BurnNote was stalking through the brush the best she could. She still moved with a slight limp, her banner thrashing helplessly through the air in a futile attempt to keep the blaze of fur on her feet. Her intelligent blue eyes were shining with a new light. She was determined to get back into shape. This would be hard with the limp, and the scars that were still fresh, and easily seen from afar. She wasn't even going to attempt to hunt, but this seemed like a good place to try and regain some of her pride. Yet, that wasn't what happened. Her bad leg locked up, and sent her propelling into the dirt, and she was rolling head over heels. A snarl was heard when she finally came to a stop, covered in dirt. She shook her pelt clean, and spat a few times on the ground in an attempt to remove all the grit from her mouth. She sighed softly, and slowly walked forward. She wasn't going to allow herself to wallow in self pity, but she would allow herself a rest.

He had to make sure she was safe. Wow, the idiot really thought he could lie to me? He insults my sense of smell as well as my pride? Sniffing out BurnNote had been ridiculously easy. He hadn't dared leave the proximity of the Siverian wolves until they'd crossed back over into Siverian territory, but as soon as he'd padded across the Destinian border -- not caring to be conscpicious -- he'd merely had to taste the air to pick up a hint of her scent. The dark brute now loped casually through the open forest, not bothering with an attempt to be stealth. He wasn't the type to insult anyone's nose. He came to an abrupt halt as he heard a stirring up in the woods ahead. Slowly, he raised his head from the trail of Burn's scent and his eyes came to rest on her limping form. He felt a small stab of emotion as he watched her struggle through ordinary, everyday motions. It was precisely pity or guilt, but he did feel partially responsible and somewhat sorry for her. Maybe I should just go....she'll be fine with her pack...But he couldn't quite bring himself to turn away without saying a word. So, instead, he took a few steps into Burn's line of vision and chuckled softly. "Long time, no see."

She knew long before he had said anything that there was yet another wolf. She had tilted her head to the side, and was now tilting her head to the side. Ohhh, yes. Her eyes grew very wide when she saw Regulus step into her line of vision. A mix of emotions swelled up inside her her, almost to the point of them pouring out of her orbs in the form of tears. She nodded her crown though, and kept her wits about her. The former blood mist was now in her lands, and although he was the one who had saved her life, he could easily be taken for a threat. "Long time indeed, Regulus. What brings you here?" She asked curiously, tilting her crown to the side.

His brow raised at her inquiry and he mirrored the tilt of her head. For a moment, he said nothing, but simply smirked. It was ridiculously how the chains had fallen away from him the moment he'd left his hated hole in Blood Mist. He was a wolf outside of anyone's law now; if he wanted something, he could reach out and take it for himself. Perhaps it was selfish as some would accuse, but after being bound to the same dull routine for so long, he couldn't help but celebrate his new found freedom. Here he was, strutting through a pack's territory. And there's nothing they can do about it. "Well, I figured I should come and make sure I didn't spring you out for nothing. Your little healer friend's alright, too, by the way. She found a packmate to help her and her plus three get back home safely." Why was he here? Clearly, there was no emotion in the fae's eyes. Whatever brief moment of feeling they had had was a fluke -- he realized this now. And still, his paws were rooted to the forest floor and the smirk refused to fade from his maw.

What ever he saw in her eyes was only a facade. He hadn't been tricked when she showed that bit of emotion, but was clearly now. She wasn't sure she should allow her true feelings to come flooding through her orbs. She cleared her throat, and allowed a smile to spread across her maw. She glanced over his form, noting the smirk. What was the smirk for? She thought for a moment, raising an eyebrow. She was about to question it when he spoke. So, her friend had given birth? She couldn't help but chuckle softly. "So, she gave birth to the pups already? I suppose you made sure they got home safely, right?" She asked, a bit of concern still found in her tone for her friend and her pack mate. And pups. Oh, how she wished she didn't have to hide behind a wall to hide her true emotions. Yet, it was the way she had always known. She very slowly cleared her throat, and looked down for a few moments. She had the urge to say the words, but her throat had clenched around the lyrics, and was refusing to let them budge. When at last she uttered them it seemed as if the wind had to push the sweet lyrics to her audits. "I'm glad you came by, Regulus."

