The dark she-wolf slunk through the breezy grasses of the moose bothers, the moon high in the sky. The night was cool and crisp, not bothering to hide the bitter threat of a frost. Many thoughts ran through the young proxy's mind as she fled through the night. She needed a good run, really. So many things had happened all so fast. She'd never been more stressed out in her entire life. Being proxy was a great honor, though it had worried her at first. But now, however this was not the heaviest weight on her shoulders. The cure had given them hope, hope for any future at all. This calmed her...but only slightly. Lance was growing so distant from her, and they scarcely seemed to speak at all. Her heart ached slightly at the thought of her perhaps lover, and definite love. And that brought her to the last, most desperate of worries: I think I'm pregnant...
She came to a halt, gasping for air, and padded slowly over to a dark oak to rest. She collasped at the foot of it's trunk, leaning up against the old, silent creature with exhaustion and racing thoughts. What if my children will be raised with only me...like my mother had to go through, like I went through for the majority of my life?

The silver wolf inhaled the fresh air deeply, for once able to scent and breathe without tasting fresh blood on his tongue. Without having to worry about fainting or growing weak at the knees or going rabid. Without a solid care in the world. The air tasted fine and crisp, and that was how Lance liked it. The past moon or two he felt... off. He believed it was because of the sickness- it had clouded his mind and blurred his judgement. But, at the same time... it wasn't. What's wrong with me? He had always gone to Soul for help with his problems, but now both his mother and sister were gone... and his father was dead. There was no one to turn to except Mystic, but he felt a chasm growing between them. Why? He wasn't sure... but at least he knew in the back of his mind that it was probably his own fault. I'm losing her... That was enough to make the air brushing his senses taste sour on his tongue and make him ill again. How can I fix this? Lance asked himself. I still love her, don't I?
(ooo, pups! This should be interesting! XD)

{ XD }
Mystic's ears perked up, angling around around as she pinpointed the position of the approaching wolf. A wave of his scent washed over her, causing a shudder to run down her spine. My thoughts are growing to vivid...there's no wolf out there! But a glimpse of his form told her otherwise. Please, someone tell me I'm not going crazy!

A fimiliar scent brushed his whiskers, sending shivers of both delight and reluctance up his spine. Mystic... he thought lovingly. ...but do we still love each other? The dark thought was enough to make him freeze in his tracks, tail stiff and eyes cold. I could never think that! It was only the illness... You're letting her slip away! he hissed at himself. Excuses or not-- she is more important than a disease. But how can I tell her that?

Mystic slowly rose to her paws, still a bit unsure and paranoid. She gazed out into the dark, just staring at the wolf for a moment. Giving herself a small shake to clear her thoughts, she managed to speak, "Lance....is that you?" No, it's the boogey man! Stupid! It looks like him, it smells like him, and you STILL have to ask?! Ugh...

Lance blinked away the demons and offered a small, friendly smile. "Yeah, it's me..." He padded forward, heading towards her at a casual pace. Does she notice my lack of affection for her? Why do you think you keep dwelling on it, doofus!! "How you doing?" he coughed, pausing a foot away from Mystic.

Hm. I don't know. I feel really sick and there's this kicking in my gut-- "Fine. I'm...fine," she breathed. "And yourself?" She took a small step towards him, but then stepped back almost immediately, uncertainty clouding her grey eyes. Stupid, stupid males and their stupid, stupid charm!

(LOL-- this entertains me : His eyes flashed, ripe with hurt when he saw the doubt in her gaze. He had suspected she felt the gap between them as well... but still could not have prepared himself for that look-- it scorched his fur and made him feel like dirt. ...so, what's the next step, big shot? Shut up.He didn't even know why he was arguing with himself. "Alright, I suppose," he forced out, diverting his eyes. "...I mean, I've been better... since the treatment." Smooth... STOP IT!

We've become, desolate... It's not enough, it never is...
"Oh....well...that's good, then," she managed, not looking directly at him. Her paws scuffed the ground slightly, fidgeting with the anxiety and awkwardness that had plagued them both. Whatever happened to us, joking around in the meadows? Stargazing on the den roofs? Where did that go...?

Sensing her anxiety, Lance frowned and felt icy fangs grip his heart. ...maybe she doesn't love me... He had no way to disprove it. Trying to hide his dark thoughts, he asked "What are you doing out here, then?"

"Oh...er...just resting," she replied oddly. She gritted her teeth at the slight pain in her stomach. You should really tell him about that, you know. Maybe it would change things... Maybe it will only make them worse. Nevertheless, he still has a right to know... "I....er...." She sighed heavily, trying not to make it sound like a tragedy. "I'm pregnant, actually," she blurted eventually, eyes searching his.

(niiiice : Lance was about to ask "Why were you resting?" when the words hit his ears. His eyes widened to giant orbs, and a strange emotion that he couldn't quite identify seized his mind. "...what did you say?" ............pregnant.................

"Nothing, nothing!" Mystic snapped suddenly. "Just forget it, Lance! Maybe that would be best, anyway. Forget what you heard, forget me, just forget everything!" She turned, insides aching terribly, and waves of dizziness washing over her. She swayed on her paws, then collapsed into a heap near Lance's paws. Grunting, she attempted to stand, but failed miserably. She cursed loudly, wanting desperately to get away. To cry in peace. But it would seem the fates were against her, and a few stray tears began to drip out regardless of her position.
( =] This is fun. I feel so mean, though XD )

(I know... but that's entertainment for you!! XD)
Lance stared down at her, at his paws, and staggered back a step. In his eyes, he felt his fears being confirmed-- she didn't love him anymore. But... another side of him refused to believe that it was over. A tear slipped from his eyes. "...I-I'm sorry, Mystic... this is my fault for letting you slip away from me..." He forced himself forward and licked her passionately on her cheek. "....s-so sorry...." He began to head back in the direction he came, pain stinging his eyes.

It was almost too much to bear, the swiftest of embraces, and then watching him walk away. In fact, she couldn't bear. And she couldn't have him thinking he'd lost her. No...there was still some light left for them.... "Lance wait!" She called, voice echoing through the trees. "P-Please....don't leave...."
