Don't freak out, okay?"
And he quickly, almost as fast as anyone could blink, he swung over and brushed a wet toungue over her maw. Then he jumped back, and did it again, until he had licked her face four times. Gade stood back at first, a little awkward, but he knew that it was only a procdure to remove the thorns. Once more he proceeded to place the thorn between his teeth, and he pulled more slowly this time, and to his relief the thorn slid right out of place. "YES!" He muttered between clenched teeth. Spitting out the thorn on the ground, Gade leaned forward again to remove the rest.
Finally all of the thorns had been removed. Gade looked at Featherswift and grinned. "Sorry I had to surprise you like that. I didn't know how to explain it." His face rose to a cheesy smile, then he laughed at himself.

Featherswift was very confused. "Don't freak out about what?," she said. Suddenly she saw Gade come close to her again and go back, quickly. Wha? she thought until she felt wet fur on her muzzle, near the thorns. She was in total shock until he started to pull one of the thorns out. It gently came out and soon all were out thanks to Gade. She looked at Gade as he grinned and told her he couldn't explain it then laughed. Under her fur her skin turned hot in the way wolves blush. Featherswift shook her copper and white fur to cool down. As she did she said,"Thanks." Suddenly she laughed when she saw Gade's expression. Between laughs she choked out,"Well....now.....I...understand." It would have been hard to explain what he had to do to her. They probably would have went back to camp for help for the weirdness of the situation.

When the laughter of the two golucky wolves faded off, Gade remembered how hungry he was. "We should probably go and find some prey, if there's any left." He teased. Now he was kind of in a rush, ready to leap on a deer and kill it with a quick bite. Of course he knew, once more, that he wouldn't be very good, since he forgot everything so quickly. But one thing bothered him, a strange theory. Ever since he had properly been introduced to Featherswift, he hadn't had a single blackout, in other words, he hadn't forgotten anything.
