The dark brown figure ghosted through the oak trees, head low in caution. He kept to the shadows of the trees, though his own shadow pretty much stuck out like a sore thumb. He sniffed the air, and stalked out from the shadows, ears pricked and alert. The small wolf knew, even though he was coming here with a friend, they would be in big danger if a big group of pack wolves suddenly showed up. A drop of water suddenly hit his nose and he looked up at the sky. There were clouds, but it was also bright. Weird... More rain started to fall from the sky and he shook himself, though it was pointless since it didn't look like the rain was going to stop anytime soon. Was the rain maybe a sign that trespassing into pack terra was a bad idea, even though there were good intentions? He shook himself again as his thick pelt became heavy with water. It had been a long time since he was on flat ground, and all that time on the mountain made his fur really thick from the never ending ice and snow. Now that he was away from the mountain, he felt hotter despite it being mid-fall. Fang looked back near the terra's border. "Hey, Lith, I think the coast is clear."

Delightful, foreign sensations travelled up the long legs of the mountain wolf. The strange, spongy grass underpaw felt curiously soft in comparison to the rough terrains of his homeland. Of course, he had crossed through forests before, but those were in rogue and rocky regions not much different from the mountains themselves. And always in winter, too; never had he truly tasted the autumn of the pure woodlands. He maintained a low crouch, his companion slinking along next to him in the depths of the dense boscage, but his eyes were wide and his body trembled as he moved. It felt more as if he was padding through some glimpse of the promised afterlife, seeing a world that was unknown and tantalizing. He wouldn't have believed himself a part of it had it not been the chatterings that rang in his swiveling odds, the musty bark scent in his nostrils, and the feel of the forest floor tingling at his pawsteps. Rain began to tumble from the clouds, bringing with it a sense of instinctive foreboding -- our tribe would've interpreted this as a sign of bad fortune. Maybe they would've sacrificed someone to appeal to the spirits. With a wicked grin, he thought ruefully, probably would've been me if they could get their paws on me! His pelt was easily adapted to wind and snow, and the rain had little luck penetrating the thick of his fur. It cooled him considerably, but the heat that had descended with them down the mountianous slopes stayed persistant. I'll start shedding within the moon. He glanced sideways at Fang, checking the terra. He nodded curtly and started forth, placing his first paw in pack territory. "Here goes nothing, right? Now if we die or something....well, this forest was real nice, wasn't it?"

"Whut..." Fang's mouth was half open in surprise. He always thought about the here and now, he didn't want to think about dying so soon. "Yea it is pretty nice," he murmured, suddenly remembering home. He sniffed at a few trees, and shivered at the pack scent. The smells were new and foreign, but also exciting. Though, with the rain now here, maybe a pack wolf would come to check the borders soon before they went back to the camp. What would they do if a pack wolf came? Explain themselves? Ask to go to their camp? "What do we do when a wolf ask us what we're doing here?"

Wincing, Lithium's auds twitched as Fang's questions began to pool together. We really don't know what we're doing, do we? True, Lithium barely knew Fang as it was, but the knowledge each of them had of the journey they had catapaulted into was miniscule in comparison. He swept a wistful gaze around the greenery of the forest, morphing with the warm hues of autumn. We know nothing of this forest or the wolves here save for rumors we've heard. Faulty rumors, at best. We can't even navigate here, let alone flee if need be. He cast a doubtful glance to the great peaks of the mountains, ellipsing into the background. Lithium bit his tongue, looking back to Fang. I can't just leave now, it's too late for second thoughts. Asking to go to their camp....what will they do to us there? We need to learn more about these wolves before we can interact with them...but if they find us that's not an option. "I guess we'd have to do whatever seems the most likely to save our lives, wouldn't we? I don't think heading straight for the camp of a foreign group of lupines in the greatest but...it's better than being clawed and attacked."

Fang nodded and took a few steps forward. "Here...we...go..." He started to pad where he thought the camp would be. He breathed in deeply, hoping to get a good scent of fresh pack wolf. Unfortunately, the rain was washing most of the important scents away, and the scents he did smell he couldn't tell if they were fresh or not. He shrugged, and decided a perfect excuse if they got in trouble was that they didn't smell the border. He wondered if he should howl just to make his presence known. He opened his mouth, but then he remembered Lithium was with him, too. It only made sense to ask first. "Should I howl?" he muttered, not wanting to look back incase a wolf came.

Uncertainties began to wear on him. His indiscision left action up to Fang, but he knew the wolf would not speak for both of them. I have to make a choice. Am I in this, or not? I've come this far...now we have to act. Not just for Fang...but for Lacrymosa, too. What if they've seen her, what if they know her? I'll never know unless we ask.... Lithium shrugged his broad shoulders, sinking into deep contemplation. For a few long moments, he was silent. At long last, he drew in a deep breath of the thick, warm forest air and nodded gently to Fang. "Okay....I'll howl with you. We'll let them know we're here...but it won't be a challenge. It'll be better this way...if they stumbled upon us, they might think we had malicious intents." He tilted his head back, eyes flickering to Fang. "Ready?"

"Ready." Fang tilted his head up slightly and howled. His howl was short, not wanting it to be too long in case a wolf popped out of the trees while he was in the middle of still howling.
((Sorry, low muse, tons of tests in school))

(( That's okay, it happens )) Inhaling deeply, Lithium mentally braced himself. Here it goes... He tossed his head back and twined his howl with Fang's. After a short while, he released, eyes immediately penetrating the terra in search for wolves. "....And now we wait."Ahooooo!"Huh?"The rabbit darted in the space between her paws, escaping as her patience was jarred. Carolina stared blankly as her prey dove into the bowels of its earthen den. The honed warrior scarcely ever lost a prey, and rarely was it so careless as that. I'm supposed to be focused on the hunt! Not let things distract me.... Subconsciously, she sniffed the air. The howl was so sudden, and yet, it wasn't the blaring declaration of a battle howl, nor was it Fireflight's beckon for a pack meeting. She wrinkled her nose as foreign scents wafted beneath her nose. Wolves...probably two, no more than three. Different wolves....wolves I've never smelled before! Without further hesitation, she strode off with a briskness in her step, brow furrowed in confusion. What smell is this? Please don't tell me it's another Blood Mist branch...I need backup! She blinked desperately around the trees around her, begging for another Destinian to appear.
