Deep dark eyes came from the shadows of the old bear den. They looked lonesome and full of sorrow. They glistened with tears as they stared into an unknown scene. The being's heart was heavy and her spirits were crushed.

A shady figure padded on through the darkness of night, sighing to himself. The white fur on his chin and torso was dulled to a gray, muddy and unruly. The packs were falling apart... and he had absolutely no one. His father? Who knew who he was.... His mother? He gritted his fangs. Don't think about her... He stumbled across the terra... and perked his ears, staring (wide-eyed) into the forest. A shadowy, brawny figure rose on two paws, snarling. A bear. Coal growled, lowering his body to the ground and slowly backing away. But the bear lunged. The brute was thrown against a tree, wind knocked out of him. His paw felt limp, and he rose his head to see the bear hovering over him. Dear Lupus...

Ivory lept to her paws in an instant. She raced out of the den and raced to the scene. Not hesitating she launched at the bear. She grabbed onto it with her teeth and ripped with no mercy she clambered up its back and grabbed its spine with all her might.. again no mercy. She held it giving a hopefully paralyzing back.

Coal braced himself for impact from claws... and instead heard the furious cries of the grizzly as it was attacked. Looking up, he saw a white form tearing at the bear... In horror, he saw the bear twisting around, swiping at Ivory (at least, trying to swipe on Ivory) and shaking its form furiously in an attempt to shake her off... Dragging himself to a stand, he limped forward, unable to use his forepaw. What do I do? he wondered. But he didn't give himself time to answer his question-- Ivory's life was now at stake. He lunged and dug his fangs into the bear's leg as it flailed about.

Ivory held on tight for the sake of Coal's life. Hopefully this monster will devour her and be on its way. She clambered up it farther.. out of its reach and craned her head to its face. She dung her fangs into its eyes. (Ew.. shudder)

The beast roared in anger. It lashed out at its own eye, clawing the wolf that was biting down there.
Coal glanced up, still pulling on the bear's leg. Oh god... oh god...

Ivory welp and released letting herself fall to the hard, cold earth. She dropped to the ground painfully and lay there unmoving. She was not unconscious, EDIT

(3 sentence rule ) Coal's eyes widened. "Ivory!" he howled, panic rising in his voice. And then, anger surged through his veins. Ignoring the horrible pain in his injured paw, he jumped onto the bear's back, digging his fangs into the thick skin of the creature's neck. Snarling furiously, the bear twisted about, trying to dislodge the wolf But Coal held tight... shaking his head back and forth furiously, fueled by a strange ferocity... a ferocity from a source that Coal did not yet recognize. The bear, snarling but realizing that it was being beaten (heck, Ivory had just torn its eye out and Coal was digging into his spine) and fled, lunging into a sprint on four legs. Coal released the bear, rolling off its back and onto the ground. Wincing as he landed on his bad leg, he allowed himself to pant. Jeez... wait, what about--"Ivory!" he cried, swiveling about and hobbling to her side. He licked the fae's face repeatedly. "Ivory, are you alright!?"

She winced and opened her eyes. "Coal?" she said in a confused voice. "Where- where's the bear?" she said her eyes confused. "I'll.. flay him.." she said weakly.

Coal sighed with relief. "Thank Lupus, you're alright!" He licked her muzzle again, then glanced over his shoulder. "The bear is gone..." He smiled. "You scared him pretty good, I think."

She smiled. "Of course I'm alright you big furball.." she said and smiled weakly. "Good.. he deserved it." she snarled sounding less mad than she was supposed to be. She reached up to lick his muzzle.

Coal paused for a brief moment, feeling the warmth of Ivory's tongue on his fur. He couldn't help but smile at her soft touch. It was nice, he admitted to himself... so very nice to feel this warmth... After realizing that he was staring at Ivory-- very silent-- he quickly stood, blushing under his fur. "Er... are you hurt?"

She smiled her ears feeling hot. He had saved her once again and she was thankful. She got up and shook her fur not noticing she was leaning on three paws with one held up. "no.. I don't think so.. are you?"

Coal glanced at his own wounded paw, and shook his head. "I don't think the bear wanted us to run away," he woofed. After a moment, he smiled. "...and to think-- we beat it up anyway!"

"The beast is as dumb as a mouse in a box with a cat." she said with a smirk. "..Taking on Siverian warriors like that." She looked at Coal's paw.
