Coal saw Ivory study his paw, and quickly withdrew it, keeping the paw out of sight. It was broken, probably like her's... but best not to worry her.
"...yeah..."
He paused, studying Ivory's as well. However, his eyes soon wandered to gaze into Ivory's orbs...
He realized that he was staring, and quickly looked away, heart pounding as his ears grew hot.

She smiled and hobbled forward. She nestled his neck and leaned down towards his paw. She looked at it with concern then slowly brought her head up and put her nose to his. Though the bear almost killed her and her Coal.. er I mean.. packmate she was quite happy.

She stared back her eyes glimmering in affection. This felt so right.. was it right? He had been a warrior while she had been a neophyte but he had saved her from death.. twice. He was her warrior in shimmering fur. She felt her heart leap.. butterflies batting their wings rapidly in her stomache.

(in shimmering fur, eh?  ) Coal was suddenly aware that he was grinning stupidly. He looked at his paws... and began to laugh. The kind of laugh that seems so plentiful and enthusiastic... the kind of laugh that only happens when your completely embaressed. "Umm..." he began, nervous laughter slowing as he stared down at his paws. "...you don't, er... have a mate, do you?" Oh my god, shut up now he told himself. |

Her ivory fangs showed as she gave a powerful smile. Her ears went hot and she looked at her paws quickly then she looked back up at him to answer his question. "Erm.. no.. not that I know of.." she said sounding stupid to herself. Oh god great Ivory..

Her skin flushed growing hotter each moment. She was afraid that it would show through her thick white coat. She looked down at her paws again. "Yeah.." is all she could say in her embarressed state. She looked back up her neck still low. she couldn't keep her eyes away.

She smiled. Neither could she. she couldn't find anything TO stay so she just groomed in between his ears comfortingly. She inched closer and whispered. "Then don't.." her eyed glinted with passion and she groomed his ear. XP

Coal felt weak as she groomed him...
And it had nothing to do with his wound.
"...no. No," he withdrew from Ivory. "I think I need to speak... ummm..."
He paused, the words on the tip of his tongue.
"I, er... I lo--"
He was interrupted by a fierce snarl, and lifted his head to see a familiar-- but not welcome-- face. The bear had returned, angrier than ever.
(I had to do that XD)

Ivory looked up and jumped back. She was stunned. She leaned on her bad paw.. she was getting ready to fight yet again. She ignored the strike of pain that scorched through her as she leaned on her broken paw. She snarled fiercely in return, her fur bristling angrily. She touched noses with Coal as if saying goodbye. She reared up on her paws and raced at full speed towards the beast. She again ignored the pain as she ran in between its legs and raced behind it.. she nipped its tail and calmbered once again up its back clawing her way up giving no mercy. She ripped through its thick skin at each climb. She ripped at it as she neared its neck.

"For the love of-- now!?" Coal growled, whirling around to face the bear.
His heart pounded in his throat as Ivory attacked the bear... but he still felt the passion. And he knew that if he didn't say it now, he might not get the courage to tell Ivory later...
And the bear interrupting his confession fueled both his anger and his urge to say it even more.
"Ivory!" he howled, leaping at the bear's forepaws and keeping the grizzly's attention on him while Ivory attack the spine. It worked, and Coal narrowly dodged a swipe from the massive beast's claws. "I need to tell you something now, because I probably won't have the energy to do it later!"

Ivory looked up her body now covered in the bear's blood drizzling from her mouth down her chest. She looked like a murderer. She ripped through its skin swallowing its flesh just to get it out of the way. She perked her ears listening for Coal. She lifted her head once more still holding on with her fangs and claws. She looked at Coal with dark brown eyes.

Coal dove between the bear's feet, wincing at the pain in his paw. But he felt strangely alive at the same time.
"I love you!" he cried.
Oh my god, I said it...
He nipped at the bear's heals, trying to unbalance it. But he stepped wrong, and the bear staggered onto him. The brute howled in agony, and rolled limply to one side as the bear stepped away.
