Lithium watched Fang with a mingle of amusement and curiosity as he struggled to shape his words around his question. Well, at least the boy's practical. Not too many old bones have come so far in one lifetime. I've journeyed more than most wolves ever have or ever will while they are alive...but I will see these packs wolves with my own breathing chest. I'll see them and if....this is the last place I will search....and then I will meet my children my Lacrymosa in heaven, set away from the others at last. The thought was blissful, the closest thing to pure happiness he had had in his countless years of wandering. Death would come for him before this year was out -- his age alone could speak for this. Had his children lived, he suspected he'd have a great-grandchild barking around their pack-mothers, perhaps freed from the strict laws he was subjected to all those years....And if not, the stars are not even close to being far away. "And if they attack us," he grumbled darkly, flexing his claws in serious demenous. He turned his head sharply to Fang, eyes glittering with humor, "well, then we run like hell!"

Fang chuckled at Lithium's last words. He was glad he met this wolf and no one else. "Well, think we should hunt first for energy and then go, just in case?" He shrugged, completely unsure and nervous with what they were about to do. He had never really felt truly accepted, and obviously these pack wolves weren't going to easily accept him. But it was worth a try. But he didn't even know if he wanted to join a pack, or if it was curiosity driving him forward. Whatever it was, there was only one way to find out.

His tail swished with agreement. Thorough. We need to be careful with our planning...I don't know how we'll be received here. "All right, then. Shall we hunt and meet on the lower ridge there?" He nodded to a small plane of leveled terrain slightly below their slope. His eyes flickered away and cast around their cold, rugged setting. His nostrils flared as he inahled deeply, mouth slightly agape to taste for prey. Snowshoes were plentiful here, bounding nimbly across the uneven inclines and depending on the pearly white of their pelts to stay hidden from the true sovereign of the lands -- the hunter. Scent was enough to banish the need to sight the creatures. He flicked his tongue across his lips, anticipating the hunt. It had been a while since he'd stopped for nourishment. A low grumble came in his stomach. I probably should've stopped a day or two ago....

Fang nodded. "Alright, works for me." Fang glanced at the ridge, telling himself that it was important to remember where it was. He glanced around the area, looking for anything that could provide him enough energy. He took a few quick whiffs, deciding what would be the easiest, fastest kill. There was a small ermine walking not to far away, hunting for its own prey. Fang pricked his ears and cautiously took a step forward, trying to keep most of his weight in his toes. He crouched down a little, eyes narrowing so he could get a better view of the ermine. It may of been small, but he knew there was enough meat to last him for awhile. A low growl rang in his throat and he stalked forward.

Lithium was a mirror of Fang, though he remained only subconsciously aware of the other wolf's actions. He was low in the signature crouch of the hunter, belly hovering just above the crusted earth, moving gradually forward in soundless, stalking strides. He ranged out into the tundra, the snowshoe's intense hearing his main enemy. Yards lie between hunter and hunted, the great auds of the rabbit fidgeting nervously as the sudden silence of the terra. Only the breath of the world rang in those elongated auds, far from the comfort of a pine copse or bustling outcrop of the animal kingdom. Maneuvering forward, he closed the land between him and his target, eyes burning into the plush white of the fur that lined its back. They settled on the juicy pulse of its neck, fresh flowing blood tucked away in its sweet veins, and meat for the famished traveler. Inches away, his snarl curled feral into the air; his prey darted wildly away, sprinting on little but limber legs across the slopes, frantic desperation mounting into phobia. Lithium tore after it on the tall stalks of a mountain wolf. With the ferocity of a piercing arrow, he jabbed the rabbit's neck and snapped, endings its life with the taste of meat and blood on his maw. He said no prayer for thanks; he'd left his traditions behind long ago. Deciding to go to the ridge and eat there, he took his prey within his jowled and jaunted with a new spring in his step towards the meeting place.

Fang flicked his ears as Lithium ran after the hare, trying to concentrate on the ermine. He stalked a few steps closer, watching it dig up something. If it was digging up a kill, then Fang was lucky to get two meals at once, if he got the ermine. If it was digging a burrow, well he'd have to be fast on his feet to stop it. The ermine stopped digging, looked around, and took one large blue egg out of the ground. Fang licked his lips. He had eaten eggs before, mainly the large eggs from eagles that lived up on the mountain. They were one of his favourite foods, so easy to get and provided so much energy. Fang lunged forwards after the ermine. The little creature hissed angrily and turned to run. Unfortunately, the few second the little ermine wasted just to hiss made it easily get caught by Fang's paws. Fang used a claw to grab at one of the ermine's legs, throwing it off balance and tumbling over. He quickly bit the animal's throat, ears pricking as a cracking sound was heard as his teeth went through the spine. The ermine shivered once and was still. Smiling, Fang dragged his prey back where he saw it digging up the eggs. He started eating immediately, too happy to notice Lithium had already gone to the ridge.