Regulus chuckled softly and nodded with a roll of his eyes. "Seriously, it seemed like that chick was pregnant forever. Well, at least I haven't ever seen her not pregnant or recall a time where she wasn't. She and her bouncing bundles of joy made it back safely, yes. I hung around, but kept my distance. I was never really good with kids." It was somewhat strange, speaking like this, as if they were friends. As if they could be friends. The great, enormous difference between himself and Burn was that she would never relenquish the chains that held her to the Destinians -- she was one of those types. In truth, he never thought he would really take off from Blood Mist, either. He'd spent so many years as their prisoner without even knowing it. He shrugged his shoulders the smirk finally fading when she spoke. "You're glad to see me," he repeated blankly. "Are you sure about that?"

Shit. Shit, shit, shit shit shit! She stared at him for a few moments, audits slightly slanted to the side. Of course she was happy to see that the Blood Mist hadn't been able to touch him. She was also happy that he had come by to see her. So, why was this sudden panick being felt that was rising in her chest. Maybe it was because she knew what he knew. He was now a loner, was he not? And she was a loyal pack member, who could never imagine herself leaving her pack. Not after all the crap she had been through. Not after her life. There was also the score to settle with her brother. The stupid, ignorant, self-centered bastard would have to deal with her, and let me be the one to tell you that she can be a royal pain in the ass. If you haven't seen her dedication yet then you will soon see it. Yet, knowing all this, the dove found herself nodding her head. "Of course I'm sure about it. I wouldn't say something unless I was absolutely sure about something." Obviously, she was letting on that she knew about his little 'fib', if that's what you wish to call it. He was her brother. Of course she would know what he would do. With a sigh, she closed her eyes, and bowed her head slightly. Exhaling slowly, she raised her crown, and looked him square in the eyes. "I am glad that you came by to check in on me. Honestly. Iiiif that's what you had meant." She allowed the corner of her mouth to lift into a smile.

Regulus drank it all in, the words she spoke and the expressions that passed her faces. She was still a mystery to him -- here and there, there was a glimmer of something or she might say something that let on to what she was really thinking or feeling. But in all truth, these little pieces were jumbled bits of feeling and thought and made no real sense as a bigger picture. He seemed to deeply consider what she had said before he spoke again. "And why, exactly, are you glad to see me?" She has to know it too, doesn't she? I'm never going to be the perfect little halo-wearing pack wolf. I'm always going to be wild, I'll never be predictable. So what are we doing here, really? We can't be friends. Pack wolves don't make friends with anyone but themselves. What am I even doing and what's with this stupid friends thing? When have I ever needed or desired friends? He scuffed at the ground in frustration. He wasn't able to read BurnNote, but he wasn't able to read himself, either.

He was starting to make her feel alarmed, and it was really un-nerving to her. She stood up, and slowly began to back away, her orbs trailing along on the ground. Why was he asking so many questions? Since when have her feelings mattered before? Besides, she was a pack wolf, and he was...free now. She shook her head at herself, and allowed him a meagor shrug of the shoulders. "I don't know..." She murmured. She really did have a faint idea of what she was feeling, but that didn't matter. Why should it matter? Or, a better question still, why would he care what she thought? So, she slowly began to withdraw into the shelter she had always known. She slowly began to back into it's welcoming grasp. Years of lonliness did that to you. After all, how did she know it wasn't just a spur of the moment? He had been the only male she had been around all those days in the cave. How did she know that it wasn't just something that she had felt for the moment? After all, they had battled, and they had been enemies. So, why was she getting it in her head that they could be more than enemies? Friends, or..or even... No! They couldn't be either...could they? She quickly, and vigoriously shook the thought from her mind.

He stared at her for a moment, eyes slightly narrowed. So she had been playing with him to escape. Of course she had been -- why in the world had he thought otherwise? And that little ploy that she'd used moments before had, perhaps, been another attempt to use him for Destinian aims. "You know what, I'll go then," he murmured softly. "Didn't mean to make you uncomfortable." He said the words, but didn't yet turn to make his leave. He couldn't think of anything more to say at the moment, but, despite what he said, he didn't feel quite ready to leave, either. He was waiting for her to stop him, or at least waiting to see if she would try. If she didn't, well then, there was nothing more to be said and he would be free to go. But if she did...well, then there some more soul-searching to do, wasn't there?

