Though mildly surprised at the nip, Euphrates laughed all the same. Jumping to his paws, he raced after Fireflight. But she was fast, and he was always one step behind.
"Wow-- faster than wildfire!" he yelped.

Fireflight came to a sudden halt, turning suddenly to face Euphrates. She tackled him to the ground, laughing merrily. "Gotcha!" Her eyes sparkled with humor. "I suppose I'm also able to change fast....but you'll NEVER get me to believe I'm good-looking, so don't even try, Mister!"

A broad smile gleamed on his face, and his tail was a blur. "Oof!" he exclaimed as she unexpectedly tackled him. Euphrates' eyes glistened, and he swiftly replied, "Come on! You're beautiful!"
He didn't say anything after that, because he was too stunned by his own embarrassment to speak any further.

Fireflight rolled her eyes and licked his nose. "Pssht. Fine then, Mister Studmuffin!" She grumbled with mock-irritance. She was silent for a moment, the glanced at him from the corner of her eye. "Seriously? A wired, high-strung thing like me?"

The stupid part of his mind-- apparently the part of his mind raging with hormones-- forced him to continue speaking.

Fireflight blushed a rosy red, but it was hardly noticable with her blazing crimson pelt. "Er...thanks..." she smiled at him, suddenly shy. "You're not so bad yourself!"

( XD You forgot about Mystic and Lance, btw  ) Fireflight rolled off of him, landing with an "oof" in the grass beside him. "Well...maybe someday I'll have the slightest clue to whatever you've seen in me. For now, I'm satisfied sleeping under whatever those sparkling things are up there," she nodded towards the stars above. Her copper eyes closed, but her ears were still pricked and alert. |

Euphrates rolled his eyes, secretly relieved that she didn't continue to ask about the "beautiful" statement. Instead, he sighed contentedly and assumed a sphinx pose underneath the stars. "Sleeping under those flames... sounds good to me."

"Summer... warmth and life. Yeah... summer is a good time." He tucked his paws underneath him, gazing out into the inky black sky. "...and the forest is lush, too. It's quite relaxing to take a walk during that time of year..." He exhaled slowly, memories of leading his brother through the woods beneath the sun echoed in his mind. He drove the thoughts away by biting his tongue.

Fireflight yawned in agreement. "I like the summer nights the best...warm, free, bliss. Crazy and immature as it can be, there is nothing like a summer night's run." She smiled to herself, thinking of the times she and Dream had romped through the tall grasses. Sorrow came when she thought of her sister, but she tried to shake it away.

"Mhmm. Don't have to deal with stupid snow....little disease...." she hesitated, the added, "...and I'm not sure why, but it seems as if summer is a sort of safe haven...like bad things don't happen there. It all happens in Autumn, and Winter...then it starts to melt away in Spring..."
