He collapsed, and nodded. "Why, thank you Shiver. I do appreciate the compliment." He grinned softly, breathing rather hard. His head was laying on his front columns as he worked to rest himself. To collect himself so they may go and report. Only, they were a good ways away from the main camp land. Getting there in his current condition would take more than a miracle. It'd probably take a cloud picking him up and transporting him there. Finally, he said "Shiver..I hate to say it but I think...we should call it a night. Rest out here. Hunt in the morning. Try and make it to camp tomorrow, but if we can't, then we'll camp out again. I'm sure...The Alphas will be curious in where we had disappeared, but...What ever it is...We'll have to take it slow." He hated to spat those words out but they needed to be sad and if he hadn't said it then, then he wouldn't have said it at all.

A somewhat soft smile—in any case, far softer than she was used to—crept onto the villainess’ lips. “No problem, you studly man. And, quite frankly, I was hoping you’d ask; hate to wind up dragging a corpse into camp to report with me.” She ventured off a bit, sniffing around at the flora and fauna that carpeted their surroundings. Hell was right, of course; they were on the outskirts of the territory, and Hellfire especially needed the rest. Shiver sneezed, discovering a small but secluded badger set. From the scent, she noted that it was abandoned, and returned to Hell’s side. “Here, I found a small den for us. You can be dead there.” She nudged his side gently with her nose.

He groaned, and gave an episode a two year old would. Teasingly, of course. "Awh, but Shhhiiiivvveerrr...." He whined, eyes opening for a moment, before closing again. "Five more minutes..." He said, and managed to keep a straight face. After a moment, and he was sure she was staring at him like he had lost his mind for good, he slowly got up and said "I was perfectly fine being dead there. But I suppose the den will be better for shelter, no?" He brushed past her, heading for the den she had found, and collapsed in that. It was small. They'd have to curl up into balls that were close to each other. But right now, he really didn't care. He looked up at her, and winked softly. "Better?"

Shiver drew her head back at the not-so-melodious whine that exited his maw. She blinked at him, trying to decide whether or not his sincere expression was truth or lies, but ultimately did not have to make the decision. Instead, a comfortable amusement settled in her eyes, despite the pain and the drowsiness that threatened to overcome her—and Hell as well, no doubt. She smirked as he entered the den, allowing the larger male to slip past her and settle himself as he saw fit. “Yes, better. Now unless you want me to tuck you in Blood Mist style, you’d better still be here in the morning. I’d rather not wake up and find that you’ve gone off and died trying to alert the pack or something, Mr. Hero.” She stepped over him, her tail lightly whapping against his face. She curled into a tight ball beside him, their pelts touching but their muzzles angled in individual directions. She sighed softly, beginning to drift her eyelids shut, rather unnerved by the warmth of another body so close to her, but dismissing it all the same. I’m too tired for this.

"Oh no. Not necessary. I haven't needed to be tucked in Blood Mist style for a while." He grinned, eyes drifting shut. He wasn't sure what he was dreaming about that night. All he knew for certain was that Shiver was still beside him because there wasn't an absence of warmth. It shouldn't have gotten too cold anyways, but with them being under ground and all it would serve to be rather cool. The moonlight filtered through the entrance, and danced upon their bruised, and bloodied forms. Yet, it was comforting. The moon, that is. ~~~ Sunlight began to filter through the hole of the badger den. Hellfire blinked his eyes slightly, the light flooding to his sensitive eyes. A groan was heard, and if he had been human and had a pillow it would be hiding his eyes at the moment. He stirred slightly, but other than that didn't like to move. He didn't want to risk waking Shiver up.

“Darkdeath…I love you.” Sweet nothings passed between both maws, promises of an eternal guardian and preserved affection flying into the wind in a frenzy. Too hasty. But a shadow lurked just beyond their peripheral vision, waiting for that singular moment in time where he would expose himself to the light. Expose himself to the blood. Fighting. Darkdeath and the shadow creature locked in a ferocious dance without rhyme or reason, fangs and claws whistling through the stillness of the air. Then, finally, another flash of claws—her stomach, shredded within seconds, and the pups within lost to an eternity in some other realm. Then silence. No more Mephisto, Darkdeath. No more worries. Where did you all go? Flexing her claws amidst the reminiscing, Shiver shifted about in her sleep. Her eyes twitched within their sockets, her muscles tensing, and then nothing. Her muscles relaxed, slowly drawing out of her circular form. Her neck extended, head brushing against Hellfire’s shoulder. Instinctively, and under the haze of drowsiness, Shiver nuzzled against the warmth. Her eyes slid open slightly, noting the familiar ebony pelage. But the scent was off. Immediately pulling away, she attempted to mask her embarrassment with a casual stretch, her forelegs extending while she yawned. She glanced toward the brute, noting that he was also awake, and offered a small smile. “Good morning. Sore?”

He smiled back slightly, and said "Yes. Just slightly." He stretched each leg out, a yawn escaping his open maw. He scrambled past her, and into the blinding sunlight. "Mid after-noon?" He blinked a few times, and then cursed under his breath. "Shiver, I believe the term you meant to use was "Good Afternoon." We've lost half a day of traveling, not to mention the fact that we still need to hunt. Both of us need the energy, yet I doubt we'd be able to catch a rabbit now. Mostly because their all awake." He gave a sheepish smile, and then shook his head. "We need to move." He stepped froward, and then into a trot, glancing over his shoulder to her. His body protested to the movements but they had to move.

“It can’t be that late.” Raising her brow, Shiver stepped into the light, not satisfied until the harsh fire of the noon sun lit her pelt ablaze. She stood, immobile, for several moments of processing. Hellfire noted about the possibilities of catching prey just as the realization clicked in her mind. She sighed, shaking herself, as if to drive the ache from her muscles. But she had endured worse. Compared to the agony of Hellfire, and the more raw, intense pain of heartache, she had only woken on the wrong side of the den. Not too bad. As long as we can get to camp without running into anyone, we’ll be fine. “Alright, let’s head for camp. Maybe we’ll find some leftovers on the way.” She shrugged, knowing full well that it wasn’t exactly probable, but throwing it out for consideration nevertheless. “We do need the energy, but we shouldn’t expend what we have if we can’t catch anything. Best to move now, worry about hunger later.” Stiffly, Shiver headed past her packmate, and headed in the direction of the Blood Mist stronghold.

"Right. If we find something, we'll kill it. If we don't..." He shrugged, figuring she would fill in the rest. He broke into a lope, a nice easy lope, and eased himself through the tall grass and trees. For having fallen off a cascade a day earlier, he was moving like a champ. Hell eased himself ahead, leading the way.
