A large, black wolf loped into the strange territory. Dew covered her sleek coat, making it shine like silver in the sunlight. She took a deep breath, her lungs filling with the fresh air of the plains. This place was definitely better than the mountains she came from. And there were no trees to block the wind from blowing through her fur. Despite being in a strange pack's land, she was calm and easygoing. Sniffing the air again, she could smell prey, wolves, and another strange scent that was her only worry. Strange things were happening in the packlands, but being a loner she felt left out. The Black Devil decided she would get in on the action, even if it meant just watching other wolves getting killed. Violence was always fun to watch.

Life had been nasty as of the beginning of her unpleasant existence, but over the moons that had passed since that definitive moment in pup-hood when she'd 'run away' from the dirty old piece of work that was her father's pack, Rouge had come to realize things. A lot of things. Most of them not particularly good, either, none of them particularly horrific, all of them extremely enlightening. The most important one was this, though - life sucks when you're on your own. Therefore, it was about time she changed things up and became someone's friend - or enemy, in the very least. Anything would do. Really. Anything.
The weather wasn't particularly shitty today, nor was it overly enjoyable, but in comparison to the harsh temperatures of the mountains where she had grown up things were looking pretty good already. Though she'd passed the scent markers of several different packs, this one had drawn her in. Not for any particular reason, really, it just felt.. Right. Like they were already in her blood. (And in fact, they were in a sense, or had been, and she wasn't at all aware of it. Funny little world, innit?)
Stalking around a lonely tree trunk, she came to rest on a large boulder, shifting her caramel coat, looking to be drizzled with the orange-like shade of a rich sunset and splattered with silver, due to the fact that her entire undercoat was said color, into a half-way comfortable sitting position. Zircon mixed with cobalt, dashed with aquamarine eyes leered out at the world with cold indifference, not particularly looking for anyone, not wanting to see no one. It was an odd way to be, shew knew, but oh well.
Life is like that sometimes. Innit?

A light breeze brought the scent of the pack, plus another, different scent. Kismet was ready to face a pack wolf, but another outside wolf she was not so sure. Tensing up, her fur bristled and she crouched low to the ground, sniffing the area to figure out the general direction of the scent. Her head cocked to one side when it came to her; the smell seemed dangerous, but all other loners were dangerous to her.
Standing back up straight, her ears pricked up and she trotted over to where she saw a wolf resting on a large boulder. Chin up, eyes wide, and tail straight, she walked over to stand in front of the wolf. She stared right into the eyes of the other wolf, not caring about nature's law of dominance. Kismet worried secretly about messing with an angry-looking wolf, but she was genuinely curious to know why another loner was in the area.

Now, as smells go, the peculiar one that inhabits the territory of a fair-sized pack is probably one of the most commanding. It is simply not possible to miss unless you are aromatically impaired, and that's just how it is. The scent of a loner, however, is a different story. It belongs to one wolf - and more often than not is not spread over a large area. Thus, due to this fact, and the very simple reason that she was looking in a different direction, the rather stunning wolf was not at all aware of the presence of another loner - well, no, technically speaking she herself was a rogue - until the wolf in question was virtually on top of her.
This did not please Rouge. This did not please Rouge at all.
Without a second thought, her jaws parted to utter a very guttural, aggressive snarl which was not so much a challenge as it was 'Bitch, get the fuck out of my face, who do you think you are? I don't know you, and I don't want you that close to me'. Ears pinned down, tail fluffed up, and shoulders hunched, she remained seated, muscles tensed to defend herself should anything happen. If this wolf had been of the pack, she wouldn't have responded as such - but she was clearly not.

{(this is making me lol)}
Kismet opened her maw in surprise, thinking of how to reply, what to do. She sat down, glaring at the wolf, her eyes full of confusion. She wasn't exactly trying to be friendly, but she wasn't planning on fighting. Her ears flattened on her head, her nose scrunched up, and her tail thudded on the ground. She wanted to say something smart, but not something that would 'cause the wolf to attack.
She decided to lie.
Sucking in air and puffing out her chest, her glare strengthened and her began to bristle. Mind you, I'm a...uh...whatcha-ma-callit...neolite of this pack! I just joined awhile ago today, and my first mission was to patrol this area! She took a step before the wolf, a devil's grin playing in her eyes.

Now this was just getting utterly ridiculous. For several very long moments, she did not move at all. Rather, she remained seated, poised to do something that wasn't sit around like a useless lump, and continued to leer at the stranger. Did this wolf think she was an idiot? Because really, she was having a hard time believing that anyone could be so bloody naive.
Regardless, she decided to take the unfolding events in stride, and simply go with the flow of things. Gathering up her shoulders, thus looking to be slightly hunched - or coiled up - she very loudly cleared her throat. Aheming and so on and so forth. "Well if you're such a brave strong neophyte| She'd done her research. "Then why don't you smell of this pack, hmm? Why don't you feel like brethren. hmmmm?"
[Me too lmao.]

Kismet took a step back, ears pricked. She was going through scenarios of the wolf's reply in her head, but she hadn't thought of a good comeback for this particular one. Unable to figure out anything, she shrugged off the lie and sat back, relaxed. Well, whether or not I really was part of the pack, you have no business being here. Mind you, I was going to join this pack, I'm tired of being a loner and dealing with others like you.
She looked away from the wolf and yawned. Stretching her legs like a cat, she continued: I'll finally be able to kill wolves like you, invading into the territory and such. Don't worry, though, I'll give you a day to leave before I tell the alpha about you roaming around. She lifted her chin up, smiling. She was happy at herself for such a great lie, and happy that she almost believed herself. In her mind, she shuddered at the thought of ever joining a pack again.

If nothing else, this was an entertaining conversation. Something to do to pass the time by until another wolf, preferably of the pack, decided to show up. Rouge hoped that would be particularly soon - mainly because she was hungry, and some nice rabbit or deer would be a wondrous treat right about now.
A look of utter bemusement crossed her features for a brief moment, letting itself slip away into one of pity, and then ridicule rather quickly. "Darling," The sarcasm could've choked a whale. "First of all, I am a rogue. Second of all, I also plan on joining this pack. And thirdly, you couldn't kill me if I had my eyes closed and my nose stuffed. I'm the last of my line, an Alpha trained from birth. Not some petty little pup like you probably were." It was unpleasantly matter-of-fact. No bluffing here, unfortunately.
