A mangy figure sat in the mist of Indigo Falls, his brown coat sticking out against anything the afternoon threw at him. He had been so close, but no, large game was never for him, and now his shoulder bled because of his failed attempt. Sure, he looked pitiful, but if you just looked closer, his looks would never change, wounds would come and go, scars were another way of paying for one's sins. Gossip had enough, now he lived for only the thrill of feeling his fangs in flesh, wither or not the cause was worthy.

"Feverfew, dandelion, lilac, lavendar..." The breathtaking beauty sat alone, her silvery-white pelt occasionally ruffled by the cool autumn winds that rushed over the territories. A watery roar echoed in the backdrop, and the day was actually fairly sunny compared to the seasonal norm of gray skies. The young girl was quietly dedicated to her collecting of herbs when a figure moved at the edges of her vision. She looked up and studied the brown wolf with mild curiosity. She had seen him before, and was fairly certain his name was Gossip, but otherwise knew nothing of him. He has a wounded shoulder... Quiet as a mouse, Cora gathered her leaves and herbs and padded over to the other wolf. "Excuse me -- Gossip, is it? I'm Cora, the herb healer neophyte. I can help you with your shoulder if you'd like?"

His still functioning ear perked at the sound of a voice, the voice of a fae that sounded in the sunlight. Without even knowing, his head turned to the source of the voice, and his blue eyes settled upon Cora, the herb healer neophyte. A spark of remembrance flashed in his mind, all he knew was the females name, and her rank within the pack. "Yes, my name is Gossip, don't wear it out." The mumble hardly escaped him, suddenly realizing for being rude. "Uh, excuse me if I sound rude. My shoulder is fine, I'm not immobile yet." Though it's bound to happen soon He grimaced at the thought, the thinking of him getting killed hurt him, though he must admit, if he kept up this attitude of his, he was as good as dead.

Cora's eyes were unfathomable at the wolf's behavior, as if she disregarded anything he'd said completely. She peered curiously at his shoulder, and shook her head slightly. "I think I'll have a look at it. You're not immobile yet, but that's no way to act with these sorts of things. Even the littlist scratch can end up an ugly, infected pain in the butt if you don't treat it right away." She sniffed cautiously at the wound, and then began to paw through her pile of collected herbs, searching for a specific remedy. Thanks to Kreuger, she had begun to learn something useful about herblore, and was able to make simple poultices without being aided. As she began to tear and chew the leaves to make a poultice, she swished her tail to Gossip. "So what're you up to out here? It's a pretty nice day for this late in autumn."

Gossip let his tail flick around his paws, his eyes closing with a strange peace he had not felt since his pup hood. "Thinking..." He paused, just taking in the sounds of the day. "Many things on my mind that I have to clear..." Her let his head drop, as if he was dosing, but in reality, staring at his paws brought back memories, bad memories, haunting memories... "I can't change the past..." He winced as he carelessly said his thoughts out loud, but the brute made no move to fix them.

Cora raised a brow as he spoke -- he'd gotten suddenly sentimental on her. Mildly irritated, but a master at concealing her thoughts, Cora offered Gossip what appeared to be a comforting smile as she began to apply the cooling poultice onto his wound. "Well, you're right on that one; you can't change the past. But what you could be thinking about instead is the future. I bet there are things in the past -- good and bad -- that you never thought could happen but they did. Well, same goes for the future. You might think you know what you're getting, but someday, something wonderful could blow you away that you didn't even see coming." Oh dear Verlust, now I'm a fricken therapist, too? The pretty she-wolf's tail twitched irritably, though she kept up a serene, comforting smile. "Everyone has something they regret or whatnot, it's just a bitter part of life."

Gossip shook his head slightly, taking a deep breath to go back into his reality. "I don't regret my past." He half snarled half growled, his blue eyes snapping open only to narrow to thin slits once more. He thought for a moment, a smirk coming along his muzzle. "Do you think those Destinians will be stupid enough to fight?"

Unintimidated, Cora met his gaze with her own crystal blue eyes. She raised a brow and muttered in a tone laden with sarcasm, "Right, of course you don't. That's totally why you were out here thinking about it." She shrugged her shoulders, letting it go, but not about to let herself by tough-talked either. She continued her work on his wound, ears flicking slightly at his question. Well, they won't have a choice, We're certainly attacking them, so they'd be even more ignorant to not defend themselves. "Well, I don't think it's so much if they'll be stupid enough to fight...there will be a battle. But the real question is, are the other packs going to keep being stupid enough to come to their aid? They keep up this talk like if they all band together, they can beat us, but when has that ever happened? I just hope for their sake they get their wits about them and start allying themselves with the winning side."

