Olive entered the deserted senior's den with a racing heart, spotting what might be the corpse of Saskia.
No...corpse's don't have heartbeats.
And Saskia certainly had a heartbeat. Olive managed to pull her into a nest, then listened to the young wolf's heart.
It was a slow, sluggish thing, but it was there. Hopefully, with Tisana's help, they could change that...
But she won't come out of this without a cure...not without a cure from the disease.
Suddenly, a new determination flooded through her. From what Laika had told Okashii, and from what Olive had collected otherwise, she had a pretty good idea about Mira's true identity...
Are you looking for them now, Silence? Please, please hurry!

Okashii sucked in a sharp breath. " I-is she alive?" She shifted her weight from paw to paw.

Olive nodded slowly. "Y-yes," she breathed, tearing up. "Is Tisana coming? We need to get her heartrate up...it's amazing she even pulled through this long..."
And I refuse to let her die. I refuse to watch Crow die.

"Present." Came a voice from outside. Tisana padded in, mouth full of herbs and what-not.
Okashii sighed. "THANK LUPUS!"
"What's the case, Olive." Tisana inquired.

Olive blinked with gratitude at Okashii, thankful she'd kept it from Crow. "The wolf who attacked Saskia and Laika was diseased, and very violently so. I'm guessing she was everything but insane with it. Tisana...Saskia's not dead. Far from it. She's in a comatose from the toxins the killer transferred into her...and she still has a heartbeat." Suddenly, another light clicked on upstairs. "What about Laika? Okashii....was her death....bloody? I mean do you think there's even the sligtest chance....?" But Olive had seen the look on Mist's face, the look on Owen's, and something in her gut told her otherwise. If I can't save Laika, I have all the more reason to save Saskia,

Okashii's eyes clouded over and she grew silent, leaving the den.
Tisana quietly padded over to Saskia, sniffing. "Yup, that's a case of coma if I've ever seen one." She picked a few herbs from her bundle, spicy ones. "Part her mouth."

Olive sighed, looking at her paws. "Maybe I shouldn't have said that..." she nodded to Tisana and did as she was told, gently parting Saskia's mouth. There was the smallest of coughs from her maw, then she was silent once more.

Tisana gently put the spicy herbs in Saskia's mouth. They were small, and would be fine just sitting there if she didn't chew. "A mild form of Red Roots." she informed. "Almost like wild garlic, only hotter. Spicy things make heart rate increase."

Olive offered a small smile. "Nice thinking," she sighed. She tried hard, really, to do what was right, and to help her pack...but sometimes it seemed she ended up messing things up. She only hoped her efforts would be enough this time. "Do you think Mist and Light will really get up to anything?" she blurted suddenly, a random curious thought pattern taking place of her depressed one. I never could mope for long...oh, well! I wonder if they'll actually have pups, though....that would be interesting...

Tisana chuckled softly. "I really don't know, honey. They look alike. A bundle of little snowballs will surely be coming soon. I'm just happy for Light. He hasn't gotten close to anyone after Kaye died."

Olive frowned slightly. "Kiba's Light's daughter? Wow they totally made that obvious!" She snorted, exasperated. "Well I think I'm going to rest here...I'll go out the back exit and come back with prey when I wake up so it just looks like I went on a really early hunt..."

Asleep at Saskia's side, Olive's thoughts took on darker forms.
Something's stirring....something is about to break.
And, indeed, little did the forest know, something was already trembling, eager to shatter in the center of the bloodstained forest...
