Bloodstained paws crossed the the rockface of the Xavrien Heights. A half moon rose into the dusky heavens, the faintest traces of the auroura bleeding through. The moonlight shone down upon the broken wolf, an unsteady limp and wounded physique restraining her. She collapsed at the front of the den, gasping for air.
Annanti had come far.
She didn't know why, but this place was calling to her...
For many moons, it had been her home; the place where she came to rest her tired head and find warmth and comfort. Now it was nothing but a black memoir of her past. She had avenged her fallen family, but Diablo still breathed. He'd hurt them all countless times...what floured her was why he neglected to stop. The scarred brute had blamed himself many times...but were there too many scars to revive the wolf that Lucinda had once loved?
She dragged herself forward, coming to rest at the edge of the cliff. Peeking over the edge, she wondered if she could truly deny herself a leap over...
Yes. I can. I've come this far, and Liv would never want me to stop now... And it was true;; she'd come too far for suicide notes sealed with butterfly kisses. This was closure...tonight was the night she would say goodbye to her bloodstained memories and be reborn as a new wolf.
She was nearing adult age, but knew how to fend for herself. No fighting would phase her;; she'd slain the devil. No cowardice would stop her;; she'd travelled with Diablo, the definition of 'afraid'. But most of all, nothing would bar her from those she loved. If nothing else, she'd learned more about herself by her acts.
As the moon rose above, she closed her eyes and let out a single, ghostly howl into the chilled night.
