Riley climbed the snowy slope of Suicide Hill, panting with the effort. He'd gotten up bright and early as always. Before he'd met with Dashina, it had been a ritual of his. Get up at some un-godly hour and climb to the top of the hill to watch the sun kiss the earth and rise to the heavens. He watched and howled for a short time, then he would hunt on his way back to camp. Now that he'd found Dashina, things were different. He'd asked her to meet him here. And he wouldn't be hunting all alone anymore. Nope...he wasn't at all alone. He was elated and feeling like he was on top of the world. Dashina had brightened his life and soul. He'd actually groomed his fur, turning it from dull to sleek and warm. He reached the top of the hill and waited for Dashina to appear.

Dashina had gotten up early. Why... to groom her matted fur. It was now its natural shimmering flaming color. It was full and beautiful. It was sleek and shining. Her usually solumn eyes were bright and excited. Her tail that usually dragged low to the ground was high and wagging with excitement. She excitedly ran up the hill with ease and approached him with her heart growing light. She advanced towards him and stopped in front of him licking his muzzle excitingly.

Riley licked her nose in return, eyes sparkling with affection. "Did you sleep well?" he spoke softly. At this time of morning, it felt right to speak soft. The quietness was part of the beauty of a sunrise. But the real beauty was right before him. Dashina seemed so happy. It made him happy. He didn't know why, but it made him want to jump for joy! He simply stared into her lovely eyes and awaited her answer.

She smiled with affection. She wagged her tail slower now and replied.
"How could I sleep with a handsome brute walking through my dreams?" she said with, despite what she said, a gentle voice. She had dreamed of him.. so it wasn't sarcastic, but she had slept well.. better than she usually did. She licked his muzzle once and her heart lept with joy.

Riley smiled wider if possible. The brute seemed to glow in the pale light of the rising dawn. Sunlight was peering over the horizon, waking the winter wonderland and dancing across the white earth. Riley nuzzled Dahsina with affection, his heart skipping a beat. Was it possible that she liked him as he loved her? He'd never, ever believed in love at first sight. This....beautiful femmora had proved him wrong. So terribly wrong.

Dashina flicked her ears. This was her way of saying... prey was coming.. and it was large. Yeah I know.. she can say all those words in one flick of the ear. She opened her mouth letting the scent of a sickly female caribou... and a newborn calf. They had strayed of from the pack.

Riley smiled mischeviously, flicking his ears as well. "Are you thinking what I'm thinking?" he whispered. "Ready to talk down some caribou?"

Riley licked his lips with anticipation, pelt lightly brushing Dashina's. Happiness welled in him, threatening to take a hold of his mind completely. He managed to remain calm, however. He was a skilled hunter, and jumping for joy at a time like this WOULD NOT make for a good hunt. He crouched down low, making his way slowly and steadily down the slope. The cairibou weren't far, but they hadn't quite come up the steep, intimidating Suicide Hill.
