"Then you are whole. You can now comprehend the things around you." Lupus gestured towards the eclipsed sky with his black, raccon paw. He gazed outward, his dark eyes barely distinquishable in contrast to the black fur of his facial mask. "Now, I cannot help you with these emotions, for they are your own. Learn to control them, and you shall remain as mindful as you are now." He blinked, and his eyes became an opaque crimson color. "I shall visit you again sometime..." Lupus began to fade away, strips of the raccoon's body dissolving as if it were smoke. "Farewell," a ghostly voice added. Lupus, now invisible, enlarged to become a shadow, and drifted silently away through his realm.

Lucinda sighed. She scented Diablo on the wind. "Diablo?"

Diablo blinked, and turned away immediately. He had almost caught her eye. He paused, and emerged from the tangle of gnarled branches that was the bush. "I wanted to see if you were okay," Diablo woofed, looking up at the sky and avoiding eye contact, as usual.

Lucinda nodded, her head was down. "Can I talk to you about something? It's kind of personal, but feel free to drive me from the pack if you don't like it," she barked bitterly.

Diablo nearly turned around to stare, but managed to stop himself at a three-quarter turn. "What did you say?" he asked, forcing his voice to remain even and calm.

Lucinda turn and padded straight in front of him so she could look at his face. "I said, do you believe in love?"

Diablo backed up, and for the first time in a long while, he saw her eyes. "Why?" he asked, now struggling to contain himself. His "good" eye, golden and bright, focused on Lucinda's eyes...
