The wolven paws drew slowly across the moistened spring grasses, fatigue and stress weighing them down, as well as caution and wariness. The cure had liberated the forest, true, but it also roused some long-forgotten problems. The four packs had grown close, but two packs in particular, the Yozorans and the Sheerans, seemed inseperable. She was suspicious of the relations shared between Mist and Light, but hadn't voiced them to Sabela quite yet. Many, many other things were on her mind. She sat in the center of the Twilight Clearing, gazing up at the stars above. Are you up there, Oak?

The figure weaved between the trees. The scent of Yozoran very strong on his greyish, brownish, silver white hinted peltage. The Yozorans and Sheerans had grown very close lately. The relationship between Mist and Light seemed to grow stronger every day. True enough, it could be a great alliance, but it could be a dangerous one as well. The Destinians were the largest pack in the forest and he feared that if they, for some reason, allianced with the Siverians because of suspisions then it could end in catastrophy. There were other things on his mind as well. Pernille has fully grown, my dearest daughter no longer needs her father. And you, my beloved, are you up there? Do you watch over me? It has been so long but I still remember your beautiful features. My heart aches for you, but... I must ask your permisson, do you mind if I move on? Here was the Yozoran Beta asking the permission of a long dead wolf if he could move on with his life. Wether he got a response from her or not, the brute would of course end up moving on. Brownish, greenish optics gazed up at the gorgeous night sky. The twinkling stars holding all of his attention as he entered the Twilight Clearing.

Nightshade swiveled around as she detected the signs of an approaching wolf. The aroma that came from his pelt told her that he was of the Yozorans, and as her violet eyes laid to rest on his form, recognition kicked in. This was none other than Iver, beta of the Yozorans. he would most likely be her major foe in coming moons, but for now, they were just two wolves from different packs, cautious, but not immediately hostile. She nodded evenly towards the other beta, eyes giving away nothing. "Hello, Iver. What brings you out tonight?"

I wish I could see your face again... As his name was called the brute started. Half leaping into the air, half not. As soon as he recognized the femme he collected himself, regaining his composure. It was Nightshade, Beta of the Siverians. It was likely that they would be rivals in the future, though not really at the moment. "Why hello there Nightshade." The brute glanced around; gaze returning momentarily to the stars. "Nothing really, a train of thought drew me away from the territory. Yourself?" He turned his emerald brown eyes back on her figure.

Her tail swished oddly, as if she had more to say than her answer gave, "Same reason as yours," she woofed softly. She tilted her head back and traced the stars with her indigo-kissed gaze, imagining her beloved returning. Imagining her sons returning. Imagining her best friends returning. But none of that was left, and Nightshade knew she had many moons to go before she faced joining them. She was slightly younger than Sabela, she figured. She glanced back at Iver, briefly, but long enough to not the similar pain in his own gaze. She took this as a scapeway, perhaps a godsend from the heavens above, or even Oak himself. Using this sudden confidence, she placed her eyes on the endless stars above once more, murmuring to Iver, "Do you ever miss them, Iver? Do you ever wonder why the skies didn't take you, too?"

The brute was slightly startled by the words that leaked from her maw. How can she read me so easily? The brute's own emerald brown gaze drifted up to the glimmering stars. He rocked back on his haunches for a moment, then sat completely. Long, fluffy tail draping across his front paws. "Yes and yes Nightshade. Every day." His voice held a pain, though it was carefully used and he was doing his best to contain it. Even so some was leaking out. "So often I wish they had taken me too. But then I remembered Pernille, and was glad to be there for her. Though now, I wish for nothing else. I want to be with her again. I miss her face, her scent, her touch, her eyes." The brute gave an embaressed snort. He'd said far more then he had wanted to say. He'd told her far to much. Carefully he kept his gaze away from her figure and on the stars.

Nightshade nodded, tail flicking slightly at his unease towards the end of his statement. "Yes,....it's like that for me, too. Every moment I go through....every tear I shed, I always wish they were with me, every time I laugh, I look around to see if they laughed too. But there's no one there....and then I remember Mystic, and my pack, and I can get through it a little easier. If not for them, I fear I would fade away all together...." she trailed off, voice leaving the statement seemingly unfinished. And awkward silence filled the space between them, making her shuffle her paws with discomofort. "But I also wonder If I am bound to be alone....to carry the sadness for the rest of my life. If he'll still love me when I join them."