Gossip let a smile form along his maw, maybe it was rare for anyone to see it. His paws shuffled in the dirt, making the damp particles scatter slightly. At the same time, her reached out a fore paw, extending it forward in a weird stretch. Their not gonna give up. Her shook his head, rolling his eyes and and smiling even wider. We'll see to that they come crawling on their stomachs.... "They can't possibly win another time, it's about time their done for..."

Finished, the young healer stepped back to admire her handiwork. Gossip's injury was now laden with poultice, but it would soak in eventually and guard the wound from infection. After dabbing some of the excess goo with a pawful of cobwebs, she nodded slightly in approval. "There you go. Now it'll heal much faster, and you shouldn't have any nasty infections to deal with." She shrugged her shoulders slightly at his commentary of the past battle, expression skeptical. "Well, they didn't exactly win, but they didn't completely lose, either. They set out to stop us from making a permanent settlement, so that failed, and we managed to capture a wolf and damage the confidence of the packs, but the Destinians as a whole managed to hold their ground. It was almost a tie, perhaps tipped slightly in our favor, except for the fact that in the next battle, I believe both sides will be just as determined as the other. If all of the packs unite again, it will hard to make it a decisive fight, but the Siverian and Sheeran leaderships are somewhat dormant, and the Yozorans are considerably weak. There is a good chance we'll be facing the Destinians alone, at least in the beginning. And now that we have healers on our side -- which the Destinians don't have -- we'll be at an even greater advantage," she smiled slightly, pleased with her own analysis. She tilted her head, eyes studying Gossip with a measure of interest. "You seem very excited for this battle to come. Everyone is, of course, but is there anything else fueling your interest in it?"

Gossip let himself relax, thinking her heard a sound in the bushes. "Nothing much more, i haven't fought in so long, it'll be good to finally show my strengths to those who doubt." He looked back to the other side of the water fall, letting what short senses he had wander around while he spaced out.

(That's okay, I'll try to add in something new ^^ )
As Cora sat back and listened to the wolf, she snorted in mild indignation at his response. Of, course, I shouldn't have expected anything different. "Isn't that what all guys are after? Proving themselves like they're big and buff and 'oooh, look at me, I'm stronger'! Huh!" Cora collected her herbs hastily, not really wanted to stick around for what she knew would be disagreement coming from the other wolf. "Well, I get it to a certain extent, but after a while, it's just plain insecurity -- the need to win other's fear and approval. A real man and a real wolf can do so without lifting a finger; they can do all of this with just one look." As if to prove her point, she gazed at him with subtle hints of a glare in her icy blue eyes and a single, reproachful brow raised. I wish it were the days of true Blood Mist...now we're just a bunch of ruffians and barabarians.

Gossip looked at Cora in dismay, mixed emotions glinting in his blue eyes. "Cora, I didn't mean it like that!" He glanced at his paws for a second, his smirk vanishing and turning into a frown. "Felt like an omega all my life! You wouldn't understand!" He bit his tongue, not meaning to yell. "I don't even know why I'm in a pack.."

(( Ugh, I had a post and then I hit home on accident and it erased. I'll try to replicate as closely as I can xP ))
Cora looked at him with cruel, uncaring blue eyes. Those who did not know the young healer well may say she was just that -- cruel and uncaring. Others, though, who knew her better understood that she rarely ever felt sorry for anyone, regardless of their situation or if it was worse than her own. Her features were wrinkled with disdain as she flicked her ears in acknowledgement of his response; acknowledgement did not mean she was in agreement. She met Gossip's dismayed gaze with one of unyielding apathy. "And my mother died in childbirth. Suck it up. You're only an omega in your eyes, so if you never see yourself as anything but that, how do you expect anybody else to? It doesn't matter what others think of you, it's how you think of yourself." She hastily gathered the rest of her herbs together, displeased that she was now short of her required count and would have to stay and gather more. She would've preferred a dramatic exit, but she knew Kreuger would be displeased and with winter and battles coming along fast, the pack would need them. She took a sniff of one of the leaves and then went along scenting in the grasses, searching for more.

(( Ah I hate it when that happens! ))
Gossip looked as Cora walked away, her nose close to the ground as she sniffed for herbs. He hesitated for a moment before straining to stand, limping after her. "Can I help you with your herbs? It'll make time fly, and you can get away from me faster." He paused, trying to remember what he wanted to say. "Plus if all four packs join together, we may need more help when it comes to wounds.."
