The light, cream-colored fae made her way over to the nursery, stumblin slightly in her haste. She knew wolves would talk and gossip. She knew there would be many a whisper about Nirvana's birthing. However, she quite frankly didn't give a damn. These pups may not have a father, but she would care for them twice as fiercly. A few moons ago, back in the old forest, Nirvana had been raped by a Blood Mist rouge. He'd nearly killed her, too. In that night, she'd lost all her dignity she'd held so dearly. Emmett had known, buy Emmett was gone now. Nirvana didn't know what the rouge's name was, but she'd managed to fight him off after he'd taken and ripped her apart. She didn't know if she could even tell Destiny what had happened. It was simply too embarresing. She layed down in her nest, breathing hard as the pups were born into the world. One was a dusky grey color. He would grow to be a strong, muscular brute. The other was a light, cream-colored female. She resembled Nirvana. Nirvana vowed in that moment to never let her darlings fall down the murderous path of life their father had chosen. "You are Everest," she whispered to the young male. "And you are Nyra," she whispered to the femme. As Nirvana layed herself down, dread crept over her. She was dying, this she knew. She'd been sick for a long time, but no one had much noticed. She couldn't leave untill she knew someone would care for her pups...watch over them....

Euphrates padded slowly by, pacing.. wondering where on earth his little brother had gone off to. When I get my paws on hi-- He paused in front of the nursery, brow furrowed as he scented pups.
Curiosity got the best of him, and the former BloodMist warrior entered the den.
He saw Nirvana, laying there with pups at her side. He had been hardened with sights of death and blood since he was young, and had been only weakened by his passion for his young sibling. But the sight was enough to soften his gaze... though he hadn't been social enough or around enough to know who this wolf was.
"Are you arlight?" he asked, seeing her weakened.

Nirvana swallowed, then beckoned him forward with her tail. "Come closer, and listen well. I will only say this once, since I only have time to say it once." She paused, then continued, "My name is Nirvana, and I am dying today. I've given birth to two pups, Everest and Nyra. They have no father and never will. I will watch over them with the Twilight Wolves. Their paths are within the Destinian bloodlines. May they be blessed wolves. And I need you to make sure Destiny hears these words I say, Euphrates. Promise me you will tell her, and my pups will be looked after."

Euphrates was startled when the fae began to speak to him this way. He was normally treated like the bloodthirsty enemy every BloodMist wolf had been labeled as. But he would listen... he made himself listen. Listen to remember the words the mother was about to say. I must help her.
"I promise you," Euphrates vowed in a soft tone.

Nirvana looked him deep in the eye and nodded. "Babylonia was born back in the old Grey Mist, Euphrates. She died out in the woods, when Verlust took her. Had she not been poisoned by Verlust, she would've continues to be the amazing wolf she was. Never forget her, Euphrates. Remember her name and the good she did. Forget the bad,: Nirvana whispered. She gazed one final, last time at her beloved pups, then rested her heavy head.
Nirvana was dead.

Euphrates stared down at Nirvana, heart caught in his throat at the mention of his mother. As soon as he was sure that she was dead, he staggered back a step, frankly overwhelmed. Dear Verlust... why must I be reminded every day of my disloyalties? He sighed, furrowing his brow. Maybe... maybe if I help her, I won't end up in the deeper end of Hellfire.
Sitting down, he began to groom the pups, humming a soft song.
"'Cry not' said mother as she lie on the ground
Sky gray and sky pale, pups did not make a sound
'Open your eyes... take time to see
Cry not my young ones.. cry not for me'."

(I have the urge to start a Verlust/ Siv thread XD She IS considered a Twilight wolf, so I don't know if she CAN end up in Tartar sauce!  ) Nyra and Everest curled close to their faded mother. Though her warmth had faded, they stayed near her. She could still feed them for a short time, but not for long. They would need another bearer to look after them. There wasn't one in the pack. |

Destiny padded around her camp. Snowy paws guiding her into it's every crevice. Long banner flicking over the camp's walls. It was good and sturdy. Nothing left to be mended now. Auds perked at the sound of a wolf song. Paws guided her towards it.Like it was calling her. Then she realized she was heading to the nursery. The scent of pups overwhelmed her as she stood on front of it. Pups?I was the last bearer to give birth...who had pups? Carefully Destiny stepped into the Nursery. Pools quickly getting used to the change in lighting. It took only moments for her to see what was going on. Euphrates was grooming two small pups. Nirvana lay dead. The femme had most likely died right after the birthing. Destiny cleared her throat, making herself known but not wanting to startle the pups a big lot.

Euphrates' ears twitched, detecting the presence of another wolf. Turning to face her, he saw that it was his leader. With a curt, respectful incline of his muzzle, Euphrates gazed at Nirvana again. "Destiny... she needed me to tell you something."

Carolina appeared behind Destiny, eyes wrought with pain and loss. Nirvana had been kind to her, and she'd been a fierce, loyal warrior. Carolina would miss her dearly. She layed down beside her and licked the fae's pelt in farwell.
Everest and Nyra snoozed, unaware.

Destiny glanced at her neophyte but left her be. "Go on, Euphrates." She gestured to the wolf. turning her sorrowful gaze from Nirvana too the pups now. Destiny padded forward and sniffed each one. Two wonderful pups. But how would they survive? Destiny was'nt sure, she might have some milk left but not a lot.Definetaly not enough too keep both pups going for a while.

"She said that the pups are named Everest and Nyra, and she..." he paused for a moment, strangely dreading to speak of his mother, "...she spoke of Babylonia. She said that she was born of GreyMist, and never meant to do any harm. She was corrupted by Verlust... She wasn't evil. She was caring, but was poisoned in her mind by the goddess. She died out in the woods, and her soul was stolen, there, by Verlust." Euphrates was silent for a moment, thinking about what he had said. Does that mean mother would have wanted me to take Sumer to GreyMist? Am I not a traitor?
"She wanted you to know that, and forgive her... Remember the good, not the bad."

Destiny nodded her head as Euphrates spoke these words. Flicking her auds to catch them all. The femme glanced to the pups for a moment. Then back to Euphrates. Destiny nodded."I knew Babylonia before. Ashur taught her horrible things and Verlust took her from us." destiny thought of babylonia for a moment,smiling."She was a good wolf before. I know that." Destiny turned to Euphrates."Your doubting your loyalty to us are'nt you Euphrates. I can see the doubt in your eyes.Your no traitor Euphrates , nor is your brother Sumer."

Euphrates raised his darkened eyes to look at Destiny. "But either way, I am a traitor to my family... no matter how malicious they were, they were my family." He stood, closing his eyes again. "And I left them all to die."
He padded out of the nursery without another word.