The beast kept his emerald brown optics on the heavens. Perhaps picking out constellations, searching for un-seen stars. Thinking about what was out there, and if there was more then just the ancestors of the wolven up above. So many questions without answers. The awkward silence made him shuffle his paws and pace involunterily. "So many times I have asked her if she will still love me; cried out and screamed at the heavens. She's never responded, and I often think that she no longer loves me. The only thing that keeps me going through these hard times is the pack. Though I often find myself unable to even deal with them. Sometimes I worry for..." The brute trailed off, not finishing his sentance. Again, he wasn't thinking about what he was saying. His paws barely made a sound on the grass; his tail brushed it, creating a small bit of wind and making a slight whispering sound.

"...I worry for them. I fear for our dearest forest. Only days ago we were the dead and dying, embracing each other as brothers in arms. And yet here we are, tense and nearing hostility every passing moment. And I worry about what I've become, what living without them has done to me. About which side I will choose when it all begins, and about what realm I'll reside in when it ends." She choked out, eyes wide as she dared to gaze back at Iver.

For several long moments, even after Nightshade had ceased to speak, the brute continued to pace. Who are you, Iver? I'm the Yozoran Beta, of course. Are you nothing more? What more could I be? Your wasting your time. Wasting? What do you mean? Look around you. Around me? There's the Twilight Lake... And trees.. Grass... The sky, stars and moon... Hostile, no, rival.. no... enemy... No... What, Iver? Can you see only an enemy? What else could she possibly be!? Think harder, Iver, Beta of the Yozorans... What, I don't understand! The voice in his head began to die, disappearing like a whisper on the wind. Who had that been? It had sounded like... he was speaking to himself. In fact, his self concionse had been speaking to himself. The brute turned his gaze back on the fae. Nightshade. Nightshade... deadlyy... posion... "......"

Nightshade found herself pondering her own thoughts and misery, seperately this time, yet together. She didn't close her eyes to imagine them. For some reason, she was calm with the giref that came. Yes, there was sadness, but it didn't overtake her, like the paws of the undead that often did. No, this time, she was in complete control of her own situation. With a small glance at Iver, she found him staring into space, apparently busy in his own head, also. She offered him a rare, but beautifully fine smile. Small, fragile, but daring and true. "Somebody's tongue-tied!" She noted, amused.

The brute waved his tail back and forth. Thinking. At her words he brought his head back to gaze upon the stars. A sudden thought enetered his head. "Howl with me?" Generally, only wolves of the same pack would howl together. Or close friends or family might. But not two wolves who hardly new each other. She's from a completely different world... Is she? But wait... She's felt the pain too... Maybe... We're not so different... Just the sligthest bit alike. Iver waited a few moments for an answer. Then, wether he got one or not, the brute would begin to howl. Crown tilted backwards, auds pinned to his skull, tail held high, fur rippling over his chest as he took a very very deep breath. Then, the note came. It was deep and oh so low. Heartache and agony pouring and overpowering it until they rang in every single note. This was a sorrowful song, from a young strong wolf.

The question had at first taken Nightshade by suprise, but she found a strange enjoyment that he'd asked. Yes...I've needed this for the longest of times. It's high time I've let it loose into the air. Whether the skies above deny my closure, or the fires below grasp at me for it, it will be there, out, true, and pure. She, too, lifted her head to gaze into the eyes of the dancing auroura in the heavens. Violet eyes reflecting the perfect shades and hues, she narrowed them to slits, and let out her own spell song of lost love, lost friendship, lost family, and being lost. Her spirit was dark, yet enchanting, a soprano, yet all of the voices of wolvenkind at once in an ethereal choir. It turned, telling of the pain she'd held inside, and the casting of it out of her mind and soul. The voices of the spectors she'd once shared her heart with began to fade, but their ghostly imprints on her call lingered, as if disapproving of her current circumstance.

The brute's melody became deeper, lower. A true alto wolfsong leaking from his maw.The notes of agony turned to ones of heartache and loneliness. Once skipping to a completely different tune when a single note of joy was uttered then falling back into the deep dark depression of a lonely agonized song. This isn't right... Why am I doing this... Why am I here... I feel as if... I'm betraying my loyalities... Just by standing here... I feel as if... I have Divided Loyalties. But where do my other loyalties lye? His call continued, his first real howl in a long, long time.

Nightshade ended her howl after a long stretch of time, the first honest, pure, long howl she'd given to the ears of the living for an immense amount of time. She felt free, released, refreshed, reincarnated. However, there was also a desperate weight.
Her heart was heavy when she thought of the coming war. Her mind raced when she searched for a way to inrease their ranks. Her senses strained to get a hold on the siutation. But most of all, her heart was racing now. But why? Why should Iver.... No. I need to leave. Sabela, the pack, need me.
Though she knew this, backwards and forwards, through and through, she couldn't wrench her paws from the ground.
