Suddenly, the danger redirected its wrath. Pupils shifting upward, in an exhausted and numbing haze, Dallas saw not one, but two shapes flitting through the spring. The lion was writhing, provoked and mad—possibly with disease. The last of his air bubbles escaped his nostrils. Damn it, think of September! Swallowing harshly, Dallas kicked upward. A sizable tail swatted his abdomen, and his maw split open. Water poured into his lungs, and, finally breaking the surface, only sputtering and choking seemed to form his vocabulary. Clinging to the edge of the pool, Dallas gradually remained enough consciousness to realize that September had not risen with him. Swiveling about, he looked down at the mixed pelts kicking tsunamis across the pool. “September, we’ve gotta go!” He dove down again, careful to avoid sinking below the target, and shoved September. The cat aimed a swipe, and it came down hard on his shoulder. The water ran pink, and he scrambled for the surface, unable to hold his breath further.

September whimpered as her stomach received a blow from a frenzied paw. grip released and then she was moved out of the way her body floated to the surface of the milky red water. She looked for Dallas once she broke the surface. In a panic, she went to paw at him lightly diving under the surface.
We should run. She nipped at him to get his attention she then scrambled out of the water. She paced the water's edge waiting for Dallas to surface. That cat would lose it breath soon any way.

A sharp yip reached his ears, and that was all he needed. Bursting from the waves, Dallas hoisted his drenched frame onto one of the surrounding rocks. Behind him, he heard shrieks of fury from their abandoned opponent, who was trying to regain its bearings. Possibly rabid, indeed Dallas thought grudgingly. Briefly glancing at September Breeze, he coughed hoarsely. The two of us alone aren’t enough to take down a crazy cat… He blinked, staring back at the fallen feline. Unless… “September, do you think we could knock one of these boulders loose?” he questioned breathlessly, limping toward one of the higher tiers of the rock mound. The cougar began to resurface, regaining its sense of balance. Dallas tested a few rocks, repeatedly glancing down at the enraged feline below.

September looks at him and nods. She follows him to help knock over the boulder. She looks at him out of the corner of her eye. He needs to go to the healer right after this. She helps him push a boulder into the spring.

The sting of his shoulder labored his thrusts, but remained numb to the full extent of the pain. Sweet adrenaline still fueled every itch of a muscle, and, for the moment, he was invincible. The boulder quivered with the weight of his paws, and the combined force of both wolves forced it from its shelf. There was a scatter of pebbles, and an enormous splash—and the fierce caterwauling was no more. Dallas stood, panting, peering down at the shallow chasm. The stone obstructed his view, but there was little room for imagination—the panther had been defeated. They were safe. “Hurm…” he began, tiredly, “…you okay, then?”

"I guess as good as i can be... Are you gonna be able to make it to the healer?" She panted as she looked into the bloody water as it turned lighter and lighter pink the cat nowhere to be seen. She sighed with relief she really felt dizzy and light headed. she was also very happy Dallas what alive and standing next to her. She took this time to turn and attempt to nuzzle his neck to reassure herself that he was really there.

"Erm...?" The mere ringing of her voice summoned some reserve of strength in his veins. He flexed his toes, checking to see if he could walk. He could. Then, quite suddenly, he was caught off-guard. The chance encounter, the spa, the panther-- it was all exciting, sure, but none so startling and simultaneously soothing as this. Before he could blink, she brushed against him, warmth spreading from the source of her touch. He hardly hid a delighted smile. "Yeah... I think I'll make it. Let's get out of here."

"Yeah" She nods, nuzzling him slightly before turning and limping down the rocks to solid ground. Her head was hung in exhaustion as her adrenalin wore off. and a small puppy like yawn escaped from her delicate maw. Her mind swirled with thoughts of Dallas. Her inner self smiles wickedly, and suddenly she stumbled to her left feeling lightheaded. Had she not been breathing? "Oh Wow, I need to breath."

At long last, the day’s light began to wane in sync with their energy. Exhaustion weighted his shoulders, and his slowed gait mirrored the bruises and soreness of the days to come. All the same, it didn’t matter. His eyes trailed upward, glancing sight of the childlike yawn of his courageous companion. “Hehe, you better start breathing, ‘cause I don’t think I have the strength to drag you all the way home,” he offered good-naturedly. Even with his teasing, he knew inwardly that he’d go to any lengths to carry her back. “You alright there?”

September giggle at herself “I’ll try, just so you don’t have to drag me back to camp.” She smiled inwardly at the thought of him trying to be a hero anyhow. He just seemed to fit the part. His question brought her out of the daydream; “Yeah I’m well, just daydreaming…” she trailed off a slight blush forming under her fur.
