Weed padded into Crowfeather Hollows with a slight bounce to his step. He wiggled on his haunches and practiced his stalking on random leaves and twigs he found while he waited for Sabela. He was all right at hunting, even though he hadn't much practice. He father had given him some basic knowledge of the skill, so he hoped to impress Sabela with what he already knew. He'd been very suprised when the alphess had decided to mentor him herself. Not many alphas took neophytes, and if they did, it was usually their own child or the child of a beta, proxy, or healer. Nevertheless, he was delighted. He couldn't wait until she started to teach him the ways of being a warrior -- and in fact, he was literally bouncing up and down. XD

"I see you have the characteristics of an overdosed Tigger," joked a gentle voice as the wolven bodice came into view. "All you need is some stripes," she smiled as she leapt towards him, swiftly digging her paws into the dirt and smiring a stripe across Weed's side. She halted when she was on the opposite side of the stripe and murmured, "We are going to start with the basics of camoflauge in the forests." She trotted in front of him and smiled gently. "Camoflauge is not only appearance, but sound. If you are camoflauged greatly against a large clearing of leaves, thats half of it, but if your feet are heavy the leaves will crack and away flies the prey." she paused and perked her ears. "Are you with me, so far?"

Weed's eyes widened as his mentor and alphess entered the clearing. He giggled a little when she gave him stripes, but paid apt attention to her every word. He nodded with large, serious eyes. This was definitly an interesting lesson so far -- most neophytes just learned about two main groups of skills: skills you use in battle, and skills you use in hunting. The ideas Sabela was talking about seemed likely to work in many situations that just in battle or hunting. Wow...training is a lot different than I thought it would be, but It's still just as fun!