Despite the fact that her leg protested to the sudden movement she leapt forward, reaching for him. "No! Don't go...please." She murmured, her eyes wide with raw emotion. Her lyrics were drawn at the end, pleading heard in it. She closed her eyes for a second, and then said "I don't know why, but I care about you..." She had said it quickly, and then cast her eyes to the sod below them. She didn't want him to leave. Not yet, at lease.
OoC: Wow. That was a FAIL!

(( that's okay. I feel like this thread is sorta a *facepalm* of awkwardness xD ))
Ah. The bait was taken. So now, there were two possibilities to explore. Either she was attempting to lure him in to continue futhering Destinian purpose -- perhaps she'd remembered something else she might need him for -- or....or......well, the other possibility was only a possibility. It had no probablitiy attatched to it. "You want me to stay....then give me a reason to." He stook a small step towards her, eyes searching. "You detest me. You loathe every inch of my traitorous body. There's not a virtue here that you'll fine to your liking, not even loyalty. So tell me why." Part of him didn't really expect a conclusive answer, but a part of him needed exactly what he'd asked for.

She gave a hiss of frustration, and shook her crown, looking down. She didn't know why she felt this...this...this attraction to him. She didn't know why she cared for him, but she couldn't imagine herself admitting it to his face. Not now...could she? She shook her dome once more, and said "I don't know how to explain it. I do despise you with everything that I once knew. I hated your guts. I hated you because you took me captive! I hated you because you fought me and won. I still don't know how, but some how I began to feel...attracted to you." The words were choked out, and the dove stopped talking, and abruptly looked down to the ground, cursing herself a thousand times or more. Stupid, stupid, stupid!

A dark, dry chuckle was like a banner for his skepticism. Regulus began to pace methodically in front of her, head down, analyzing the ground as his mind continued to whir. For a moment, it looked like his mouth would curl into a snarl, but instead, he merely spoke in a voice laden with bitterness. "You're attracted to me? Why, is it because I'm tall dark and handsome, or irresistably charming, or you like the bad boys? How could it be anything more than superficial, you barely know me! All you know is the monster I was before and the would-be martyr I was on the night I let you go. You don't know where I came from, you don't know anything about my family, you don't know a thing about me." He took a step closer to her, eyes boring into hers with an expression of fierce passion written in his eyes as he continued with vehemence, "But I know you. I know you were a loner, and your brother is Hellfire, and now you're extremely loyal to your pack and wouldn't betray them for the world. I know you have a fire inside of you that can never be put out completely or held subservient for long. I know you are a strong, independent, and powerful woman who stops at nothing to get what she wants because you're that stubborn. I know that you're a skilled fighter because I've fought with you tooth and nail myself, but unlike me, you have something worth fighting for. I know that when I look at you, I feel like I'm on fire again like I was for so long, and it's like a torture. You torture me because I was like you once -- I had a fire inside, too, and I don't want you wasting that on the likes of me. I've had my fair share of flaming dames, and I know, yet I'm not sure you see, I don't deserve you! And you surely don't want me." When he finished, he was panting for air, for the intensity behind the words was very nearly overpowering.

With each word she cringed, not liking the sound of his tone, or the edge she picked up in it. He was right. She didn't know anything about him. Now she was beginning to feel aggravated with herself. She stood there like a dummy, and stared at him, un-blinking. What was she to say when she felt her insides turning like she was going to puke? It was true, all of it. She knew nothing of his past, only that he had burned for the longest time in what could be called hell. She didn't know about his past, about him, or his personality. So, when she should have said something, she didn't. She just bowed her head, and stared at the sod. She was Beta now. Surely, he would know that. Slowly, almost wearily she rocked back on her haunches, and sighed deeply. "Your right. I know nothing about you...I don't know your past, other than what you've told me. I don't know your personality. I don't know what's in your heart...but I know you've had a change of heart. You left a pack that you had been loyal to. You escorted two faes back without their knowledge. You let me go. There was a change in you." She didn't say what they both knew. His path would probably veer off from hers, and their fates would no longer be intertwined.
