She was unable to resist rolling her eyes as the brute simply slid his paw against a stone. Not exactly the best solution, but who cares. “Aren’t you the optimistic one? Heh, I wouldn’t say a pack, but my family… well, we don’t like pack wolves that much. Not the individuals, per say—“ except for Destinians “—but we’re not accustomed to the lifestyle. Honestly, doesn’t it feel weird to be hanging around with so many wolves all the time?” After a moment of silence, Neva studied Shaw, amused. “And are you always this happy about strangers stepping into your territory?” Seriously, what’s the deal with smiley-boy?

"I guess it does take getting some used to," Shaw assented. "But it could be... what's the word... an acquired taste, I suppose. After all, I've been here since I was a pup. Besides, look at me now. I'm alone, except for you. There's solace when you want to look for it."
His tail flapped nervously from one side to another as he took in her last statement. Dang it! She's on to me!
"I guess not," Shaw said, not noticing that he was pacing slightly as he talked. "But, I mean, you're just one wolf and it's not much of a threat. And you're nice to talk to. And you're er, pretty when you smile." Inwardly, he smacked himself. Really, was the last statement necessary? Really?
And that was when Shaw fell off Suicide Hill.

Her head tilted to one side. In fact, her ear was practically smashed against her shoulder. Pretty? Uh… And then Shaw slipped off the edge of the Hill. For a moment, she sat there, staring in shock at the now vacant space. It was as if she had been speaking to a ghost who had suddenly returned to the realm of the dead. Her heart pounded violently. Maybe I’m not all that far off! Breaking the stillness, she yelped and frantically skidded down the rocks, nearly tripping over herself trying to find Shaw’s fallen body. “Shaw?? Are you alright!?”

...The buzzing of a bee interrupted the still air. Was that a bee? Maybe someone's distorted voice. Did it matter?... Not really...
"Uuuungngh." His head hurt. His legs hurt. His back hurt. His... too many parts of him to even name hurt. His eyelids flickered open and he stared up into the sky. A fluffy cloud passed by.
Shaw was vaguely aware of a few sharp rocks embedded in his backside. Struggling to keep his eyes open, he rolled - if such a pathetic movement could be called rolling - to the side. Some fell off. It was useless trying to reach the ones that actually stuck though, and he wasn't in the mental state to provide a plan to do so. There might have been something warm running down his back, but heck if he was going to figure out what that was...
A few thoughts finally managed to penetrate the murky haziness around his brain. Most importantly...
"Neva?" he groaned.

Finally discovering the crippled form—conveniently on the ground below, in plain sight—Neva skidded to a halt, frantically searching his body. She rasped the pink of her tongue several times over his face, attempting to bring him to consciousness. At the sound of his voice, she held back, a concerned glisten in her eyes. Sure, he’s a pack wolf, but he didn’t do anything wrong—I need to help him. But how…? She blinked, searching head about. “Shaw, I can… you packs have healers, don’t you? I can go to your camp and find a healer, okay? And… unless I could carry you?” She blinked slowly, feebly attempting to assess the damage. It doesn’t seem safe to move him. “Urgh, should I… I jeez, I’ll be back—” With that, she disappeared into the brush, racing for camp at a breakneck pace.

"I might be able to... get up," he mumbled as she licked his face. He didn't think she heard, though. Shaw rolled over slightly; he couldn't do much because he was incapacitated. He made as if to push himself to his feet, maybe to try to get to camp, but stopped trying as soon as the first surge of pain streaked through his body.
Then he watched as Neva shot off into the brush. He was a little glad that the decision had been made for him, whether to limp back to camp or just wait for help; all the same, he felt a little helpless, not being able to do anything but lay there.
I guess... I guess I'm not dead. Whoopee. He stared up at the sky, the clouds moving slowly by. I hope she'll be okay, being a loner and all. But I'm sure the pack wouldn't refuse help, considering that it's better to be safe than to be...
He winced. His head was hurting.