Fang was no there when Lithium arrived at their selected ridge. Wariness struck Lithium as he dropped his prey amongst the rocks. He peered around at his surroundings, teeming with ice, snow, and rock. Cold wind blustered across the mountainside, unsuccessful in purging his well-adapted pelt. Still, he felt the urge to shiver. I shouldn't be so quick to trust strangers. I know time has both ailed and aided me -- I am far more reckless now -- but I still have my life. That is still something to lose...I'm not ready to stop searching yet. He bent to eat, the scrumptious meat rolling across his tongue with luscious flavor. However, his bites were small and careful, his eyes trained ahead, tail erect at his behind, and ears auds angled to the world around him. He was not fearful, but rather watchful. He might be young, but I was an alpha once...I can take him if need be. And if he has friends, well....I'd still be able to hold my own long enough to find away out of it. Nevertheless, Lithium did not want a fight; perhaps Fang was eating his prey alone, intentions completely innoccent. Instinct led him to this distrust.

The ermine was finished quickly and so were the eggs. He was too excited to even taste what he had eaten. No doubt he would forget later on, too. He bounded off to the ridge, the energy inside him was off the charts. He hadn't felt this excited, or was it nervousness, for like, ever. The tip of his tail twitched with anticipation. Though, he paused when he noticed how tense Lithium was. He looked around curiously, trying to figure out what the heck was his problem. He narrowed his eyes and glanced from tree to tree, wondering if Lithium was being careful because there was another wolf around. Though, he didn't really smell anything. All Fang could smell was the blood of ermine on his nose. He turned back. "Hey, Lith, what's wrong?" His ears were swiveled backwards, waiting to hear any footstep or any cough, but all he heard was the wind blowing.

Lithium hovered over the last piece of rabbit meat, auds flickering behind him where Fang approached. He remained tensed there for a moment, his internal debate forced into a conclusion, at least for the time being. Gradually, he relaxed once more and lapped up the remainder of his meal. With a swipe of his tongue, he cleared the majority of the blood from his maw. He cast his eyes over hiss shoulder to Fang, offering a small nod of greeting. "Old habits die hard," he murmured. And maybe it's a good thing my caution doesn't die if we're going somewhere neither of us have ever been before, with a collection of rumors so huge no wolf knows what's the truth unless they've lived it. He sat facing Fang, tail twitching over his paws. "Should we light out now, or wait for morning?" Either way, we face risks...but I suppose we'll have to sometime. I never got to raise my own children...to hell if I let Fang do this on his own.
(Sorry it took so long/isn't that long. I wrote a real good post in comp. apps the other day and had to log out w/o posting it cause the bell rang =P)

((always carry a flash drive just in case and do the thread in Notepad first :3 )) "Let's go now," replied Fang, without even thinking about it. He just wanted to see the packs now, and wanted to head out as soon as possible. Besides, he felt like most wolves would be asleep for now, so any wolves they do encounter would have to be sleepy, right? Sleepy wolves were easier to escape from if they were, er, sleepy. Besides, with all the energy in him now, he felt if he didn't go now and waited, he would become bored and lose all the energy he had. Then maybe he'd decide to change his mind and not go visit the packs and just ruin everything. He looked away from Lithium and off into the forest, tail held high and ears pricked forward, ready to go.

The feeling was mutual here; Lithium's paws itched to leave the snowcaps far behind him. Below, the lush forest beckoned them forth into its grasp. He inhaled deeply, wondering if he could catch the faintest tastes of the land below. All that came to his nostrils were the monotonous scents of their present environment. He nodded to Fang, tail up and slightly wagging. It seemed a waste to leave such an energy and longing for tomorrow; after all, who's to say Fang wouldn't change his mind by then? Or worse, I'd change my mind and be stuck walking around this stupid ice hill until I fall of a cliff and die! The thought was oddly comical, and a wide grin flashed across his maw as he eyed up their destination. Let's go, then. "All right...let's head out."
(( good idea xD ))
